Yes Basil! I'm glad people are watching it. I don't watch that show but that episode's the source of some good Hayley Atwell gifs... Konrad you should too. It's almost as cynical of modern life as you are, you'd enjoy it.

It's almost as cynical of modern life as you are, you'd enjoy it. I like Charlie Brooker too. So I'll get around to it one day. But as of yet the most I know of it is Ms. Atwell's beauty. Which isn't a bad thing to know about anything really, all thing's considered.

You want to talk about a truly gorgeous woman, check out Gugu Mbatha-Raw from the episode San Junipero. Which also happens to be my favorite episode.

The ending of White Christmas was so fucked up, seriously just thinking about it makes my stomach turn. In a way, I almost kind of wish I had skipped that one. I honestly thought that was a bit too much. Even if you're a hardcore, ruthless policeman or whatever, you've got to be a huge piece of shit to do something like that to another human being (and even if it is just a digitized copy of a person, it's still self-aware it can think and feel ... and those guys knew that). That was almost an obscene, unthinkable amount of sadism, especially considering that they knew that the guy was not a coldblooded killer at all, and his crime was one of passion and impulse, one that he regretted pretty much immediately. In what way did he deserve to be tortured for like millions of years, that's so fucked up. Great episode though, not my favourite by any means, but that ending was certainly the most disturbing one so far. I must say though, out of all dystopian scenarios in this show, the one in Nosedive is probably the one that would drive me insane the quickest. And omg, James Norton is such a beautiful man. I recognized him by his voice, he was Cole in Dragon Age Inquisition!

Omg, Shut Up and Dance was fucking brilliant. What a twist! At first I thought the entire premise of the episode was kind of weak, mainly that this kid would go to such lengths to keep the video from leaking ... but then the ending happened and suddenly everything made sense. Soo good! And scary, this was probably the most realistic episode so far, all the tech they showed here already exists in the real world.

Like wait a minute this kid is really going to rob a fucking bank to prevent a video of him jerking off being leaked? But the ending was one of the best of the series, imo. And they actually did setup some foreshadowing in the beginning when he gives the toy back to the little girl. I actually felt stupid for not figuring it out sooner.

Spoilers for Shut Up and Dance: I'm not sure why, because it really seems obvious in retrospect, but the thought that he was beating off to child pornography didn't even cross my mind while I was watching the episode. When the man in the woods alluded to it, it totally clicked and I too was angry at myself for not figuring it out earlier. Just finished watching San Junipero, and yeah ... as was to be expected, this was my favourite episode so far, and with only two more episodes left, I don't think that's going to change. I'm glad Kelly decided to pass over as well. It would have been so easy for a show like this to have her just die, leaving Yorkie alone in her new reality. That would have been a pretty dark, but also typical ending for this show. I'm glad they decided to go with optimism for a change, and to give us a sort of happy ending instead. And there is still the slightly bitter aftertaste of knowing that their reality isn't real. I don't know philosophy, so I'll probably sound like a noob, but I feel like this episode had some deeply philosophical themes as well. When Yorkie tried to convince Kelly to pass over, it reminded me of what Arya said in Game of Thrones about how nothingness is not better or worse than anything, it's just nothing.
But that was not the reason why I loved this episode. I loved it because it deeply affected me emotionally, which no other episode in the series has managed to do, despite most of them being amazing television. I love that at the heart of the episode there was a same-sex love story that did not end in tragedy. I was smitten by Kelly's enthusiasm, beauty and joie de vivre, and I saw myself in Yorkie, her awkward attempts to make conversation and to get closer to Kelly, because that was basically me after I came out and was trying to approach guys that I liked. The scenes between the elderly Kelly and comatose Yorkie were deeply moving, and I'm just so happy that it ended the way it did.
I also really enjoyed the atmosphere of the entire episode. The nostalgic, feel-good mood of the first twenty or so minutes (the dance scenes to classic 80s tunes were so great!) contrasted really well with the more sombre, quiet scenes in the present.
Absolutely wonderful episode. Kairos, you should watch this one! I think you'd love it.

I'm late on this, but I binged this recently and absolutely loved it. I can't stop thinking about it now. 15 Million Merits ,Be Right Back ,Nosedive ,San Junipero, A National Anthem - those ones are my favorites. The only one I flat out didn't like was The Waldo Experiment. Then there was White Bear and A Man Under Fire which I didn't like either but the endings somewhat saved them. A National Anthem threw me so much because damn....they really went there.

I try to get as many people as I can into this show.

I have not continued watching it (I still plan to, though). But I just wanna say that ever since I watched 15 Million Merits, I can't help but feel even more disgust and dread when I happen to stumble upon a talent show on TV. Watching that episode really affected me. I didn't like it but I will never forget it. Maybe I'm just too sensitive for this show. (I know, says the guy with the Pennywise avatar, but for some reason the tone of this show affects me more than any horror movie could)

Huh. I'm pretty sure I made more than just one post about Black Mirror. Anyway, I've seen San Junipero at least four times by now, that's how much I loved that episode. I also convinced my brother to watch it, and he loved it too.

White Christmas was really good too. I didn't read the summary of The National Anthem before watching it so the entire pig fucking thing took me by surprise, and I just kind of lol'd at the entire thing until the end. Then it was rough. Playtest was also really, really intense. It took me a while to recognize The Waif in Hated in the Nation. ETA I wrote "White Bear" instead of "White Christmas"
