quick thoughts: -tbh i don't know how i feel about jon/dany scenes. idk it was so weird seeing them interact, like i was watching two characters from two completely different shows. i did LOVE LOVE the music that started swelling up in their one-on-one scene when dany softened up to him tho. ramin is always so great -loooooooooooved the cersei/tyene/ellaria scene. so tense and dark and great. both lena and indira killed it. -i was really dreading the jaime/cersei sex scene but it was OK actually. mostly because it was pretty short lol. lena is so hot, its a shame about that wig. it really is. -yeah mel and varys are both goners. -sansa was actually OK in this episode, liked all her emotional reactions. sucks that her reunion with bran wasn't as sweet as she thought it would be . bran was so weird and creepy but i also kind of feel sorry for him. -thought the last two scenes in casterly rock and highgarden were pretty good. -now i've made clear many times that i'm not an olenna or tyrell fan in general. but i liked that they gave diana rigg a great goodbye scene. she deserved that, and her performance was of course awesome. i'll do a rewatch tomorrow and give more thoughts but overall i'd say this is the best ep out of the three.

There was some absolutely exceptional dialogue this ep. Another D&D penned gem. If it wasn't clear already, I don't think anyone should have any issues with these guys being able to write the end of this show without any Martin prose to fall back on.

I think they've really proven what good showrunners and storytellers they are, even without GRRM's prose. Season 6 and now 7 have been my favorite seasons.

Oh now Dany wants to tell the audience the name of her non-Drogon dragons? Bout time Khaleesi. She did call out their names when they were locked up in the dungeon of her pyramid in Meereen.

For sure, it's just something that rarely ever comes up. Tonight was a very conscious effort to tell the audience that these other 2 dragons have names too and perhaps we'll be doing more stuff with them later.

Meera named her father in the first episode even though she did not need to do so. Gives me hope that HR will eventually show up on the show, maybe even within this season. Varys' true origin is teased on more than on one occasion. It is high time someone finally outs him as a Targ bastard. That's why his member was sacrificed because he has king's blood. I need someone on the show to say that out loud. I was hoping it would be Mel this episode but no cigar I have been wrong about these foreshadowing, mind you. Golden Company was mentioned out of the blue multiple times during the fourth season. I was *convinced* that we will see Young Griff during the fifth season

Varys' true origin is teased on more than on one occasion. This was also the second time a Red Priestess has rattled his chain and shook him up with foreshadowing of his past and his destiny/purpose. I think he was playing smug and accusatory (the same as he did with Kinvara) until Mel turned the tables on him and let him know he's going to die there like her. I want more than ever to know BOTH of their backgrounds! Also, I'm so very glad they went with a guilty confession from Mel. She could have played it off with Varys but she told the truth without actually saying what happened. She admitted she made mistakes. I appreciated that and Carice did a good job continuing the sad/defeated Melisandre journey.

I want more than ever to know BOTH of their backgrounds! Even though they are polar opposite now, their origins are strikingly similar. - Both were child slaves.
- Both are very likely to be Blackfyre from different generations
- Both were born in Essos. Varys in Lys and Mel probably also from Lys or somewhere nearby or Volantis (not Asshai though)
I would not be surprised if they are closely related, perhaps even from the same Blackfyre bloodline.

Well that was clearly an all-time classic episode. A brilliant hour, really, and I don't know how they can top it this season (yes, most of the action is still to come, but this episode was seriously rich in every way).
Seeing all the characters coming to terms with dying beliefs.... from Mel to Jaime to Olenna to of course Dany and Jon. I thought Jon's arrival to Dragonstone was magnificent, and their first meeting was perfectly handled. Would have been awful for this to be some kind of harmonious scene: it had to be a clash, and the dark setting, the dialogue, the conflicting ideas and the acting all added to it. But it was a clash with some hope in the end.
I was mesmerized by the Melisandre and Varys scene and I will lose it when they both die next season (now totally confirmed). Carice's acting was truly beautiful in this scene. She went beyond the broken persona of season 6 into something new and unknown. She felt cleansed.
(By the way, Mark Mylod may not be the greatest director in GOT but his visual handling of Dragonstone is fucking magnificent the entire episode).
Euron's parade, Cersei's glee... I don't think they've turned her into another Ramsay at all. There was visible hurt and agony in the scene with Ellaria and Tyene. And Indira Varma gave it her everything as well.
In Winterfell, there is that beautiful moment between Sansa and Bran that confirms nothing will ever be the same, not in Winterfell, not anywhere. To see Sansa so utterly shaken by her brother's words (in some way even afraid of her brother) was heartbreaking and it also helps shatter her worldview. She now knows there is a bigger game being played here.
And finally, Olenna... This scene was the heart of the episode for me. And I was not expecting that to be the case because I actually wasn't as big fan of Olenna as some people, how she was used as comic relief even when it didn't make any sense. But Diana Rigg gave a fucking beautiful performance in this last scene. She went out true to her style, still hanging on to her old beliefs, but she knew those beliefs to be broken. She was indeed a broken woman by the end (in terms of having a single purpose that came crashing down), but with a kind of indefatigable spirit all the same. This scene killed me, really.
So.... game-changing episode and a total 10, methinks.
