I looked at is someone who loves to learn. I saw Ravenclaws as working hard to learn as much as possible and being studious. I suppose it could be interpreted a lot of ways. I think the crux is that Ravenclaws don't tend to see learning as hard work. It's something that often comes easily to Claws because they are naturally curious about stuff. But when they are confronted with something that isn't interesting, they wouldn't work hard to study it. Because it's not interesting. Hufflepuffs, however, are more likely to pull through because it's something that "needs to be done". But you are right, this is definitely up for interpretation. This is how I interpret it though.

I've been re-reading the books lately and generally thinking a lot about the future of the franchise. I can't say that Fantastic Beasts really blew me away, it didn't. But I still enjoyed the movie for what it was and I've been reading interviews from the cast and crew and Jo. I've also been visiting fan sites and reading theories about the upcoming movies. What can I say? I'm pretty excited now. I know some of you are not excited because of Depp, and I understand that. I don't like him either, but I've made the decision to give him a chance because the stuff that I've been reading sounds really cool. Here are some facts that I read: - Did you guys know that the upcoming movies will all be named "Fantastic Beasts and..." just with a different continuation to the title? I don't know why I find that so cool, but it reminds me of "Harry Potter and..." <3 - David Heyman (producer) said that the next movie will be set in Europe and that the focus of the franchise will move away from Newt as the main protagonist. I assume Dumbledore will be the main protagonist in later films. However, Newt and the NYC crew will still play a role, which I like, because all the actors were pretty good IMO. - We will definitely see Hogwarts again. Come on guys, that IS exciting? And now comes my favourite fan theory: Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald in 1945. Did you guys know that Tom Riddle graduated Hogwarts in the same year? I'm calling it now: we are totally going to see Tom Riddle again. And there's more, I think one of the movies might retell the original events from Chamber of Secrets. Think about it, Dumbledore, Tom Riddle, Hagrid, the basilisk and Aragog! All of that happened around that time. Furthermore, the basilisk and Aragog fit the title of the movie perfectly: "Fantastic Beasts". Some fans theorise that Newt might be the "traveller from a distant land" who gave Hagrid the egg with baby Aragog in it. Also, they could show Tom taking inspiration from Grindelwald and opening the Chamber of Secrets. Jo will totally go there. Mark my words.

Glad to know that they're keeping the folks from the first movie around for a while. The characters and actors were all really good.
I doubt we'll actually see the first Chamber opening since we kinda know everything we need to about that, but I'd be surprised if it doesn't get a mention at least (maybe even cast a Tom Riddle?)
And Newt giving Hagrid the egg is such a fun idea that I'll be disappointed if that's not the case now.

I was thinking of it more as an additional side-plot for fans instead of the main focal point of the movie. I think what the movie could explore is how Tom was inspired by Grindelwald to become Voldemort. After all, they share a similar ideology and I'm sure Tom was influenced by that during his formative years. I don't think the books ever covered that and it would seem weird to leave that out considering that Dumbledore was a teacher at Hogwarts during that time and Grindelwald was at the height of his powers during Riddle's adolescence. We have to keep in mind that there will be a lot of movies and they'll need the material to keep these characters busy. I think whatever Grindelwald's plans are, they will definitely involve magical creatures. Newt giving Hagrid the egg just needs to happen.

shameful confession, I haven't seen the movie yet :O Basie, you really need to do that soon, because even though it's not a perfect movie, it actually does justice to the Potter books and enriches this universe. It feels like an extension of the world we know and love. The movie has "Joanne K Rowling" written all over it. <3 (Unlike Cursed Child that felt like bad fanfiction. )

I don't know why I haven't seen it yet, I even own the BluRay. Maybe I'll watch it tonight. I love Harry Potter so much. Ever since I became a fan at the age of like ten, I've simply never stopped reading the books. Ever. As soon as I finish them, I start over. Harry Potter gives me life.

Ever since I became a fan at the age of like ten, I've simply never stopped reading the books. Ever. As soon as I finish them, I start over. Harry Potter gives me life. I think this movie really profits from three things: 1.) not having a direct source material that we keep comparing it to, 2.) being written by Rowling who knows this world by heart and 3.) having really good actors (Eddie is the best ) Is it the best Potter movie? I don't think it is, because I think as a movie (in terms of direction, cinematography, pacing, score etc) Prisoner of Azkaban is pretty hard to beat. I mean was PoA a good adaptation? Meh, it was ok in that regard. But damn was it a well-made movie in its own right. As a director, David Yates just doesn't hold a candle to Alfonso Cuarón IMO. I love Harry Potter so much that I thought about writing my final thesis on it. But then I thought "damn you love this so much... you better don't ruin it with your freaking final thesis".

No way is it a coincidence that he opened the Chamber and generally started to be more evil at the same time when Grindelwald was most active. That sort of aspect is certainly something I'd like to see, even just a little.

They should get Frank Dillane to come back and play Tom Riddle again, should they show him at all.

So I watched Fantastic Beasts, and I loved it. The characters were so great. Especially Queenie and extra especially Newt. Say what you will about Eddie Redmayne, but he's one hell of an actor, omg. His character is so freaking adorable. Plus his hair was really good. Maybe I ought to reconsider my stance on Hufflepuffs. I giggled like a little girl every time they mentioned Hogwarts, or when Newt used Alohomora and Petrificus Totalus. One minor criticism I have is that the CGI wasn't the best. I liked the design of the creatures, but maybe they went a bit overboard with the cartoonieness. It's kind of weird how Dobby looked more believable than any of the elves or goblins in Fantastic Beasts. Before watching this, I was really sceptical of the idea of a Harry Potter expanded universe, but now I'm like, bring it on. It was really good. And they actually used magic in this movie about witches and wizards, holy shit. What the actual fuck were they thinking casting Johnny Depp in a role that we are meant to take seriously? That whole scene was cringy as fuck.

I loved all the mentions of known spells, characters and places. Every time someone mentioned something, I got progressively more hyped. The CGI was not that good, I agree. You know what was terrifying? That "death penalty" scene. Also, Ariana Dumbledore was totally an obscurial. What do you think? I'm very conflicted about Depp, because Colin Farrell did such an amazing job. I wish he were Gellert. Ps: Give me that pet niffler please. I want it. That thing is like a cute little pokemon.
