The other scene I enjoyed was Robert talking on his death bed (Not his dying). He says: "King Robert Baratheon, murdered by a pig". He doesn't use the word boar, he uses 'pig'. In most cultures, the pig is associated with women (mothers and wives), fertility, and harvest. In Hindu, the pig is linked to Vajravarahi, the female consort of Vishnu. Seems like a connection to Cersei. In Buddhism, it symbolizes ignorance, especially black pigs. Robert and Ned’s ignorance on how he died. Robert’s ignorance to Cersei and his children (mother, wife, and fertility). He also says 'murdered', telling us that this was no accident.
What wonderful insight, khaella ! I never noticed Robert's use of the word 'murdered' and I had no idea about the symbology of the pig - very interesting!
3. Theon / Osha / Maester Luwin
"If your father's lord, how can you be lord too?" - Osha
and...
Maester Luwin: Theon Greyjoy! The lady is our guest.
Theon Greyjoy: I thought she was our prisoner.
Maester Luwin: Are the two mutually exclusive in your experience?
And what about Osha's warning of "And they ain't sleeping no more?" (Luwin's denial of White Walkers)
There's one other thing, too, that I forgot to mention in a previous episode, when the wildling had a knife to Bran's throat - this time I saw the unfair element in Robb's response to Theon's killing the wildling with one shot, literally saving Bran's life. Yes, there was a risk, but in an earlier episode this season we saw Theon practicing archery and there was a comment made about that being a trademark of sorts with the Ironborn. So - the one thing that Theon legitimately had to feel good about - and the one heroic action that he took, were discounted by Robb. In that same scene, as soon as Robb finished berating Theon for shooting the arrow that killed the wildling, he asked Theon's advice (!), "What do we do with her?"
I didn't remember Osha specifically referring to The Long Night as she did, but from our very first introduction to her, she's flagging the WW for us.
