EPISODE 1: DRAGONSTONE (59 minutes)
Cold Opening, The Twins: Arya holds a banquet at the Twins using Walder's face. She cheers on the Freys and then makes a toast. The women and the serving girls look on, but are excused from drinking. When tall of the Frey sons drink their cups, Arya gives a speech about how leaving a wolf alive was their mistake and now the sheep are being slaughtered. Their mouths start to fill with bloody foam and they all are killed from the poison. Arya then turns to Walder’s young wife and says, “When they ask you what happened here. Tell them the North remembers. Tell them winter came to House Frey.”
Beyond the Wall: A horde of wights is marching with mounted white walkers at their side. The Night King appears on his horse as the cold winds continue to rise.
Castle Black: Bran returns from a vision. Meera pulls Bran on a new sled outside of Castle Black and the gates open. Edd and some members of the night's watch appear and Meera introduces herself. She introduces Bran and says he knows about the fist of the first men. They then bring them inside as Bran continues to stare at The Wall.
Winterfell:
*Jon and Sansa are holding court in the Great Hall of Winterfell. Davos sits at the High table with them, now acting as Jon’s Hand. Brienne and Podrick sit near the high table. Tormund, Littlefinger, Lyanna Mormont, Yohn Royce, Robett Glover, and Maester Wolkan are also present for the meeting. They all discuss the imminent threat of the white walkers and how to prepare the defenses. Jon insists that they starting mining obsidian. “Dragonglass kills White Walkers and now it’s more valuable than gold,” Jon says. “Yesterday’s wars don’t matter, The North needs to band together.” Tormund makes a speech. Sansa wants to give the lands of those who betrayed Jon to those who supported him. Jon refuses to hold the children (Alys Karstark and Ned Umber) of the families responsible for the actions of their fathers. This doesn’t please Sansa or Lyanna. Jon mentions that every men, women, and child should be trained to fight, as they won’t win if half of the population does nothing. As one of the lords objects, Lyanna says, “I’m not going to sit and knit while my north fights for its survival.” Sansa continues to interrupt Jon when it comes to what to do with the houses that betrayed them. Jon sends Tormund and a wildling host to man Eastwatch as he believes that will be the first defense that the Night King strikes. Jon then asks Alys and Ned Umber to pledge their allegiance. They then draw out their swords and bend the knee to Jon.
*Sansa and Jon argue about her decision during the meeting. Sansa then makes the point that he shouldn’t make the same mistakes as Ned. She says that while Ned and Robb were noble, it got them killed and she doesn’t want the same to happen to Jon. Sansa and Jon then get a raven from Cersei saying to swear their allegiance or die. Sansa tells Jon that she’s crazy, but Jon says that they united the north, winter is here, and that they are a southern army. Jon believes the pressing enemy is the Night’s King while Sansa believes it’s Cersei and doesn’t want him to be too dismissive of her.
King's Landing:
*Cersei talks to the painter of her Westeros map in the Red Keep and examines it with Jaime. Cersei and Jaime discuss how they are surrounded by enemies in all four directions. They argue about what the next move will be against the great houses and Jaime insists they talk about the death of Tommen, but Cersei calls Tommen a traitor.
*Cersei, Jaime, and Gregor meet on the Red Keep walls looking out over the Blackwater. They see a fleet of Greyjoy ships in the Blackwater lead by Euron. Jaime protests saying that the Greyjoys are nothing but weak who steal only because they can't grow food themselves. Cersei mentions that they are here for a queen. *Cersei and Jaime meet with Euron in the Throne Room. Jaime gets jealous when Euron does this. They argue about when the Lannisters invaded the Iron Islands during the Greyjoy rebellion. Euron comes forward, but the Mountain steps in front threateningly and Euron backs off. Euron comes to make a deal with Cersei and suggests that he would make a good husband. He offers his navy to her, but Cersei refuses his marriage proposal. Euron says he'll return with an invaluable gift that she can't refuse.
