Yeah different people rate on a different scale tbf, nothing wrong with that. It tends to even out across the board.
Some will rate in comparison to all TV on the same scale and the same standard; others will vote only in comparison to other episodes of GoT; or others might just have an idea of what each numerical rating means to them, that's applicable to anything in any medium that can be rated. That's kind of what i do and it makes sense to me, but it doesn't have to make sense to anyone else. It's an objective rating to a subjective thing.

If anything, shows like Game of Thrones ruin it for other shows I rate (like The Walking Dead) because I know what good looks like and when I don't get it, I'm brutal.

Looking at some of the really low ratings. If I was watching a show and I thought more than half of one of its episodes was bad I'd stop watching it there and then. I wouldn't waste time waiting for it to get better, I'd just stop wasting my time on something I thought could ever be that bad. I just don't get rating an episode of this show like that given the production values and storytelling. I mean, I'm reluctant to even give my least favourite episode of GoT, 202, a six. That even feels too low for that episode, one that I have a million problems with. Anyhow. People will do as they will. I just don't get it.
Anyways, back to the rye. I agree. This show have never made an episode below a 6, IMHO.

Yeah, I don't consider "5", for instance, to be a bad rating. If I really hated something I would give it a 2 or a 3.
"5" for me means the episode didn't work overall, but it still had something good about it. Usually it happens once a season.

The only episodes I would call straight up 10's 1) Winter is Coming 2) Baelor 3) Fire and Blood 4) Blackwater 5) And Now His Watch Has Ended 6) Kissed by Fire 7) The Rains of Castamere 8) The Lion and the Rose 9) The Watchers on the Wall 10) The Door 11) Battle of the Bastards 12) The Winds of Winter.
I've lost count of how many 9's and 8's I've given out but those ones for sure are my 10's.

I've given exactly 10 10s, I think The Kingsroad Fire and Blood Blackwater Kissed by Fire The Rains of Castamere High Sparrow Kill the Boy The Door The Winds of Winter The Queen's Justice Apparently I'm a sucker for talky mid-season episodes

I think the episode was way too packed in general, it's almost like an 8th episode was needed. I'm glad the two after this will at least allow storylines to breathe with their run times and that the fact that there are fewer storylines to balance.

Even on episodes that I complained about a lot, like No One. I have zero objectivity when it comes to ratings. Olly dying and Gendry returning get 10s despite some otherwise forgetful stuff in those episodes, while I give lower ratings to the episodes where Blackfish and Barristan die.

He's like Jon in season 2. Aching for a chance to prove himself even when it's dangerous. It's Robert and Ned together again and I love it. I really love the idea of them developing a Robert/Ned friendship and hopefully we'll see it develop in the next few episodes. I just hope they pace it a little better than the last episode, though I did like the short joke with Jon, it really reminded me of the first scene with Ned and Robert. "You've got fat" or "You're a lot shorter" both have that same awkward silence after. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but it was probably one of the most fitting moments in the episode.

Yeah, an 8th episode was sorely needed, I think. But at least now we only have 2 or 3 storylines going forward. The flow will certainly improve.

Also I think the return of Gendry, despite what you guys thought of the episode, brought back some hope for @fatherofdragons, Diablotion, stannisforking299al, day dreamer because I think House Baratheon (assuming Gendry would be legitimized) coming back into the story brings the series full circle a bit since they were one of the great houses we started with. Also, why else keep the stag in the title sequence.
