Here we appreciate the genius that is Ramin Djawadi!
I'll start with picking 3 tracks from every season.
Season 1:
1.
It has to be the famous King in the North- soundtrack. This was used during the coronation of Robb Stark (one of my favorite scenes in S1) and it fits the scene perfectly. Emotional yet strong.
2.
One of the saddest soundtracks in the entire series. Raw, beautiful and heartbreaking. Damn Starks and their depressive soundtracks
3.
This beats "Fire and Blood" narrowly for me. This soundtrack was used all the time in S1 and it just amazingly displays us the tension rising. Some aspects of the Baratheon theme involved as well (later LF's theme)
Season 2:
1.
This might be my favorite soundtrack from all time. The climax is amazing.
2.
The Greyjoy soundtrack was so good this season. Majestic piece. This track was reused in S6 and S4.
3.
Stannis's theme. Creepy and mysterious.
Honorable mention to the Rains of Castamere
Season 3:
1.
This season was dominated by the Lannisters and so was the OST. This cello version of the Rains of Castamere is brilliant.
2.
Dark, really really really dark, one of the most tragic in the entire OST.
3.
I had to decide if I would take "It's always summer under the sea" or this. A hard choice, but since I haven't had any Dany tracks yet, now is the time. A very triumphant song that fits the subject of liberation perfectly.
Season 4:
1.
Stark theme blending into the Lannister theme. Perfect.
2.
Damn shame this wasn't used. This heroic track blends the themes of the NW, Jon and Stannis (Blackwater drums) all together.
3.
A tie between this, "the North remembers", "You are no son of mine" and "Mhysa". This is so mysterious and intriguing.
Season 5:
1.
Nothing will ever beat this. This is a bloody brilliant mix of Grejoy/Reek, Stark, Stannis and Bolton.
2.
I really love the Rains of Castamere and this version is awesome. This really sad and tragic version of the song is absolutely fantastic. I never get bored of Ramin "recycling" his tracks. For example Kill the Boy from the same season is another version of Pay the iron price and I love that version as well.
3.
This should have been used. Beautiful version of the main theme.
Season 6:
1.
By far the best OST Ramin has ever done. All tracks deserve to get in the top 3. I will probably change my opinion when I listened to them a bit more than this. But yeah, Light of the Seven is spectacular, it doesn't sound anything like the other OST. Hauntingly beautiful. I really hope that they play this in 6x10.
2.
This is so epic and triumphant. The ultimate good guy theme for the Starks/Vale. I loved the title as well. I do hope Sansa and Jon will trust each other.
3.
Dany's theme + Greyjoy theme = orgasmic
Do you approve my choices? What are yours?