Oldtown:
*At the Citadel, Sam meets Archmaester Ebrose, who has an expertise in the art of healing, in the autopsy chamber. Sam is weighing a heart and a brain. He speaks to Archmaester Ebrose, who has an expertise in the art of healing. Sam argues back and forth with Ebrose who he’s doing an autopsy. Ebrose tells him that whenever big moments in history have happened, everyone thought it was going to be the end of the world, but it never came to be. He claims he believes Sam believes the White walkers are real, but shows doubt himself. He denies the right to look at the books and asks Sam why he thinks the maesters exist. Sam shrugs and Ebrose says that without the books, without the knowledge of history, men would be primitive and just be dogs looking for the next meal.
*Sam steals the keys to the restricted section of the library from Ebrose while he is sleeping. Sam takes several books from the shelf and brings them back to his quarters.
The Riverlands: Arya encounters some Lannister soldiers on the Kingsroad. One of them sings Symon Silver Tongue's song about Tyrion and Shae from the books. "He rode through the streets of the city, Down from his hill on high, O'er the wynds and the steps and the cobbles, he rode to a woman's sigh. For she was his secret treasure She was his shame and his bliss And a chain and a keep are nothing Compared to a woman's kiss (and the rest of the soldiers join him for the chorus) For hands of gold are always cold but a woman's hands are warm.” They talk about recent events and how they are on their way to help investigate what happened at the Twins. Arya appears noticeably nervous, but she is invited to join them for supper. As Arya is sharing a meal with them, they tell her stories about being a soldier in the Lannister army and she visibly feels sorry for them realizing they have no love for their masters. One guy misses his family and talks about him being a new father hoping that it’s a girl so she doesn’t get sent to fight other men’s wars. They ask her why she’s headed to King’s Landing and Arya replies that she’s going to kill the queen. They all laugh hysterically.
The Riverlands:
*On their way to the Wall, Sandor accompanied by the brotherhood without banners discover the farmer's cottage that he and Arya stayed at on the way to The Eyrie. He finds the dead bodies of the father and his daughter.
*Thoros asks him to look into the flames and tell him what he sees. Sandor does it and sees a vision of a giant mountain shaped as an arrowhead. Thoros then asks Sandor if he believes now and Sandor is unsettled.
*Sandor tries to recite the seven gods prayer, but can’t remember it. Sandor asks Beric that if a god exists, why is he so cruel. Sandor digs a grave for the father and his daughter, which surprises his companions.
Winterfell: Brienne trains Pod in the courtyard. Brienne then converses with Tormund. Sansa and Littlefinger talk on the courtyard balcony. Sansa isn't in a good mood after having an argument with Jon. Brienne then joins them and Littlefinger walks off.
Oldtown:
*Sam begins reading through several books with Gilly and Little Sam in his quarters. Gilly takes a book from Little Sam called Legends of the Long Night. While she reads that, Sam is reading about Dragonstone and realizes that it is full of Dragonglass and he remembers that Stannis had told him as much before, but he'd paid no mind to it.
*Sam is feeding the sickly going cell by cell to fill their empty bowls. He eventually goes to take Jorah’s as his hand lashes out. His hand and arm are covered completely in greyscale. Jorah doesn’t show his face, but asks Sam if Dany has arrived yet. Sam, terrified, answers no and Jorah then goes back into his cell in the shadows.
Dragonstone: Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion fly above the castle. Dany, Tyrion, Missandei, Varys, Grey Worm, and the Targaryen army land on the beaches of Dragonstone. Dany touches the sand emotionally as it once was her family's ancestral home. She heads up the steps towards the castle with her entourage and the gates open. Dany then walks up the stairs to the keep and enters the castle. She explores the Dragonstone castle, pulls down the flaming heart Baratheon banner, walking through the audience chamber up to the throne, and then reaches Stannis' old War Room. She looks out the window at the land ahead that used to belong to her family. She picks up one of the chess-like pieces on the table and looks at Tyrion, who has followed her up. She says one line: "Shall we begin?"
