And honestly, Arya killing the NK makes so much sense. That's the sort of poetry of Tolkien. Besides Jon would have been too obvious and boring. This. At first I was like "really?" Then yeah, her entire story has been about death and her FM training had to pay off. Here it is. Same! I just didn't think they'd go for having her do it. There were many times I thought "That Valyrian steel dagger has to be important - Bran HAS to know why he's giving it to Arya" but then I'd second guess myself and overthink it (The dagger must be ceremonial thus must be used at some sort of mysterious magical moment) ... but NOPE... just Arya leaping out of the shadows like a little badass to totally fake him out. I hope people caught that btw, how she used the same fake out move she did when she sparred with Brienne. OMG. I was jumping up and down on my bed like a fool watching that.

Ghost is Alive! Big boy is okay!!!! So you're telling we might see Jon and Ghost fighting together after all? Then wonder what Ghost purpose really is but really want to see more of him and Jon. Maybe Jon will ditch a dragon for a direwolf.

Cinematically - My honest take is there was so much going on, it was hard to make out the action sequences. I blame the HD stream, this thing needs to be viewed in full 4K HDR glory, especially since it's so dark.
My heart is full that main heroes made it. Mel's arc completed Beric and the Hound's purpose to save Arya. It was all about keeping Arya safe. Glad Gendry, Jaime survived, all characters that were rumored to die.

Ghost will have a bigger role? From 2 seconds to 10 seconds. Unless he survived because I haven't seen him turn, he just vanished. He's alive. You know it to be true... So let it be written. So let it be done.

It was a lot to process. Hardly any dialogue, lots of action but my biggest issue was that it was very dark. I'll re-watch it tomorrow night on 4k. Clearly HD isn't sufficient.
Theon's death hit me the hardest, even though I was prepared for it.
Shocked to discover Pod still alive. In fact I'm shocked to find out so many survived.
Not surprised about those really, really safe crypts. But then again I don't think anyone is. It has been a running joke.

Also there was what, like 10 lines of dialogue total in this episode? Sapochnik deserves all the awards for bringing this script to life with barely any words. This was definitely the most visually stunning cinematic episode of the entire series. Props to the SFX people, too. Those aerial dragon scenes above the clouds were gorgeous.

I did love seeing Dany fight for her life. Good girl! I'm glad they gave her a sword and let her get a few kills on her own without dragon fire.

I've just remembered, but that dagger was in Sam's book in S7. It was staring us in the face all of the time.

let me try to calm down and write all my thoughts down. ok. ok it was quite literally raining zombies at one point. so clever and dark and just amazing. i absolutely loved how they managed to combine full on mayhem with moments of stealth. arya's scene in the library sneaking around was brilliant. i loved the touch of her drops of blood alerting the wights of her location. just amazing. the hound's panic attack was all too real. the mist. i thought it was a clever way to basically sideline jon and daenerys, at least at the beginning. did i see my girl daenerys swinging a sword there towards the end? they might make a warrior woman of her, yet. bran's last words to theon "you're a good man". so simple, but that's honestly the only thing theon has probably ever wanted to hear. jorah's death was so sad. that was probably the most emotional we've ever seen dany. emilia killed it the way she was just sobbing and begging him not to go. and the dragon coming in behind her i love how, in the end, jon and dany were basically useless. talk about a red herring. MELISANDRE. i'm biased cause i loved her to start with, but she kind of stole the show. from granting the dothraki flaming swords to lighting the trench...when she told arya "what do we say to the god of death?" i think i screamed a little. her end was sad but triumphant. god i just loved it. and lastly, arya is officially the GOAT of this series. nothing left to say, like, period. she shut those blue eyes alright, the night king's. her whole storyline has been about death, so it makes sense she's the one to look it in the face and stab it in the gut. wowwwwww wowww wowwwww

Shocked to discover Pod still alive. In fact I'm shocked to find out so many survived. Same here, we expected a LOT more character deaths. But, in the inside-the-episode right afterwards, I think it was Weiss who said they didn't want to do heroic deaths for too many characters as it would cheapen their moments, and I think I have to agree. After awhile you get desensitized and don't feel as much as you should about the death. I'm sort of glad they did a gratuitous superhero death for Lyanna Mormont instead of one of our beloved heroes which might have felt cheesy for them.
