Gotdamn, that was even better than the s1 finale.
I wonder if that was meant to be the same knife Odda had used to kill Odda Jr.

I love what they did with Beamfleot. It didn't go down like in the books, but that would have been extremely difficult to pull off so I'm happy with the way they did this. I'll miss Sigefrid and Erik, they had excellent chemistry and were fucking awesome antagonists. I can't believe how well cast this show is. The only one I'm not sold on is Haesten. He looks dumb. also RIP Clapa you big strong motherfucker Also Finan is obviously the best of Uhtred's crew but Sihtric has the best look and I fucking love his expanded role. This is one of the best things they've done, they've expanded the roles of side-characters like Sihtric, Aethelwold, and Odda and taken Brida and Hild and given them more to do and the show is better off for it because every actor is so damn good. David Dawson is a fucking master and this is going to get him a ton of roles for a long time. Millie Brady was absolutely wonderful too and was everything I imagined Aethelflaed to be. She's a little larger than life, so I was nervous about Millie's ability to embody that at first but she nailed it. I can't wait for more Aethelflaed, she's one of my favorite characters for many reasons. Alex deserves an Emmy. He was fucking awesome this whole season. He was really good in season one, but he really took it to another level this season. He has the perfect face for such an emotional character like Uhtred and he really puts everything into his performance. Now we wait fifteen months.

I'm being really slow at getting through this, but the time jump at episode 5 really did wonders. Bringing Alfred back into the centre makes every other storyline pop out for me. I get there was a lot of setup required to get everyone in the positions they're in now, so I understand why the start of the season was so pulpy and rushed. But Uhtred is only ever interesting when he's playing off Alfred, otherwise he's just Generic Impulsive Protagonistman who fucks all the girls and wants revenge on everyone.

I like Uthred's relationship with his men, Beocca, etc. He's plenty interesting without Alfred. I thought Alexander Dreymon really improved this season too.

Sorry, I just didn't see anything in it that hasn't been done a thousand times over in hero narratives. The actor is fine, sure, but the character doesn't do much for me, I'd much prefer a show based around Alfred (though I understand a show like this needs a protagonist that drives the action).
What actually came from him being a slave for an episode? His friend died and was never mentioned again, then Uhtred got angry and impulsive as usual and murdered the mustache-twirling priest. I didn't see much growth from that at all, just more anger and revenge. And why didn't Beocca seem to care at all that he murdered a fellow clergyman?

Beocca isn't exactly the shining example of piety. He's fought and killed before, he talked mad shit to Skorpa, and he knows how Uhtred is. Plus he's completely loyal to Uhtred and will take his side no matter what Eadred's occupation. That's the difference between Beocca and Hild. Hild has been travelling with Uhtred and connects with him as a person, but she hasn't known him as long as Beocca and still has a lingering attachment to the church, which is why she's so shocked. This is nothing new to Beocca.

This is nothing new to Beocca. I don't know they've made it clear he isn't that pious, he's always chastising Uhtred about straying from god. From what I remember it isn't even mentioned though. Uhtred murders the priest, is threatened by Alfred, then all of a sudden Beocca is marrying him to Female Love Interest without a word about it. Felt inconsistent to me.