EPISODE 2: STORMBORN (59 minutes)
Dragonstone:
The War Councils: Dany speaks to Varys about where his loyalties lie. She brings up that he and his allies traded her off to the Dothraki like a pawn. Varys goes on about how Robert wasn't a good king. He wants a ruler who cares for the people who live in it and not for power and glory. Varys won't pledge full loyalty because it's in the streets. / Dany and Tyrion discuss the strongholds of Westeros in the war room and begin plotting the invasion. Tyrion knocks down one of the Lannister markers. Missandei, Varys, Theon, Grey Worm, Yara, Ellaria, and Olenna are also present. Olenna, Ellaria, and Yara insist on hitting King's Landing will full force taking it in a day at most. Tyrion and Varys believe it will be better to win the loyalty of the Lords since Cersei has many enemies and they don't want her to be known as "The Queen of Ashes." Dany eventually favors Tyrion's approach, which is to have the Greyjoy fleet travel back to Dorne with the Sands and to hit King's Landing with the fleet once an army supplied by Olenna's men take Casterly Rock. Tyrion says that it's better to win the old fashioned way and not allow the Dothraki to pillage and rape because it will make her look like another mad Targaryen. Everyone leaves except for Olenna who gives Dany advice saying Tyrion is a clever man, but she outlasted all the clever men because she doesn't listen to them. Olenna says that most people are sheep, but Dany is a dragon so be one.
Melisandre arrives: Dany is told that Melisandre has arrived. They go to meet her. Dany and Mel speak in Valyrian about the Red Priests in the east when Dany was in Slaver's Bay. Mel tells her that a big evil is coming and alludes to the fact that Dany could be the Prince that was Promised. Dany notes that she is not a prince, but a queen and Missandei mentions that in the original language the term is genderless and can mean either other. Mel says that prophecies are dangerous things. She also insists that Dany meet Jon and have him tell her what he has seen and gone through. Tyrion stunned with the news that Jon is now the King in the North insists that Dany meets with him and vouches for his character, saying that he would make a great ally. Dany agrees and tells Tyrion to send a raven to Winterfell informing him to come to Dragonstone and "Bend the knee."
Grey Worm and Missandei: During the night, Grey Worm sharpens his dagger before departing for Casterly Rock. Missandei comes to see him and say goodbye. They have a conversation about how Greyworm now has one fear and that is not seeing Missandei again. Grey Worm talks about how they do not belong in Westeros after Dany takes the throne and asks Missandei if she would like to see Naath again. She says her people are peaceful and cannot protect themselves. Grey Worm responds by saying the Unsullied are not peaceful and can protect Missandei’s people. They end up kissing and Missandei removes her clothes. She removes Grey Worm's top but when she tries to remove his lower clothing he grabs her on the wrist gently to stop her. She says she wants to see all of him. He objects but then nods and she removes his clothes. They go to the bed where Grey Worm kisses her face, neck, and breasts. He moves downwards but the camera remains focused on Missandei’s face as she receives pleasure.
King's Landing:
*Cersei invites the loyal lords to the throne room and informs them of Dany and her armies of Dothraki and Unsullied. She says they need to pledge allegiance to her or they will lose their wives and children to rape and pillaging. Randyll Tarly is among them. She successfully convinces Randyll to betray the Tyrells. As the lords leave, Jaime follows Randyll and asks him if he would be the top general in the war to come. Randyll agrees and Jaime offers him a worthy title in exchange for his military expertise. Randyll tells Dickon that once he's done defeating the Tyrells, he will go to Oldtown and deal with Sam.
*Cersei and Qyburn go into the basement beneath the Red Keep where the skulls of the dragons are housed. Cersei mentions that she's never been down here, but Robert would sometimes drink and admire them, even with his whores. Qyburn tells her about the dragons, including Balerion the dread. He mentions how Drogon was injured in the fighting pits with spears. He shows her a giant crossbow device and demonstrates it on the skull of Balerion. He shoots it and it goes through the dragon's skull.
