I just hope it's better that the second season, I just couldn't get into season 2, season 1 was such a hard follow. I already prefer this cast to season 2.

Early reviews for True Detective sound positive...

No True detectives thread? Really? I already solved it.
I remember when Steve McQueen died, I remember that day well, and there was no moon. It was a new moon which means you cant see it.
I gotta watch it again, but those are your first clues.
How do they not know what a Nataive American Corn husk doll is? Not much mythology with them, just the three sisters, and they have no face because of vanity. The great spirit took her face from her, they are also associated with children. These two looked to be fashioned like brides.
The uncle should be a primary suspect.

3xo5 was the best episode of the season so far for me. The scene at the end with old West and Hays was so good. I think Dorf is stealing the show tbh.

The ending of 3x06... :o
These cliffhangers are killing me this season!

Overall the season was a success for me, as I actually looked forward to watching every week. The case itself wasn’t particularly strong, but the Hays/West relationship was good. It’s not on par with S1, but miles better than S2.
Too bad Michael Rooker didn’t have a bigger role.

I have mixed feelings on it, I thought it started out strong, the acting is top notch, Hays and West are good together but really only have a few moments where the chemistry really clicks. I thought the writing was really sloppy and they totally missed the landing, and neither of them get closure. The lead characters surprisingly were not flushed out. But what really bugged me is the illness, they used it as a plot device to tell the story. We find out why Wayne was at a desk, how exciting. It's not even a medical condition he broke because he fell in love? I mean the fucking producer literally tells you this? What the Fuck? Why doesn't he remember anything? Because he was in a relationship. When he gets stressed now he forgets. I am sorry but fuck that bullshit. I liked the characters, but the story is crap, the mystery is even a bigger pile of crap, and the ending was a lame info dump with no climax. Better that season 2? Yes but the story may actually be worse while the characters are more likable. Seaon one gave you an incredible climax and the most perfect full circle ending.

I didn’t have much of a problem with Hays’ illness, but the stuff with his wife was grating after a while. Like I said, I enjoyed it way more than S2, which was hard to take seriously at times. This season was sloppy, but it wasn’t on that level. In any case, it looks like Pizzolotto will probably never match the quality of S1. And Cary Fukunaga was integral. I would still watch another season.

I would still watch another season. Yeah the wife stuff was weird, like Hays reacted to her in some very strange ways. Dorff was great, the star of the season 3 by far. I think it pisses me off more than season 2 because it had so much potential. But the ending just got weird, unsolved, unresolved, you can't trust any of the past as everything is viewed through Hays and we know his memory is totally fucked. I think like season 1 there should of been multiple perspectives on the past. I mean they tossed in this quick sort of idealistic romantic ending, that was beyond random. And Rooker what the hell happened to him, he showed up and I was like alright nice choice. And then gone, never to be scene from or heard from again.
