mandzipop , no I don't live in the UK! I didn't know they said pop there too, very interesting! I'm in Ohio and it's only said in my small area and I think in Minnesota. I didn't realise there was anywhere in the US that used the word "pop" to refer to a drink. It isn't used around the UK much. It might be more widespread in the US than in the UK. I'll ask my other half later today because he's from the other end of the country. It isn't used in London. Wow, you learn something new every day.

I didn't realise there was anywhere in the US that used the word "pop" to refer to a drink. I grew up in Chicago and always called it 'pop.' Since then I've lived in various places around the U.S. and have found many regional differences everywhere. Supper or dinner? Expressway or freeway? Shopping cart or buggy? Highway or hardtop? New ORlins or New orLEANS? Envelope or onvelope? InSURance or INsurance?

We don't say pop dahn sahth me luv. They use it in Wiltshire. I knew I'd heard my boyfriends brother using the word, so I checked with my boyfriend and he says its an older term. But from what I can gather it is generally a northern England term, predominantly Yorkshire. This is way off topic.

I grew up in NC and in my early years heard "soda pop", two for the price of one.

Oh boy, well add Chicago to the list, because we say pop here too! LOL!! Back on topic, I don't think my name needs much explanation other than I'd sure like to be allowed into the Citidel to read for ....eternity....alas, I have girl parts lol.

In fact, I'm planning to come back here and steal from them every time I get stuck.

We say 'coke' for every non-alcoholic carbonated beverage. It is a buggy instead of a cart and dressing isn't what you pour on a salad...it is what you stuff a turkey with. A hissy fit is a tantrum thrown by a grownup. Dinner is the meal you eat at noon...supper is the last meal of the day. We say New ORlins.