Oldtown:
*Sam and Ebrose meet with Jorah to analyze his condition. Sam mentions that Shireen was cured. Ebrose asks Sam if he is knowledgeable in the spreading rates of greyscale between an infant child and full-grown man. Sam doesn't and Ebrose explains that the two situations are very different. Shireen was caught early as to stop it from spreading. Jorah is too old and the greyscale is too far formed for anything to be done. Ebrose says that he's too far gone and has about 10 years to live, but 6 months until he becomes one of the stonemen. Out of respect of his knighthood, he is allowed to stay one more night, but then will be sent to Old Valyria.
*Sam and Ebrose are in the library. Sam tries to convince Ebrose of attempting to cure Jorah, citing an old maester who managed to cure two people before. Ebrose says that he died of greyscale and the procedure is extremely dangerous hence why it's banned from the citadel. He finds the book detailing how to cut off the scales and treat it with a special ointment.
*Sam sneaks into Jorah's cell at night and attempts to cure his greyscale. Sam begins to cut chunks of skin off with a scalpel. Sam then takes the scalpel and plunges it into Jorah's chest. It's incredibly painful for Jorah and takes all night.
The Inn at the Crossroads/The Kingsroad:
*Arya continues south and stops at the Inn at the Crossroads. She overhears some men behind her discussing King's Landing and how Cersei blew up the Great Sept of Baelor. She then reunites with Hot Pie who gives her some cooking tips and tells her that she's pretty. Finally, he informs her that the Boltons no longer hold Winterfell and that Jon is King in the North. Arya then makes the decision to turn north and head towards her family instead of finishing her list.
*Arya camps out in the woods alone and builds a fire to keep warm. She becomes surrounded by a pack of wolves. She comes across Nymeria while she is traveling north. Arya tries to connect with her, but realizes that she is too wild now and continues to Winterfell.
Winterfell:
Jon receives an unexpected raven: Young men and boys are shooting arrows at targets preparing for the war against the undead. Sansa reads the letter sent by Tyrion. She believes it's a trap, but Jon reads the last quote, "Dwarfs are bastards in the eyes of their fathers." He knows these are Tyrion's words, but still thinks it's not safe to leave Winterfell.
Jon decides to go south: Jon receives another raven, but this time it's from Sam saying that Dragonstone is confirmed as a mine for Dragonglass. Jon tells Sansa and Davos that they need it for weapons against the wight walkers. / Jon has another meeting with all of the Northern houses and tells them the news. The Northern Lords are against him going, including Lyanna, and then Sansa also says that it's not a good idea. Jon says it's a risk worth taking and that he is going to leave Sansa in control of Winterfell until his return. She is caught off guard by his decision. J
Jon says his goodbyes: Jon visits the crypts and sees a statue of Ned. He breaks down in front of it. Littlefinger creeps in the shadows and then approaches Jon. He starts trying to worm his way into Jon’s confidence. Littlefinger talks about Jon owes him for bringing the Knights of the Vale during the Battle of the Bastards. Littlefinger tells Jon, "Your father and brothers are gone, yet here you stand. The last best hope against the coming storm." He talks about how he brought Ned's bones back to Winterfell, how much he respected Ned, and how much he loved Catelyn. Jon forces him up against a wall and threatens him once Littlefinger starts talking about how much he loves Sansa. Jon tells him that if touches Sansa, he will kill him. / Sansa and Littlefinger stands on the courtyard balcony as Jon and Davos ride out of the courtyard accompanied by Stark guards. Littlefinger looks thrilled on his way from his crypts while Sansa looks distressed.
In the Narrow Sea, Battle of the Krakens: Yara and the Martell fleet are heading back to Dorne. Yara flirts with Ellaria and runs her hand up her thigh just as Euron attacks. / Theon and Yara look up at something. Euron's ship sails alongside Yara's as he boards along with his crew of tongueless sailors. He starts slaughtering people during the massive explosion. Nymeria and Obara try to attack him, but he stabs Obara in the stomach with her spear and then strangles Nymeria with her whip. Yara jumps and attacks one of Euron's men. Euron's fleet destroys Yara's after he fires a bunch of fireballs burning her ships. / Theon stands static witnessing the ships get ravaged by the fire. Euron then takes Yara prisoner as Theon panics and jumps overboard. Theon then looks at the fleet in the flames with tears in his eyes as Euron's ship sails away in the distance.

