Ok, so the Conquest sounds a lot like GoT without actually being GoT. A lot of elements (the different houses, the locations etc.) are basically the same. That sounds reasonable.

Wouldn't Aegon's Conquest be a vaguely similar idea to Dany's story? A Targaryen with three dragons invading Westeros?
(Please no S7 spoilers)

(Please no S7 spoilers)The big difference being we'd see a ununited Westeros with even more kings running around than TWot5K. Aegon didn't really invade either, he was already there.

Yeah and he was actually offered land and stuff to kill people's enemies. I think an HBO narrative would focus on the relationships between Aegon and his sisters, which I think would probably make killer TV.

I would be for anything involving Daemon the Demon. But sounds like these are going to be all new characters in world with new stories.

Well the world book covers a lot, a paragraph can be an idea for a series. "I don’t especially like the term ‘spinoff,’ and I don’t think it really applies to these new projects. What we’re talking about are new stories set in the ‘secondary universe’ it's the new stories part. Like the dance is not new, Daemon is not new, so it seems like it's set in world, but not what he has already written. Like maybe we meet Daemon but he is just a cameo to a Protagonist we follow.Kind of like Dunk and Egg except with Terry and Puddles. Exploring different places and people and such.

A lot of the historical characters are kind of enigmatic. We know who they are and what they did, but GRRM hasn't really fleshed them out as people yet. Whereas we understand someone crazy like Cersei pretty intimately, another's psycho like Maegor is a complete mystery. There's still lots to discover and build. We know LF's scheming game well, but we don't know Alicent Hightower's plans and motives outside of the broad strokes.
Also, my phone originally autocorrected Maegor to Margie and I cackled.

Eh, he was basically a worse version of Robert Baratheon. History rhymes seems the rule of thumb in Martin's world. Generally I find some of the history gives us insight into current stories and characters. I know if you look at the Daemon era you will find a lot of parallels.

The slow realisation that you'll likely never see Robert Baratheon on-screen again It was too good to be true. The idea of seeing Robert with his hammer and lil Stannis holding Storm's End was so exciting. Damn shame. Wouldn't Aegon's Conquest be a vaguely similar idea to Dany's story? A Targaryen with three dragons invading Westeros? (Please no S7 spoilers)Pretty much, except the dragons would be much much larger. Which is why I'm not too keen on the idea of Conquest series. Same here. The conquest was way too "easy". Not really good entertainment. The dance however... Also I would LOVE a series about the Blackfyre rebellions. They're not as well known as the others and have plenty of interesting and refreshing characters.

Dunk and Egg and Egg are tired to 2 and more than likely 3 of the Blackfyre rebellions so we probably don't get those.
