Also, I might be in the minority, but I don't want Arya and Gendry involved romantically. I don't want Arya involved with anyone in that way. I guess I know how all the people who hate D+J feel in that regard. I doubt Arya will get romantically involved with anyone, it's never really been her character. I also think she'll be dead by the end of the series anyway - if she lives then I doubt she'll get a happy ending Sadly, I agree with both.

I think that season 6 was their last main recruitment drive for the future stories. As long as they retain the great casting. Especially Lyanna Mormont and Randyll Tarly. They have expanded roles when they are blown away by the actors. To me that suggests Bella Ramsey is possibly in for the long haul.
If they can retain the northern lords that were cast for season 6 it will give continuity. I expect that the Tarly's will appear again. Web also now have Euron.
I think that Archmaester Marwyn (or an equivalent) will be cast. And I think that will be it. I wouldn't be surprised if he is played by a well known actor or personality. Comedians/comediennes seem to do well in Game of Thrones. In fact, I'd like Eddie Izzard to appear. He was amazing in Castles in the Sky and I think he has the right feel about him.
Other than Archmaester Marwyn there will be minor roles and then whatever flashbacks we get. The flashbacks proved popular so I don't think the show will hesitate to use them in season 7.
They are going to have to go a bit deeper with Lyanna and Rhaegar. Isaac and D & D have said that Bran doesn't understand what he is seeing. If that is true (I don't believe a word they say in the interviews) then they have backed themselves into a corner where there has to be some back story to Rhaegar and Lyanna. I never thought they would ever cast Rhaegar, I now don't think they can avoid it. I also think they are going to have to include the prophecy element a little heavier this season. There might be a flashback of the previous long night. That would require casting of the Prince that was Promised.

Which is why Dany'll do it instead. I was always skeptical about the folks that predicted/wanted a return to separate kingdoms again (it just feels like going backwards to me), but the Dany and Yara scene where Dany said they can ask has me wondering if that's where it's going. Also, I might be in the minority, but I don't want Arya and Gendry involved romantically. I don't want Arya involved with anyone in that way. I guess I know how all the people who hate D+J feel in that regard. In my mind, The Iron Islands can only now survive if they or someone find land west of Westeros. In real history England was a backward nation on the edge of Europe, poor compared to Spain, France, Italian States and the Holy Roman Empire. In 100 years of Europe re-finding the New World, England was a major power in Europe with a large navy, Scotland would have been too, but their gambles didnt pay off. This is the future I see for the Iron Islands, colonizers, explorers and traders.

We know from the books that not a generation went by that one kingdom wasn't at war with another. The losers often were sent to Wall (one reason their numbers started dwindling after the conquest). In one of the Davos chapters we learned that the North and the Vale fought over the Siters for a thousand years. The wars after a united Westeros were obviously larger (Blackfyre Rebellion, Dance of Dragons, etc), but they were far less frequent. To me, Aegon uniting the kingdoms was a good thing.

I wonder about Randyll Tarly's role. Obviously, they've spent enough time to set him up (both in person and Sam's stories) as a character that is powerful/menacing enough to be a viable opposing villain. He would line up very well as a Cersei lieutenant of the Crown in order to beef up her threat and forces. Obviously, the issue is that he's a Tyrell bannerman and they're opposing the Crown now. I know the show doesn't care too much about the house allegiances but that would be a hard corner to paint themselves out of.
Otherwise, he could come after Sam for taking Heartsbane but that doesn't seem like a great dramatic direction considering the shit Sam is going to be dealing with in short order. More of a diversion than a main plot point.
I think they'll still have to introduce something else into King's Landing because it's basically Cersei/Jaime with a couple of Cersei lackeys. There's no opposing viewpoints to bounce off of and Cersei/Jaime bickering would get old pretty quickly. I almost wonder if LF goes back to the capital to worm his way into the mix there. He could try to make his big powerplay at that point knowing that the North isn't going to be under his power for the time being. Maybe trying to convince Cersei that Jon needs to be removed is his next play.

I don't think Gendry is ever coming back... We won't know until next year, I guess. Though it might be good to bring him back because maybe he'll be the one to forge more Valyrian steel. In the past, we might at least have something to go on, one way or another, from an interview. But I guess Joseph Mawle and Richard Dormer prove we can't even rely on that avenue anymore. I hope Jaqen doesn't come back, but I'm sure if he did pop up in Oldtown he'd have the same face. Y'all know they brought Tom W. back as a familiar face for the audience, not as a familiar face for Arya. They're not going to dump the mancandy and have a FM dropped in a new setting with characters most of the audience doesn't really care about.

I really thought Quaithe would show up in season 6 but that didn't happen. So she has to be back for season 7. No way they can just drop her. I think Jorah will seek her out for a cure to his greyscale. Maybe that will lead to revealing her origin and true identity.

Qaithe is never coming back. Yeah I can't see her coming back now that Dany has left westeros. I think there's a chance Kinvara returns though.