Davos and Jon remove their swords and the Dothraki take them away along with their boat. Tyrion escorts them to the castle. On the walls, Jon and Davos lie on the ground as they see a dragon flying above them. Tyrion looks up into the sky and helps Jon to his feet while the Targaryen loyalists remain calm. Tyrion and Jon also discuss Sansa.
Tyrion - "The bastard of Winterfell."
Jon - "The dwarf of Casterly Rock."
Tyrion - "I believe we last saw each other atop the wall."
Jon - "You were pissing off the edge, if I remember right."
Tyrion - "At some point, I want to hear how a Night’s Watch recruit became King in the North."
Jon - "As long as you tell me how a Lannister became Hand to Daenerys Targaryen."
Tyrion - "A long and bloody tale. To be honest, I was drunk for most of it."
Jon - "My bannermen think I’m a fool for coming here."
Tyrion - "Of course they do. If I was your hand, I would have advised against it. General rule of thumb, Stark men don’t fare well when they travel south."
Jon - "True. But I’m not a Stark."
*Mel and Varys watch as Jon and Davos walk up the stairs from one of the castle balconies. Mel reflects on the terrible things that she's done, but then says that she's fulfilled her task of bringing 'Ice and Fire' together when Dany and Jon meet. Mel suggests to Varys that she will leave Westeros for a while. Varys tells her that she might not be safe if she ever returns. Mel then exits right before Jon arrives.
*Jon, Davos, Tyrion, and Missandei arrive in Dany's Throne room. The Dothraki open the doors. At first site, Dany is surprised to see how young Jon is.
Missandei - "You stand in the presence of Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen. Rightful heir to the Iron Throne, rightful Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, the Breaker of Chains."
Davos - "This is Jon Snow. He's King in the North."
Dany - "Thank you for traveling so far, my lord. I hope the seas weren't too rough."
Jon - "The winds were kind, Your Grace."
Davos - "Apologies, I have a Flea Bottom accent, I know, but Jon Snow is King in the North, Your Grace. He's not a lord."
Dany - "So I assume, my lord, you're here to bend the knee."
Jon - "I am not."
Dany - "Well, that is unfortunate. You've traveled all this way to break faith with House Targaryen?"
Jon - "Break faith? Your father burned my grandfather alive. He burned my uncle alive. He would have burned the Seven Kingdoms--"
Dany - "My father was an evil man. On behalf of House Targaryen, I ask your forgiveness for the crimes he committed against your family. And I ask you not to judge a daughter for the sins of her father. (...) I am the last Targaryen, Jon Snow. Honor the pledge your ancestor made to mine. Bend the knee and I will name you Warden of the North."
Jon "You're right. You're not guilty of your father's crimes. And I'm not beholden to my ancestor's vows."
Dany - "I was born at Dragonstone. Not that I can remember it. We fled before Robert's assassins could find us. Robert was your father's best friend, no? I wonder if your father knew his best friend sent assassins to murder a baby girl in her crib. Not that it matters now, of course. I spent my life in foreign lands. So many men have tried to kill me, I don't remember all their names. I have been sold like a broodmare. I've been chained and betrayed, raped and defiled. Do you know what kept me standing, through all those years in exile? Faith. Not in any god, not in myths and legends. In myself. In Daenerys Targaryen. The world hadn't seen a dragon in centuries, until my children were born. The Dothraki hadn't crossed the sea, any sea. They did for me. I was born to rule the Seven Kingdoms, and I will."
--They have a bit of a crisis because she no more believes in White Walkers than the Lannisters do. Tyrion persuades her that Jon is not mental though.
