It's only been the 3rd of August for an hour, but I just couldn't wait any longer. Episodes 5-10 are so fantastic that it's almost impossible for me to not watch one straight after the other. Half a week is so difficult to wait when the episodes are so good This episode really was great. So many memorable scenes: everything in KL was perfect, the Eyrie scenes were amazing, and Vaes Dothrak was just magical Again I think leaving out the Wall was a wise move so the episode wasn't too packed.

You should really do one of the weekly Foreshadowing & Symbolism write-ups! Would love to have your take on this one, you game for it? (I'm so late getting Saturday's 1x05 essay done, just posted it! housewiththereddoor.freeforums.net/thread/197/episode-1x05-foreshadowing-symbolism)

I'm not entirely confident it'll hold up to the standard you and moiaf have created with the last 5 episodes, but I'll certainly give it a shot! Did you mean this episode specifically or a future one further down the line?

Did you mean this episode specifically or a future one further down the line? Yay! I'm so glad you'll give it a try. Why not start with this one since you're way ahead of the rest of us this week? I won't get time to watch 1x06 until tonight, it's a day off for me and we're heading out for the afternoon/evening. I might try watching before we go. Don't worry about 'standards' because it's really up to your own creativity in how you want to present it and most of all have fun with it! I personally enjoy looking up gifs and images (I know you like them too) that match whatever scene I'm talking about to help emphasize the symbolism or parallels and foreshadowing. Here's a couple of sites I use that really help: 1. All the episode scripts, well done, accurate and great for quoting characters: genius.com/albums/Game-of-thrones/Season-1-scripts2. Images and gifs from Season 1 (though usually I find better ones just googling): bingewhale.com/game-of-thrones/season-1 (All six seasons on the main menu too)

Completely forgot a different guy played Beric at first though. I had forgotten that too, it was really oddly off-putting in a re-watch even though I don't remember caring one bit watching it in sequence the first time around. I just finished my re-watch, taking a short break for lunch and other things but will give a full assessment of it in a bit. It was fantastic. I'd truly forgotten how epic this episode really was - front to back every single scene was well done and all were very important to the overall story which makes it a packed episode of serious reveals and foreshadowing. Tons of imagery for @fatherofdragons to cover in this one!

I'm really hoping everyone else in the project starts adding their own bits and pieces to the symbolism/parallels and all that because it's much more fun to do it as a community project. So if you've missed anything, others can fill in with what they saw and caught too. I'm quite sure I missed things in the previous episodes too.

Like I said in the rating episode, a great episode with some of the most memorable scenes of the series. They acting was tight. Emulia was great in both her scenes, when given good material she can be great. I love the horse heart scene.

I really like this episode, Dany really starts to come into her own in this one. When she is coldly watching Viserys die at the end is the moment that I really started to like her.The first season is soooo good.
