Haven't you seen Downfall? That's a pretty good one. Nope. I'll add it to my list. There's a pretty good German film I watched last year, "Victoria". It was shot in a single continuous take! I seriously recommend it to you.

This somewhat looks like a mixture of The Aviator and Hail, Caesar!

This looks like a mixture of The Aviator and Hail, Caesar! It's the first thing Beatty's made or starred in in a while. He took quite a long break from acting and directing. Many thought it was a retirement and he didn't accept two roles Tarantino wanted him for, Bill in Kill Bill and Calvin Candie in Django Unchained (who in the script was a much older man). So it's a tad odd to see him coming back now for this. Which could be good. It's vibe seems like a Woody Allen movie or a lighter-toned Coens' film. But seems like the sort of movie that's hit-or-miss and doesn't make all-too much money. Still. It's always cool to see someone work again after a LONG break. If only Gene Hackman would follow his example. My favourite actor of all time's last movie was Welcome to Mooseport.

Yeah I think it's been 15 years or so, but it does seem like a genre you wouldn't really expect at least at this point in his career. Not sure how good it'll be, but it does have a promising ensemble cast. Though if Beatty is coming back after this long of time, I imagine that he wouldn't waste his effort and considering its release date, it looks like it could potentially be part of the award season. Or that's probably what he's aiming for.

Or that's probably what he's aiming for. Another guy I want to get the fuck out of retirement is Joe Pesci. Scorsese's going to make the Irishman with De Niro, Pacino and Keitel. And Pesci won't do it. WHAT THE FUCK!

My favorite actor (Robert De Niro) is in more movies than ever. That doesn't mean many of them are any good. I can count on one hand how many of his movies i've liked in the last decade or so. No fault to him, but quality roles for actors past a certain age just aren't as prevalant.

No fault to him, but quality roles for actors past a certain age just aren't as prevalant. Though I think De Niro's saving up trying to work towards projects he cares more about like the Irishman. It does mean him showing up in godawful comedies way too often but I think he's only doing so to let him build towards projects he cares about. Gene Hackman on the other hand just stopped acting flat-out with very little warning. I wouldn't have minded as much if he'd let the Royal Tenenbaums be his last movie. But he had to go and make Welcome to Mooseport afterwards. Which just doesn't sit well with me. I guess he's too Gene Hackman-like to give a fuck about his legacy. Which I respect unto itself for the pure, unadulterated Gene Hackman-ness of not caring about such things. But on some level it still irks me.
