It also looks like they'll be moving the story to the petroleum boom. Should be interesting. I was wondering about that. I thought it was an oil rig, then I noticed it had a cross, so I thought it was some weird looking church from the Wicker Man. Were they saying that oil is God? Then I felt like James Dean might appear and strike oil like he did in Giant. I don't know. Like I said in my other post, the show is just everywhere. By the way, are the people that work with Anthony Hopkins real or is he completely avoiding payroll taxes by employing only robots? Hmm, it could be a church too. I'm not familiar with the original source material so I was just guessing. Whatever it is, it'll probably be the beginning of a more cohesive plot as we'll see it grow from the beginning. Of course as the audience we also know that there are factors that the designer might not be taking into consideration as the androids are becoming more aware. On a similar vain, when the head designer (not Hopkins) was having that weird conversation with Dolores it made me wonder if there is an experiment going on that other people in the project may not be aware of. We sort of get a hint of this when the woman who is sleeping with the head designer is having that conversation with the story writer (I haven't learned the names yet) about what the guest want vs. what the board wants vs. what management wants. There is obviously more going on outside the game than we know about. Like there is more going on inside the game. I think most of the people workingwould be human, but I wouldn't be surprised if some are android. That would be interesting if they were all androids. Also, at the end of the first episdoe the guy who played Dolores; father said something funny to Hopkins, about him not knowing what he was truly part of. Which made me wonder if the head guy was working for the board and Hopikins was unaware of it.

It wouldn't surprise me if someone made the theory that the wolf in Dolores's dream was Arya's direwolf Nymeria and that she's a greenseer like Bran.

Oil!?! Interesting thought moif. I hadn't thought of that, but I suppose it fits in with Ford's speculation about resurrecting the dead. (Because oil is a result of decomposition). Also, oil is called, "black gold." (sorry to anyone who is now thinking of The Beverly Hillbillys and now has its theme music as an ear worm).
I noticed a brief flash of the weird derrick shape surrounded by graves in the upcoming on WW trailer. It's just a flash, but the graves seem to be there.
I also understand the impatience with the slow story line. It has been reported that the show is scheduled to run for five seasons which makes for a very slow roll. We'll see if it airs according to that optimistic projection.
Has anyone see the film lately or read the book? I saw the film many years ago, but don't remember any details about it except that the MIB character, played in the film by Yul Brenner, surprisingly turns out to be a robot. It seems impossible in the HBO version as the MIB is impervious to robot gunfire and the throwaway line about him that he can do as he likes. He is thirty year client after all, so he seems to be a "rich asshole"like the rest of the "newcomers." We'll see if he goes the way of the film.
As for the book, its author, Michael Criten (sp.?), seems obsessed with the theme park gone wild idea, as he also wrote Jurassic Park. I have a feeling that as the story line progresses, like the story in Frankenstein, noted above, people will be in big trouble in such a place.

I have a feeling that as the story line progresses, like the story in Frankenstein, noted above, people will be in big trouble in such a place. Nah the Man in Black, or The Gunslinger as he's called in the film, is known to be an android from the moment you meet him. The show has basically already surpassed the film in its thematic reach so I wouldn't take any cues from it. It's basically an entertaining parable on man's hubris and desire, resulting in its own creation fighting back. A hedonist's Jurassic Park. The show clearly wants to take the concepts formed from the idea of this park and explore them to their fullest. I don't think Ford will be so unaware of his creation's potential in this version. I enjoyed the second episode somewhat, but it was hard to live up to the pilot. I want significantly more Liam McPoyle, especially since his analogous character from the film was the main character. He also scrubs up well outside of that role, not a bad looking dude.

Great again. And I was pretty surprised they did that de-aging stuff for those brief shots of Anthony Hopkins in the past. I've heard that's really expensive CGI.

I'm suprised this episode was considered a weak one by the early reviewers. I thought it was better than the second episode, and almost as good as the pilot. Great again. I wonder if Ed harris is Arnold? That was my first thought.

I wouldn't consider this episode to be weak either, more so taking its time in crafting the characters and the overall story, which the show has done an excellent job in so far. And it's interesting too that this episode was directed by Neil Marshall, who also did Blackwater.

Another great episode. This one was co-written by one of my favorite comic writer's Ed Brubaker too. I can't get enough of the MiB. Glad we got a heavy dose of him after his absence last week.

What do we think about the foundation the MIB runs? I'm guessing something really good as a contrast to how awful he is int he park.

People on the subreddit mentioned it would be funny if he turned out to be a philanthropist or something. And for once they were right.
