What I meant is that without the books his fans will forever believe that he had great twists and turns in mind when it comes to Dorne, LSH, Aegon, Stannis,LF's death...

I know I get annoyed at GRRM for being such a slow writer. But you have to give credit where its due. He's pretty good with twists and shocking/dramatic moments. Plus a lot of bare bones for the shock moments on the show have already been foreshadowed in the books so its reasonable to think they'll happen in the books too. I believe that in TWOW/ADOS: -Wildfire will play a part in the KL storyline -LF will be killed by Sansa -a lot of the Dornish will die (bc they'll side with Faegon) -Roose and Ramsay will die -Jon and Dany will fuck But just in different and probably more complicated ways that they're happening in the show. if TWOW ever gets finished, its going to be so much fun to read the more detailed and slow-burn developments to some of these shock moments imo.

While I'm not certain Martin will finish the books alone before his death, I'm certain we will know his end of the story. It might take a while

What I wanted to say is that his books are so hyped that there is no way they will live up to the expectations. You can see that by the book fanatics reaction to the show. I really hope that he would be able to finish TWOW, but I don't have much hope. I'm sure that the books will be finished eventually, only not by him. I know what he said on that subject, but the books are still too popular to remain unfinished. With TWOW I think he will be forced to write some resolutions. If by the end of that book storylines in Meereen, Braavos and the Vale are not over he is a lost cause.

I'm certainly optimistic that GRRM is going to finish Winds, i doubt he will finish Spring however. Considering that he is more into writing Fire and Blood an arguably Dunk and Egg judging by his latest news an releases, i think he's more invested in writing those than the main series. And while i'm all into plot twists which GRRM is really great at, i don't want them to come off as conspiracy theory however. And i'm looking at certain book fans...

If by the end of that book storylines in Meereen, Braavos and the Vale are not over he is a lost cause. Nothing can ever fully meet EVERYONE's expectations. That's always been the case lol. And it's going to continue to be that way. it's a fundamental part of human nature. I just disagree with you that him not finishing the books is better for his legacy. Even if TWOW/ADOS ends up getting trashed by a majority of fans and critics, some people will still definitely love it. And some people loving it is still much better than no one loving it because they never got a chance to love it in the first place

If there's one thing I would criticize that could have definitely helped the show, it would probably be having more writers considering how massive the story is or at least more reading through the scripts and offering their suggestions before they go forward with it, but it's still one of my favorite TV shows even if some things they have done frustrated me. Nothing is without its flaws and that goes for George too, he isn't a perfect writer and that's what makes him human like a lot of the characters he's created. All of them have their individual strengths and weaknesses and different perspectives of the world.

Ironically, maybe the best thing to happen to his legacy is the fact that he won't finish the books.

Btw Al, someone from WOTW spotted Wyman Manderly in the trailer. So he can be added to your timeline if someone can confirm his appearance (I'm terrible at that). They also said Cerwyn might be in the big WF hall shot but they weren't sure.
