Well it was obviously great. The last WF scene felt a little out of place, maybe that should have been earlier in the episode or something. But I didn't mind it otherwise.. I see where they're both coming from, Arya fell for LF's trap and they really don't have much reason to trust each other at this point.
Sansa mentioned that Jon hadn't been heard of for weeks so there's that for all those who complain about jetpacking. And I loved the bit we got about the wights falling when the WW who created them is killed, I've been waiting for this.

It's going to take a couple of viewings and a good night's sleep to process everything about this episode. From the first step beyond the wall to the unfurling of the sails, this is one for the ages.
I enjoyed how once again Mance's refusal to kneel was thrown up to Jon, this time by Tormund. I adore Tormund and the Hound and want them to go on tour. All the conversation between the men was great.
I do hope they give Longclaw to Kit when the show is over. He deserves it

Really good stuff. Thought Arya was way out of line in her scenes with Sansa. Littlefinger certainly seems to be spinning quite a web of lies in Winterfell, turning this newfound Stark Kingdom against itself. It's really good work on his part, and is certainly working. The stuff beyond the wall ranged from good to great. Thought the character interactions were on point in the Suicide Skwad. The wight polar bear was glorious. Jon and Jorah were perfect. Dany and Tyrion seemed to kind of have it out this week. I don't think anything that happened between them was a big deal to be honest. They're in a super tense situation, tempers are sure to flair when dragons, zombies, and mad queens are all colliding. Them talking about her inability to have children seems to be laying the groundwork for her to, well, have a child. Dany's big rescue was great, if not a little convenient. The CGI was AMAZING. The fighting was incredible, music was great. Viserion Dany's reaction was perfect, shock and just a hint of terror. I thought Benjen swooping in was also a little too convenient. I also don't get why they couldn't both just ride away, but whatever. That's drama for you. The boat convo was great. Lots of feelings all kind of coming out at once. I liked it a lot. ICE DRAGON FUCKING CONFIRMED.

Why do I have a feeling Viserion is going to be the one to take down Rhaegal Speaking of Rhaegal, he was the one flying around the wall in the last scene, right? That makes it even sadder.

But oh, so sad, about Viserion! And I didn't expect Jon to bend the knee. I realize Dany had to see his scars, as she kept asking if he really took a knife in the heart for his people, but God I wish somebody had let him have a blanket at some point.
Arya (my very favorite in the whole series) just seems weird, creepy, though I understand she's having fun scaring Sansa.

I've had some time to ponder on the Arya/Sansa interaction and while I was not crazy about it at first, now I understand it better. These girls are sister but they are also strangers to one another. And especially in Arya's case she's learned to trust no one.

I see where they're both coming from, Arya fell for LF's trap and they really don't have much reason to trust each other at this point. This is how I felt about it as well once I came to terms with what was going on in the scene and felt like I understood it a little better. My biggest complaint now is the placing. In re-watching, it still feels wrongly placed. I get it why they wanted to break up the Wight Hunt into segments but that very last break didn't sit well because Dany's staring at Jon's wounds and you know she's lost in love now for this man so having it cut back to Arya/Sansa was difficult to transition for me. They wanted to drag that emotional bit with Daenerys waiting at Jon's bedside out as long as possible ... but man it was hard to focus on Winterfell drama!

I felt like they made Viserion's death all about Dany's feelings for Jon. It's like she didn't get to mourn him.

I was expecting a lot worse from Winterfell after seeing people's reactions, specifically Arya's behavior. After seeing the episode, I have to say that it didn't bother me. I actually see both sides of their arguments. The last time they saw each other, Arya and Sansa were fighting. They were still at odds because of what happened to Lady and the Butcher's Boy. In Arya's eyes, Sansa is still the same liar that didn't stick up for her family. In Sansa's, Arya is the same person that was wild and tended to spoil things. Neither of them trusted each other to begin with, but LF is making it worse. For all of her training, LF is a master manipulator. Arya deals with people head on, not scheming or the Game of Thrones. It is understandable why she falls for things. It only escalates when LF fans the flames, prompting Sansa to search Arya's rooms. While Arya screws with Sansa, she does nothing and gives Sansa the weapon.
It was all actually anti climatic. Given what they both suffered, I don't blame them about being paranoid around each other. They have reasons to be paranoid.
The battles was amazing. I love the constant sense of dread and the knowledge how high the stakes were. I knew that most would live from the leaks, but I was still screaming when Tormund went down. I genuinely thought he would die. Viserion's death brought tears to my eyes, so did Benjen's.
People are losing their shit that Jon bent the knee, but honestly, this was so in character for Jon. Now that shit got real and he saw what damage the dragons could do, why wouldn't he hand her the crown? He's showing he trusts her in that moment and concedes that she is worthy of the throne. It was beautiful and Jon has always been handing power away. He walked away from being Lord Commander. It doesn't shock me he walks away now.
I love Jorah's silent approval of Jon and how he watches out for him.
Do I need to go into detail why Jon and Dany were perfection with each other? I love them together so much.

I felt like they made Viserion's death all about Dany's feelings for Jon. It's like she didn't get to mourn him. They did. But think of it from this angle ... Daenerys is always acting so righteous and Queenly, like she has to internalize all her emotions and soldier on to save her people. With Jon there, surviving and waking to see her by his side, she's finally able to let down her guard and be vulnerable. She shows her emotion there, to him. She won't show it to anyone else. She mourned for Viserion and was confused by the outpouring of love from Jon who held her hand firm and didn't let her go. She has never had someone be that open and giving before. Jon was letting her mourn but showing her he had fallen in love with her. That's a lot to take in - that's why she got flustered and left at the end. I know you're not a Jonerys shipper, but Daenerys did mourn Viserion there. She told Jon she can't have any children and they were her children. She's asking Jon, indirectly there, if he's willing to get involved with her knowing that. And he is. Just wallow in the love-story. Just give in. Oh and a peeve I had from BotB is that Jon and Sansa showed little emotion for Rickon's death too so I think we're even there. At least we saw Daenerys cry!

I don't want rain on people's parades around here, but I just hate the whole Winterfell arc. I mean "all of it", especially after Jon left.
Somewhere in those crypts, Ned is crying. Somebody get Ghost to get their asses in gear. Oh wait, he's been missing for 14 episodes.
The rest of the episode was absolutely fantastic.

I can always count on you for a different angle. I just didn't get anything for Viserion there. Even after she mentions him, "the only children I'll ever have." - Foreshadowing hammer for Jonerys baby. I take back what I initially said about not liking her reaction during her death. Now that I saw she had actual tears in her eyes, it did look better. I still wished for a bit more, same with Rickon's death reactions. Those, especially Sansa's were weak. I guess everyone can't be Cat.
