This is pretty much my ideal opening scene for Jon/Daenerys next season . I really want immediate proof that boatsex is not a one off thing! And they can talk about Dany meeting the Starks and Ghost. In my head canon it takes place in a tent the morning before they arrive at Winterfell.

In my head canon it takes place in a tent the morning before they arrive at Winterfell. I sincerely hope that in the first episode of Season 8, there will either be a post-coital scene, a second sex scene, or at the very least a scene of Jon and Dany being sweet and romantic with one another before they arrive at Winterfell. Once Bran and Sam tell Jon about his true parentage and the information is relayed to Dany, things will inevitably become more complicated and angsty for an episode or two before the two start to come back together, possibly prompted by confirmation of Dany's inevitable pregnancy. And of course, if the Night King and his army hit Winterfell, any romance will need to take backseat to the necessity of fighting in the Great War (a close brush with death for either Jon or Dany could be another thing that prompts them to realize that their feelings for one another haven't changed). Let Jon, Dany, and all of us watching have at least one more scene to bask in their uncomplicated love for one another before conflict materializes, whatever form it takes. The road from White Harbor to Winterfell is a long one. They can spare a few minutes to enjoy the journey.

They Started Apart But They Ended TogetherI wanted to make another observation about Jon and Dany in season 7 but this observation is focused on the visuals we saw during the Dragonpit scene. As we all remember Jon and Dany arrived at the Dragonpit separately. Jon arrived first with his and Dany’s followers. After Cersei arrived with her own followers Dany came flying atop Drogon and arrived last. The way the Dragonpit was setup, Jon sat in his own section across from Dany and Cersei sat in the middle section, her own section was elevated so she could look down at both Jon and Dany. Because of the setup, throughout the first part of the scene, Jon and Dany were apart from one another. After Cersei walked away, Jon and Dany came together to discuss what had gone wrong. When Cersei returns the dynamics of the Dranpit scene have changed. Cersei, who is coming in from the outside, is now facing a united front and is at a disadvantage as most everyone is now behind Jon and Dany. Jon and Dany are now firmly together, standing atop the platform next to one another. Whatever advantage Cercei had had at the beginning of the meeting she’s now lost.

It's amazing to see the natural progression between these two. Remember how far apart they stood when they first met? Now they are shoulder to shoulder. There is no space left between them when they are just casually standing around.

It's amazing to see the natural progression between these two. Remember how far apart they stood when they first met? Now they are shoulder to shoulder. There is no space left between them when they are just casually standing around. I agree, this subtle 'together' thing was well done and full of symbolic irony at the Dragonpit scene. Well thought out summary there moiaf! It seems that when Jon put himself on the line (and ultimately fucked up with Cersei) by publicly declaring himself allied with Daenerys, the entire mood and theme shifted at the scene. While outwardly we're supposed to be agreeing with Tyrion and everyone else that Jon should have lied to Cersei, there's a much more intimate moment there too where Daenerys realizes this man is actually for real and has fallen in love with her and not just the "military alliance" Tyrion teased her about in private when telling her Jon was in love with her. Now she KNOWS it. She knew it in the ship scene when he held her hand tightly and stared at her, but she was flustered and still in shock from all that had just happened including losing Viserion. But there, in the Dragonpit, we saw immediately the realization on Daenerys' face when Jon says he's already pledged himself to her. A brief moment of shock quickly replaced by the realization that he is most definitely in love with her and she sees his devotion there in front of everyone. Yeah, his decision to announce that wasn't the best political move but privately, to Daenerys, that was everything. And aren't they beautiful together?

Yeah, his decision to announce that wasn't the best political move but privately, to Daenerys, that was everything. And aren't they beautiful together? All he would have to do is reach out and he could wrap an arm around her protectively. That's kind of the sense I got from this image. I agree about Dany realizing he loved her on the boat after the Wight Hunt. But I think the Dragonpit was the moment that she realized Jon was not like anyone else she met before. He could have lied (and in some opinions, should have lied) and forged the alliance with Cersei. It would be easy to turn against her once the war for the dawn was over. Dany didn't even make his pledge to her public. No one knew save for her, but Jon stayed true to his word and to her. It clearly indicates that above all else, he puts her before anything else. Which we know is not the best idea given what they are facing, but for their love story, it's amazing. Has she ever had someone who openly remained true to her like this? Her personally, not as a queen? Daario seemed only interested in her role as the Dragon Queen. Drogo, I think he loved her but never enough to put her before everything else. Jon is probably the first man to know all of her weaknesses, vulnerabilities and inability to sire children and still say that he wants her. It's such a whole and complete love. I honestly don't see that moment as "I've pledged my military forces to Daenerys." What I got from that moment (and it might be because of my shipping goggles) is him openly stating, "I love Daenerys." Him calling her his queen and declaring he can't serve two queens is more about his personal feelings for Daenerys and falling in love with her.

Drogo, I think he loved her but never enough to put her before everything else. Not that I disagree with you overall, but I do think Drogo was ready to put Daenerys first over everything else, that's why he pledged his entire Khalasar to her and was willing to cross the sea to "destroy them in their stone houses" because Daenerys had been threatened by assassins from Westeros. Unfortunately, Drogo died before his plan could even begin. Secondarily, I think Jorah has truly and honestly loved Daenerys as wholeheartedly as anyone possibly can, and not as a man who serves a queen but as a man who loves her as a woman, even though he watched her grow up and she has always seen him as more of a Father figure. Jorah most definitely wants romantic love.

I do think though that Jon is different in just in how he prioritizes Dany, which seems different in a lot of ways.

I did think about Drogo's love for her and I think you're right. I do think though that Jon is different in just in how he prioritizes Dany, which seems different in a lot of ways. Jon is overall a better match for Daenerys because his ideals are the same as hers is what I have come to believe makes them so attracted to one another. Everyone else has always put labels on them and expectations as leaders above reproach and when you're up on a pedestal like that (similar to being a famous actor) it gets difficult to know if someone loves you for you or because of your name and power/fame. Daario was definitely in love with Daenerys because of her power and fame, not because he loved her truly for her inner feelings and motivations. With Jorah, I think it's the fact he's been so devoted to her 'cause' that Daenerys was never able to see him as more than a devoted follower. Danerys was not expecting to meet her equal in Jon Snow. She expected to use the same "bend the knee" tactics she was forced to use in Essos with the leaders and slavers there. Over and over she had to play a part and be a ruthless ruler (which she privately hated in the books). Then she meets Jon Snow and he's nothing at all like other men or rulers she's ever met. He doesn't demand anything from her and he doesn't even get an attitude with her when she tries to force submission on him. He just quietly goes on being the stubborn rock he's always been. A man who is not afraid of her, or jealous of her, or out to destroy her is definitely something entirely new. I think Jon's simple honesty and obvious integrity is what won her over.
