I agree in her heart she is a Stark, however, as a result of her actions her direwolf was killed and Ned died too because of her betrayal. The old gods would see that as a betrayal to her Stark heritage and that rules her out of actually being classed as a Stark. Her name is symbolic of that. It is pretty relevant to the show, though. Sansa, still thinking of Cersei and Joffrey as good people, told them of Ned's plans. Which is part of the reason everything went to hell. Her betrayal is not the direct reason Ned lost, but part of it anyway. Sansa never betrayed her father on the show. She heard of the accusations against her father for the first time in this scene . Cersei, Littlefinger, Pycelle and Varys all knew about Ned's plans before Sansa did. I've seen Season 1 dozen times, and still somehow thought it was included. I guess they removed it so audience wouldn't hate Sansa for it. Lot of people disliked Sansa in the first season because of her crush in Joffrey and admiration of Cersei.

Sansa had young girl passions (being a princess/queen/crushed on Knights) but you can see her arc - she's really matured in both the books and the show. She's hardened from her tough life and has regrets.
I just don't want her arc going into the Jon vs Sansa direction - it would be a travesty to make Sansa the enemy and that's a real possibility if she starts betraying her kin.

That was cut. ding ding ding! sorry for coming off too strong here, but some of us are here to get away from circular discussions about sansa betraying her family. i'm sure the other board would love to know of these theories tho.

I'm pretty certain that Oldtown will be added to the title sequence next season. Also possibly a return of Dragonstone depending if Dany lands there or not.

I hope they retcon it into some massive imposing dragon-spire thing like GRRM described it and the art from the picture book depicts it! Now that we know for certain the Martells oops! Ellarias are allying with Daenerys, I imagine they'll land in Dorne as originally speculated though I imagine Dany will want to retake her family's home castle at some point. I'd love to see Dragonstone on the opening sequence map!

Since MeliJondre and MeliSansa didn't pan out in s6, it's back to the drawing board for me. For now I'm gonna bet on this ship.

But with Davos and Jon letting me down like they did with their unappreciative, silly, caring-about-Shireen attitudes...the show better give me this at least ffs.

At the moment YarDan is far more likely than DanSa. Re-watched 6x09 last night (and the finale too) and had forgotten how much serious flirtation and innuendo went on between Dany and Yara. I'd ship them hardcore because that's hot but I think D&D were just toying with the audience with that because we know Dany has her mind (if not heart) set on marrying a 'king' for alliance reasons. I'd still love to see them get drunk and mess around though.

Not sure if this has been speculated on before but I anticipate that Euron will meet Dany prior to her arrival in Westeros (or maybe shortly thereafter) and we'll get him revealing Dragonbinder whereby he gets control of her dragons. It's really the only way he can mount any kind of opposition to her and pretty much the only reason he can be presented as a viable villain.
I really don't believe they're just going to let Dany steamroll into KL with all of her forces intact, there's no drama in that, she's just too powerful at this point. I don't think George or D&D want to set up such an easy victory for her. Taking away her dragons is a significant storyline and gives her journey some stakes without such a measure of inevitability.
It also doesn't seem worthwhile for the show to plant Yara and Theon firmly with Dany unless they were needed to oppose Euron in this capacity.
Whether this means Euron goes to Oldtown or not (maybe that's where Dragonbinder is held which is the reason for his raid) I'm not sure but the show could easily skip that as well.
In any case, knowing how this story operates, I don't think Dany is going to get the smooth walk to the Iron Throne that they were setting up in the finale.

So, we're assuming the 16yo Northern girl or whatever it said is Alys Karstark, yes? Do we think she'll be marrying Tormund or that a younger wildling guy will be introduced? Or will she be used completely differently than in the books, as is the case for most of the other Northern nobles?

THis is pretty close to how I see it, although, I don't think he'll get control of Drogon just the other two. Dany will then have to use Drogon to chase him down and a lot of shit will go array. I don't expect this to be pretty and it will give Dany both a setback and something to fight for. Like I can see her trying to stop him from riding and destroying and and filling impotent about not being able to, giving her determination to get him. She'll kill him of course but it'll be well earned, I hope. I also want to see a dragon battle between the two a la Daemon and Aemond. Fuck, that would be awesome.
