It's probably been mentioned before, but has anyone played Crusader Kings 2: Game of Thrones mod? I've recently started playing it and I'm losing hours to it. I've already gotten Dany the Iron Throne, married Jon to her and betrothed all of my children to the major houses in Westeros. www.crusaderkings.com/www.moddb.com/mods/crusader-kings-2-a-game-of-thrones-ck2agotYou can play a number of different scenarios and have a sort "what if" situation. I'm playing the Greyjoy rebellion and had all this fallout for Ned saving Dany and bringing her to court. It's really amazing.

I've played it and while it is a brilliant mod, I found myself getting really bored with it once I got to a generation of unknown characters.

At least there are a lot of different timelines to choose.

I've been obsessively playing Metroid: Samus Returns during the last couple of days. Finally a new Metroid. And it's GOOD.

I beat Metroid: Samus Returns (fantastic game!) and I'm pretty motivated to continue beating my 3DS backlog. Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Ocarina of Time 3D are next. Zelda. <3

So, I just finished the main quest line in Assassin's Creed Origins, and it's actually really fucking good, guys. In the end, there were only a few (more or less) minor issues I had with the game, the leveling system in particular I did not like at all. The combat difficulty depended entirely on artificial numbers and stats. No matter how good you are at the game, it's still near impossible to kill an enemy if you are slightly underleveled ... which is a really puzzling design choice for such an action-heavy non RPG like this. The combat was not very deep, but I still liked it a lot. It took me many hours to get a full grasp of it though, mainly because it looks so much like Dark Souls, that I initially tried to approach it like I would a Dark Souls. That was a mistake though, in reality, it plays nothing like Dark Souls. I mean, the fact that there is no stamina bar, which means that theoretically you could combo endlessly, is a huge difference by itself. But it is also much faster. more fluid and less punishing than Dark Souls. I wasn't sure if I liked it at first, but I actually grew fond of it as the game went on. Now I think it's perhaps the best combat system of any Assassin's Creed. In terms of graphics, this is probably the most beautiful game I have ever played. It's gorgeous. And it's not just the graphics, it's the atmosphere too. Some of the best moments I had with the game had nothing to do with the story. When I climbed to the top of the pyramids, or when I was attacked by a crocodile for the first time, that made my heart jump. Or when I went into an ancient tomb and found myself in a pitch black room filled with cobras, which literally made me scream. The story was ... pretty good. It wasn't incredible, but Bayek and Aya were definitely some of the most compelling characters in the entire series. And even though the overarching narrative was not very strong, the little side stories of all the individual assassination targets were often very cool. Also, there was this one scene towards the end that I thought was really powerful. Without spoiling anything, that moment basically marked the beginning of the Assassin's order as we know it, and they made the brilliant choice to accompany it with Ezio's Family Theme from Assassin's Creed 2, which is still the best piece of music to come out of these games imo. And it actually got me a little bit, it was surprisingly moving. The modern times storyline did nothing for me though, it felt super tagged on and unnecessary. Didn't care for it at all. Really loved the little twist at the end that Aya is actually Amunet, whose statue we saw in Assassin's Creed 2 in Monteriggioni. Even though they didn't show it, it's kind of cool to think that she actually did go back to Alexandria a few years later to kill Cleopatra. In terms of acting, the German dubbing was hit-or-miss throughout. Bayek and Aya were voiced perfectly, but a lot of the side characters were not. Especially the kids voices were fucking terrible. I probably should have switched back to the English voices, but after watching Daniel play it for a few hours, I got really used to Bayek's German voice. I think Assassin's Creed 2 is still closer to my heart than Origins, but objectively speaking, this is probably the best game in the series. It's pretty amazing. It's paradox how even though it is obvious how much thought, love and care went into every aspect of this game, at the end of the day, it still feels a little bit like a soulless product, because of all the bullshit microtransactions that Ubisoft feels the need to shove in your face at all times.

I'm so happy that Nintendo won Game of the Year. They had a remarkable year and Breath of the Wild is a masterpiece. So they really deserve it. They also announced Bayonetta 3 exclusively for Switch.
