belle tbh i don't get what's so bad about WF. I've heard complaints about it, but I don't have any issues tbh. The Stark bbs reunite, LF tries to turn them against each other but gets ganked. Sounds good to me. I know there's Bran spoilers that I'm not too familiar with, so maybe that's it... Winterfell is probably my least anticipated storyline but it was also the least fleshed out by the leaker so more stuff could be happening there than we're aware of. Before he dies, I hope Littlefinger reveals the full extent of his "masterplan" to Sansa, including his thoughts on how to handle Cersei (and ultimately how to take the throne).
I liked Al's idea that Sansa and Cersei could meet in season 8. Always had the feeling that these two would meet again and it wouldn't be good news for Cersei. Besides, I don't see a role for Sansa in the white walker battles. It will be strange seeing Arya and Bran back home again but maybe that's the point: to explore whether it even feels like "home" anymore. I have a feeling Arya will be super restless and uncomfortable there and Bran will sort of be in his own dimension.

There's some strong Arya-death foreshadowing in the first book, I think. They left that out of the show, but they also left out the valonqar bit so maybe they're just trying their best to avoid cryptic spoilers of this sort.

The whole premise of the wight hunt makes no sense so there's hardly room for improvement in logistics of the mission for that reason. Going on a suicide mission for Cersei presents a bunch of problems. 1. They don't need her. Their combined forces far outweigh hers. 2. Everyone knows her rep and Tyrion/Varys know exactly what she is like (yet they still approve of this foolishness?). She cannnot be trusted, she cannot possibly be an ally yet they're willing to risk their lives for this? On the off-chance she lets herself be convinced (a long shot) and is shaken enough to want to help? 3. Jon experienced the massacre at Hardhome. He knows wights don't travel solo (big risk) and nowadays White Walkers are right behind them wherever they go. He sooo should know better. And all he takes with him are a bunch of guys (a few of them strangers to him)? Did he really think it'd go well? Unlike his book version, Jon is now nothing more than an action hero (of the dumb, impulsive kind) on the show. It's all about action and reaction. The whole thing just undermines the characters so badly. 4. Jon's the King now. He's responsible for a whole Kingdom and yet he is still eager to go on a suicide mission himself, instead of setting the Night's Watch and/or Wildlings on it if they need that "proof". "Proof" that book!Jon already has in his grasp by A Dance with Dragons. Both the premise and the execution sound bad. The plan for the hunt doesn't seem to have much going for it. I think the fact that the wight hunt seems to be an abject failure is what makes it interesting in the first place. If they had captured that zombie with no losses and then successfully won the alliances they needed, it would have made for a terrible story development. But as it is, it explores recurrent themes in Jon's storyline, namely his relentless, overwhelming idealism (he thinks he can unite the world), which sometimes does more harm than good. He'll be surprised by how little humanity changes even when faced with the end of the world. I think this is an essential part of his story and he will either grow out of it in season 8 or fail miserably one last time. It also raises interesting questions about Jon's (and the North's in general) deep-rooted fatalism. The Starks have been telling us that "Winter is coming" for so long now that we believe them. But the leaks present a curious situation. The Night King does not cross the Wall when Bran goes through it, as some of us thought would be the case pre-leaks. It's only after Jon and Dany go into white walker land and give the Night King a dragon that the so-called apocalypse is set in motion. There's some wonderful irony there that has to be 100% intentional. It's the heroes, not the villains, who make their worst fears come true. This sounds like classic GRRM to me and if I had to bet, it is based on something that will go down in the books (if it was just a meaningless action scene you wouldn't use it as the climax of your penultimate season). The final irony is that they don't even get the alliances they wanted. Cersei smells weakness and denies them their army. Jaime rides north but he's only one man (no matter how important this may turn out to be in the future). Whether the white walkers would have ever crossed the Wall without Jon and Dany's help is, I think, unclear. Honestly, pretty much everything about them is unclear at this point, but my gut tells me the Starks have it all wrong and there's something we're not seeing. I think season 8 won't deal so much with an actual apocalypse as it will about how the numerous characters react to the prospect of it. And that will define the kind of people they are by the end. It's not about the ultimate failure of the mission it's about it being unnecessary and its execution being foolish. Doubtful something like that will happen in ASOIAF seeing as the circumstances are totally different. There's an Aegon plotline to occupy Daenerys once she reaches Westeros, Beric is permanently dead, Lady Stoneheart controls Brotherhood and they're busy with the Freys. The Hound's storyline is also heading in a different direction. Jorah does not have greyscale, he's banished atm but who knows what happens to him. Jon is currently dead, and it's basically confirmed his show resurrection and what he's like afterwards vastly differs from what GRRM intends (not to mention Jon's upcoming arc as warged in Ghost will take some time). There is no Night King in the books. It's likely there already exists an ice dragon that the Others control so they don't need one of Dany's. Jon in the books would not even think up such a silly plan as the wight hunt. But most importantly Jon already has a captive wight at his disposal so there'd be no need to go looking for one.

