Be kind of funny if they start Dunk and Egg on HBO and he doesn't finish that either.
He knew the Syfy news was coming out, he is in hiding. As for the spin off projects he is probably already working on them and those probably have hard deadlines. Who knows maybe winds is finished and the news is getting ready to drop, and that allows him to start these new projects. Just waiting for a good announcement point like the season 7 premier or something. It's not like it could spoil the show, they already pretty much finished winds, season 7 and 8 are a split of Spring.
To bad he couldn't of finished it last year before season 6 but that's on him. ASOIAF is suppose to be his Opus what a disaster it would be if he didn't finish the series.

That's my deepest fear, that someone else will have to finish the story. While I still have strong hopes that TWoW will actually materialize, I have decided that A Dream of Some sort of ending to the opus is rapidly vanishing. Either that or he has enough material now for both books but hasn't decided how to edit it down. But the years are growing shorter and shorter...

He'll probably finish, but he may take some time away from the series. Winds was always going to be tough, one big problem was he over expanded the series to the point he had to split the books. Well now he has to take all the POV's from 2 books and merge them into one book which would limit chapter count per POV and unfortunatly he is wordy. Another problem was fame, he loves it, it's like cheese dip to him, he can't get enough of it. When he landed the series and it took off he could not wait to go on his victory tour, and he did. For close too two years he did not touch winds. And he can't wait to get new projects which get more of his stuff on TV and or movies. He wants a movie so bad right now. Finally a lot of the motivation he had to finish was taken away by the show, he is going to miss out on every major reveal he had been setting up for decades. All he really has left are the finer details and some plots that appear to be headed nowhere with irrelivant characters. Dude missed Jon's alive, The Night King, Dany leaving Essos and finally he missed R+L=J. There is still some good stuff for him to reveal that show probably won't bother with, but all in all he missed out on his big setups. He will more likely still finish but I don't think it's at the top of the list. Lots of money and fame with his other projects, lots of motivation there. But Ice and Fire, he already got the fame and the money and missed out on the big surprises. So his motivation is simply to do a lot of hard work to finish what he started and it won't really do much for him other than finally finishing. While his other projects get more fame and a lot more money. Maybe keep him going to the red carpets which he loves, and keep him at top on the cons which he loves. Keep on tour which he loves. Eventually he'll get back to it but right now? Well I look forward to whatever new shows he ends up getting made.

grrm.livejournal.com/536859.htmlWhile talking about the prequels, GRRM mentioned that he's currently working on Fire and Blood (GRRMarillion) So, he's probably working on it concurrently while working on Winds and probably ADOS. I wonder if some of the information from F&B will be important for the future ASOIAF books. Perhaps, how the Targaryens got the idea for the Three Heads of the Dragon or the Prince that was Promise prophecy.

He also said that it won't be D&E or Robert's Rebellion that they are developing. (according to GRRM, we'll know everything about RR by the time aSoIaF is finished) So, I'm hoping for Pre-Doom Valyria, Dance of the Dragons and Aegon's Conquest.

We will be getting the Shrouded Lord chapter that was cut from ADWD.......after DREAM is released, grrm.livejournal.com/542263.html?thread=26255415It would be a miracle if my grandchildren get to see this chapter in their 50s. In that chapter, Tyrion meets the mysterious Shrouded Lord at the Sorrows. But GRRM changed his mind and did not want to go in that direction. My theory is that either Tyrion gets infected with greyscale or perhaps more likely, Shrouded Lord tries to infect him but can't and drops the bomb on Tyrion that he may have Valyrian blood.

Alas, alas, that great city Valyria, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come. The Winds of Winter? We have been disappointed and heartbroken so many times with his vague and confusing posts and comments, i dare not get my hopes up for anything at this moment. He probably is going to announce a painting book on Valyria or something. I don't know.

It may not even be an announcement. It may just be something to commemorate the 6 year anniversary of ADwD's publication. The caption is also a bible quote.

New Time.com article with GRRM. Really good things in there: -He argued with D&D about bringing back Lady Stoneheart. Thought that was the first major diversion from his books. -Briefly goes over Beric's death as being an "wight animated by fire not by ice" - very curious wording there, could be foreshadowing Jon's book arc moving forward. (I'll give you my thoughts after my bullets) -He confirms why he didn't write an episode in Season 5-7 (writing TWOW), but kind of mysteriously leaves out Season 8. (Apparently the interview was in March however, but still holding out hope) -It sounds like D&D did have come to Sante Fe several times to talk about the ending Now my theory about Jon here. Everybody assumes that Jon will be a POV character. I do too, but this will violate GRRM's undead rule of no POV characters. He's often said that LSH will never be POV. Jon's death/resurrection will be more like Beric, but I still think he could be a little bit more "zombied" in the books. Will Jon be animated by Ice? By his wording, I would think wights are animated by ice.
