Vikings with only the sons will WORK. That premiere was surprisingly good, moreso than most of 4a. They did a good job of humanizing Ivar. The way that scene with the girl ended was an intriguing twist. Still have no interest in Lagertha's sl, but was inevitably suckered in by Ragnar/Lagertha. Fimmel still made such an impression that I do think his absence will leave a big gap. (Not helped by the fact that Lagertha is the best surviving character but Hirst can't write for her very well without Ragnar or Bjorn around.)

Nice to just be in one place with the Vikings, no Paris, Wessex, etc. As a big Lagertha fan I was pretty dissapointed with her sl as well. Astrid seems like an annoying character that's going to take up too much screentime. Hope I'm wrong though. Ivar was great, but other than him and Bjorn the rest of Ragnar's sons are pretty meh.

I'm glad the Erlandur-looking Sigurd turned out to be a shit. Otherwise, it would have been too hard to overlook his resemblance to Erlandur.
And Lagertha vs. Aslaug starts already, sigh. With the thin provocation of Aslaug pulling rank in a sacrifice. I'd only care about Lagertha's inevitable victory if she were trying to avenge her granddaughter, but no one seems to care about l'il Siggy. Aslaug's random Cersei phase is even more annoying if only the audience ever knows about it. Treating "taking" Ragnar as her big sin (when Lagertha appears to have forgiven Ragnar himself) is stupid, as is saying "look what you've done with it [Lagertha's former world]" when Kattegat has been thriving with Aslaug as Queen without Ragnar or Lagertha.
The Ragnar/Aslaug stop on his Farewell Redemption Tour was another great scene.
NEXT WEEK ROLLO/BJORN REUNION!

Figured we might as well have a dedicated thread even if there's only a few of us watching it. No need for spoiler tags in here.
Another pretty good episode (4x12). I love when the show has scenes like the sacrifice/ritual. They tend to always nail them (like Blood Eagle).
I agree with LSB about the Ragnar/Aslaug scene too. Probably the best scene of the season so far.

Thanks, I was wondering about another thread but wasn't sure with Nezzer and Roose not even commenting on the new eps. Just wanted to be safe in the main thread in case anyone didn't want to know what's coming up next week.

I'm a big Rollo fan (at least I was before Paris), but Bjorn giving him a dunk in the sea was pretty good.

That was an awesome episode. Everything with Ragnar and Ivar has been great this year. I love Bjorn trying to manage his friendship with Floki while simultaneously trying to hold Halfdan off, AND figuring out how to keep Rollo safe from those who hate him. And I thought I would be annoyed with Lagertha vs Aslaug, but I actually didn't expect her to attack Kattegat so I'm really interested to see how far she gose. Loved that Torvi was involved as well, I hope she keeps being given more to do, she's been great.

i hope rollo is gonna get shirtless again if he really wants to be viking again.
i like torvi well enough, but i'm still annoyed with sl. it doesn't appear bjorn knew of his mother and wife's plans as he seems tight enough with his brothers/"the sons of the witch!" (unless he took hvitserk along just so there'd be one less to defend aslaug, but i don't think so). pretty shitty to set him up for conflict with them whenever he comes home imo.

I thought Lagertha taking out Aslaug would be more of a fuck yeah type moment for me after all these years, but I really just felt bad for Aslaug tbh.
Astrid needs to die asap. She's a horrible character.
Ragnar and Ecbert's scenes together were pretty good. Trying to enjoy the last bits of Fimmel we have left.

She's a horrible character. Ragnar and Ecbert's scenes together were pretty good. Trying to enjoy the last bits of Fimmel we have left. i srsly can't believe they really pushed the aslaug bewitching ragnar thing. that's just insulting to those of us who remember s1-2. if they wanted wanted to bring bad magic into it why not focus on aslaug letting li'l siggy die while she was high on harbard's magic dick. but no, it was all about her "stealing" ragnar and only erlandur 2.0 cares about harbard, but not bc of his poor niece, just mommy favoring ivar. at least aslaug got a good viking funeral like earl haraldson did and they didn't waste a gory death on her, which i was afraid of. astrid is the worst. it's like they wanna make it clear that ragnar was the love of lagertha's life by giving her shitty love interests but they could do that easier by just leaving her single. ecbert eating dinner with ragnar in a cage and having drunken theological discussions with him was the best. kween crazy's fatherless fake-viking son goes on the list of the show's random and pointless plotpoints.