Sounds good to me. I know there's Bran spoilers that I'm not too familiar with, so maybe that's it... We also know very little about how things go there step by scene by scene since way more people asked Lads about Jon and Dany. I like how all three siblings play their part in bringing him down. r/freefolk seems to be trying to spin that as it all being about Sansa but I don't see how that's the case. Bran provides the intel, Sansa makes the call and Arya does the deed. That fits with all of their training and respective roles pretty damn well. Exactly this! My love for Arya has me most intrigued for the Winterfell story arc in Season 7 and the reunion. Sansa being in charge there doesn't really change anything for me, and Bran returning just ties it all together and finally gives him renewed purpose beyond the way too long journey beyond the wall that's taken him out of the picture pretty much most of the story so far until now. Arya and Bran have had a similar journey in that they were removed entirely from the Westeros scene for ages which has caused a lot of fans to lose interest (or even outrightly dislike) their story. It was the long game I bought into with Arya, knowing eventually it would come full circle as it will for Bran as well. The three surviving Stark children are now going to be reunited and a powerful force to put their house back together. Each has learned a great deal in their respective roles as you pointed out. The politician, the assassin, and the mystic.

I definitely understand the fears about Winterfell being made into all about Sansa with Arya and Bran simply revolving around her. That's my biggest fear for it. D&D obviously love Sansa and I don't feel that love for Bran at all, and to a lesser extent with Arya. I think it's a valid concern. I'm just afraid Bran will disappear and Arya will only serve to be angsty with Sansa.
I hope that's all wrong though. Since the Starks are my favorite, that's the story I'm most looking forward to.

From the lads leaks about Bran basically being completely zoned out all season long, I really do think this is going to happen. The Winterfell plot is literally: 1. Bran, Arya and Sansa reunite 2. LF plants the letter to turn Arya and Sansa against each other 3. Arya and Sansa have an argument 4.Sansa asks Bran about LF 5.LF dead It just seems so simple and blaahhhhh, I'm sure the LF death scene will be well executed (pun intended lol) but from the spoilers...the journey to get there isn't very interesting imo

Except for some reason Sansa waits till ep 7 to ask him about the man who sold her off to Ramsay lmao

Also neither r and l come across as good at all in these leaks. Poor Elia and her children. Rhaegar is trash

I just asked on r/freefolk why rhaegar just didn't marry them both. I mean, two wives isn't unheard of in the targaryen family (hello, aegon the conqueror). Annulling a marriage seems like an extra, unncessary complication. besides, i would think that also disinherits Aegon and Rhaenys, which would be the ultimate fuck you to his own wife and children.

I can't wait for Sam to tell Jon in season 8 that his aunt is pregnant with his baby and that his child will also be his cousin lmao. The memes that are gonna spurn out are going to be delicious. I hope Jon and dany climax at the same time as Jon's targ name is revealed

I'm less concerned about her being 16 years old because, in Westeros, that's an adult. She was already old enough to be engaged. Sansa's probably 16 or 17 at this point, and she seems mature enough to fall in love with someone, so I'm not too pressed about Lyanna's age. But I don' want Dany to be pregnant. That would sideline her for the whole battle against the NK, unless they want to have a pregnant woman riding a dragon, which would be a weird visual. And yeah, that will be very bizarre to be watching them bang while also learning they are related. And I'm not really expecting much actual sexiness for the boat sex. Being that it's Jon and Dany fucking while the wall falls, I think they'll want to do a more ominous tone, and less bewbs in our face.

Imo it's 99.9% likely that dany will get knocked up from boat sex. honestly I'm a little unsure of how much battle we'll get and the structure of it but there's no way that dany is getting sidelined in season 8 in any shape or form. I'm beyond excited for the boat sex lol, but there's no doubt in my mind that this whole Jon/dany thing will be a little cheesy.
