Moving this over
TheWhiteDevil-"I'm starting to think that keeping Cersei in a position of power really damaged the season, it created a lot of contrivances, like Daenerys not taking the Red Keep and just the Red Keep with her Dragons... I get the necessity to have Westeros accept her but how have they been accomplishing that actually?
I fail to grasp Tyrion's plans. It feels like there is no plan.
I'm saying that because I truly did not like the Wight Hunt idea and execution and the call for it arise out of the need to convince Cersei. Hence IMO Cersei being on the Throne really messes things up. And the Westerosi backing her up, supposedly, after the Sept Incident seem rather flimsy. Considering how she obtained her power...I don't know.
Problem is, I have no idea where else she could have been... and I'm loving the season a great deal.
It just feels weird in some spots
I will think about this some more. Not really sure I managed to explain myself properly or at all."
Nikma -"You can like it or not, but keeping Cersei in power will make S8 the best season yet. Without her, Jaime, Gregor and Euron, S8 would be just humans vs monsters. There are hidden tunnels in KL, Cersei wouldn't just wait for her in the Red Keep."
It's not a matter of liking it or not liking it. It's just a matter of logic, The are holes in it, imo.
Beside loosing KL would not translate as Cersei being out of the game. Quite the opposite.

Martin set this as Daenerys cannot take the throne yet... or ever*. So they need to restrain her from easy victory. I like how Cersei is competent, she learned from the best. I don't like how incompetent Tyrion is, it's a shame, he's plans are logical and good in long shot, totally disaster in short. Poor guy *foreshadowings, irony etc. story is not finished yet, so there's still hope for her victory

I see no issue with Cersei remaining in power. I like her scenes (without Jaime) and I like that she actually got to pull one over on Dany because she was stacked battle wise. It also doesn't surprise me that people still back her after the Sept. That's the perfect time for smaller houses like the Tarlys to rise in power and be on par with other families like the Tyrells.

I just wish Daenerys not taking the Throne had been given a stronger plot. Strongest reasons. I realize how difficult doing that would have been. So I'm not really complaining, I'm just scratching an itch.

Arya Assasinates the Night King? Thought about this before With Mel returning, she could use the Ruby to possibly get close enough to use the dagger. But from a thematic sense it has not been a big part of her story.
I also wonder what Mel is doing in Essos, she is going there for a reason. I assume to rally the red priests. She could make an ally of Darrio, and take the Gold Company off the table. There are Millions of freed slaves there. Dany may have the Dothraki, and the Unsullied but her actions in freeing the slaves may pay a dividend. They're not going to like anyone taking a shot at her. Cersei may be on her home turf, but Essos belongs to Dany. Don't go playing in her back yard and not expect blow back. It would also contrast Cersei and Westeros as she loses power, you see Dany's... Sorry Daenerys actual strength among her people.
But who knows.

I see your point. And I enjoyed Cersei "defeating" the Tyrells and Dorne. However, I still feel like Cersei's reign should be way more unstable. Lesser families wishing to rise up on the scale is a strong reason to support the current Queen but where are the others? Apart from the Tyrells and Dorne everybody is okay with Cersei being a Queen, there is also a spectacular lack of backlash from the religious people. I doubt all of them were in the Sept or in the capital. The North is going crazy over Jon leaving for a diplomatic missions. Small things. Just nitpicking.

Yeah Tyrion has been getting kicked in the nuts all season. When you make Victerion/Euron look smart something is wrong. Then again Euron has cruise Missles and always knows where to be at the exact right time, except when Jon or Dany or both are on a ship. He also built 1000 ships in like 6 months so what the hell do I know? Guy apperantly developed industrial manufacturing.

I do feel sometimes like Daenerys belongs to Essos more than anywhere else, her fight against slavery is what truly started her legend to me and elevated her among other rulers. However I think what she really needs is to find a home within a family, a kindred spirit...a King in the North most likely.

freypies The fall is a good idea. As you say a nice paralell to the Climb and it would refer to both the fall of the wall and the fall of LF.

I like "The Fall", but isn't it a bit to spoilery? Lots of people already believe the Wall is going to fall in the finale, this would only make them certain.
