I'm so glad we're doing this re-watch because brilliant episodes like this one often get forgotten in the long list of other brilliant ones to come over the years. I had honestly forgotten how amazing that scene was with Tyrion putting Pycelle, Varys and Littlefinger to the test to see which is working for Cersei. It was so wonderful and brings back great memories from the book how well Tyrion did as Hand. One thing that surprised me in that scene where Bronn busts in and takes Pycelle away to the dungeon ... I never remembered there being a hill tribesman with Bronn - did you? I guess I always assumed Tyrion left them behind after the battle but apparently he brought some with him to King's Landing. How odd to think of those barbaric men in the Red Keep and no one had anything to say about that? haha. Also of special note from my many notes on this one, did y'all see how amazing a fighter Gendry was there in that battle against the Lannister men after they killed Yoren? Dude swung a cudgel of some sort taking out two or three other men, he fought as well as his dear ol' Dad did with a hammer! Heartbreaking to watch Theon pen that letter to Robb and then burn it. He had one last chance to not go down the wrong path. Ah... hindsight I'm sure for him after so long ago. I did really appreciate him having the guts to call out his jerk of a Father for giving him away and bending the knee to the Starks after claiming they don't make peace haha. Nice job Theon. Worth noting here how cleverly the writers and directors chose to play the scenes out in this one. They sure recovered 180 degrees around from episode 2, and I'm so glad they did.

There's some great theories floating around out there that we may yet see the Hill Tribes of the Vale again and in a big way. Tyrion has yet to pay his debt to them remember. He promised them the Vale of Arryn.

A really nice recovery from last week's poop-fest. Agree with you Envie that the Tyrion scene with Pacelle, Varys and Littlefinger was great. It really shows how truly clever he is, and cunning as well. You can see why Varys likes him so much. The other scene with Varys was also great, "Power resides where men believe it resides. No more, no less" and " A small man can cast a large shadow", this one in particular can be applied to several other characters. Also, Littlefinger's accent literally changes from one conversation with Tyrion to the others. It's insane. Did not remember the hills tribesmen. I saw him and I was like, Hu? Where he come from? The scene with Cersei was great as well, those to play off each other so well. You can see why Tyrion became such a beloved character. Love the introduction of Brienne, I know some people don't like her but I've always liked her. My secret desire is that she joins Dany's crew and Dany will finally knight Brenne, making her Ser Brienne. Catelyn Stark, brining it. As usual. And Theon, oh Theon....you poor stupid boy. I really didn't like his character back then but now I can just pitty him. Even though he's about to do some pretty shitty things.

Yes, much better episode. My favorite scene was Tyrion testing the Small council as well. Also, I remember the hill tribes being there because they were in the book as well. Loved Theon telling off Balon. Also, loved Brienne, she is one of my favorite characters and if Jaime somehow survives, I hope they end up together.

"The dragons are gone. The giants are dead. And the Children of the Forest forgotten." For as wrong as Luwin was then, he's two-thirds right now.