Davos - "You don't believe him. I understand that, it sounds like nonsense. But if destiny has brought Daenerys Targaryen back to our shores, it has also made Jon Snow King in the North. You were the first to bring Dothraki to Westeros? He is the first to make allies of wildlings and Northmen. He was named Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, he was named King in the North. Not because of his birthright. He has no birthright, he's a damn bastard. All those hard sons of bitches chose him as their leader because they believe in him. All those things you don't believe in,he faced those things. He fought those things for the good of his people. He risked his life for his people. He took a knife in the heart for his people. He gave his own-- If we don't put aside our enmities and band together, we will die. And then it doesn't matter whose skeleton sits on the Iron Throne."
Ironborn: Some Ironborn rescue Theon from the water, but they've lost respect for her for abandoning Yara.

He eventually tells Sansa, "Don't fight in the North, or the South. Fight every battle, everywhere, always, in your mind. Everyone is your enemy. Everyone is your friend. Every possible series of events is happening all at once. Live that way and nothing will surprise you. Everything that happens will be something that you've seen before." Bran and Meera then arrive on a horsewagon. Sansa is crying a bit, but they're tears of joy.
*Sansa and Bran meet in the godswood. Bran tells her that he needs to see Jon. Bran tells her, "I'm sorry for all that's happened to you. I'm sorry it had to happen here, in our home. It was so beautiful that night. Snow falling, just like now. And you were so beautiful, in your white wedding dress." Sansa then walks away from Bran emotionally disturbed a bit.
Oldtown: Jorah is cured of greyscale. Ebrose is suspicious and asks Sam to see him that evening. Sam and Jorah talk about Jeor. Sam says that Jeor saved his life so it was the least he could do. / Ebrose and Sam speak about Sam's success.

Grey Worm nods to the Unsullied to enter the castle. An unsullied falls off the balcony and several of them lie dead in the grass as the fighting continues. The Unsullied eventually slay the garrison force inside the castle easily as a majority of the Lannister forces have gone to Highgarden. Grey Worm goes to the top and sees that Euron's fleet burned the ships that transported them.

Brienne confronts Littlefinger and questions his motives.
*Arya arrives back at her family home and looks at Winterfell with awe. She heads towards the gate and the guards see her. She calls for Maester Luwin or Ser Rodrick, but the guards are confused. Sansa joins her and they eventually embrace. Sansa shares that Bran is still alive.
*Sansa takes Arya to the godswood where she reunites with Bran. Arya learns about Bran's abilities and sees the blade Bran has. She says its Valyrian steel and asks him how he got it. Bran tells Sansa and Arya that Littlefinger gave it to him. Sansa doesn't like that Littlefinger is talking to Bran. Sansa and Arya become worried and Arya tries to give Bran back the dagger, but he refuses it. Bran tells Arya to keep it and asys that only the war to come matters now. Sansa and Arya wheel Bran back to the courtyard. Brienne and Pod both watch smiling, but Littlefinger appears dissatisfied.

*Overlooking the beach, Dany and Missandei discuss Grey Worm. Dany tells Missandei not to worry about him and that he will return to her. Dany asks what happened between them and Missandei answers "many things." Dany realizes that they had sex and asks "the pillar?" and Missandei answers, "yes." Dany and Missandei then arrive at the caves where they are mining dragonglass. Davos leads them into the cave to Jon. Jon shows Dany cave paintings on the walls that look like the spiral things we’ve seen beyond the wall. They are the work of the Children of the Forest. Dany says maybe they are from before there were even men, but Jon shows her a picture that has five small figures with three larger ones, the Children of the Forest and the First Men fighting a common enemy. Another painting with the White Walkers and the Night King. Jon says this showcases that despite the people of Westeros differences, there’s always been a need for them to band together against the enemy. They exit the caves and find Tyrion and Varys on the beach. Dany receives news that while the Unsullied have taken Casterly Rock, the fleet they had has been destroyed. Tell them the North remembers. Tell them winter came to House Frey.”

*Sam is feeding the sickly going cell by cell to fill their empty bowls. He eventually goes to take Jorah’s as his hand lashes out. His hand and arm are covered completely in greyscale.
