I forgot how good the Theon/Maester Luwin scene was. Theon's speech to his men was great too, and it's what I remembered more from the episode, but the scene preceding it was even better.

The Winterfell scenes, especially those with Maester Luwen in them were top notch and outshines almost everything else in the episode. Losing Maester Luwen that way and the boys crying just slays me every single time.

Ok Re-watcher crew, answer me these questions I had in re-watching the finale: 1. What do you think Melisandre showed Stannis in the flames to make him believe? Was it a parlor-trick or real? Interesting side-note: She tells him straight out in this scene (I'd forgotten) that he will betray his men, his family and everything he held dear to win but it would be worth it... WTF! I didn't realize until re-watch how bluntly obvious this statement is and why does Stannis actually DO all these things? The whole thing still makes very little sense to me for a man who was so uptight/sensible. One of the greatest mysteries of the story to me. 2. Why did Robb/Talisa marry with a Septon by the Seven Gods tradition? I'm thinking I panned over long discussions about this in the original watch threads. Robb's Gods are the Old Gods of the north and Talisa is from Volantis so I don't think the Seven would be her chosen religion would it? 3. This is the second time in re-watch I've caught the lines Jaqen uses to Arya in referring to the "Red God" as the God they give their sacrifices and kill names to ... is that right? I'm so confused about this re-watch because later in the series it's the God of Death (as it should be) for the House of Black and White ... right? Why does Jaqen say the Red God? One question that DID get answered for me from some past discussions and speculation about the future is the Hill Tribes of the Vale. I'd forgotten entirely that Tyrion asks about them in his recovery room and Varys informs him that they went back home and Tywin paid them "handsomely" so I guess the debt to them was paid even if Tyrion didn't give them what he promised (The Vale).

I think Melisandre showed him sitting on the IT, which, would of course been a parlor trick, unless it shoed Azor Ahai, then it was probably true since that isn't Stannis. I also wondered why Robb was married by the Seven, were NEd and Cat married by the Seven since the wedding was in River Run? Overall, I thought this was a good finale to an ok season. I love the House of the Undying scenes, and Jon's fight with Qhorin was cool, although I wish Ghost has been there like in the books. Looking forward to starting season 3, one of my favorite seasons.

Alright. I'm on it. The spamming commences. We open with Pycelle dropping his guise of being ancient and weak to taunt Tyrion. Then a horsey pooping. I like this episode.

Charles Dance has one line in the episode and he owns it hands-down nonetheless.

It's funny how both Jon and Brienne bother dignifying the sexual-tinged taunts of their respective captives-they're-walking-through-dangerous-territory-whilst-tied-to-ropes this season. You'd think if you actually wanted them to shut up you'd just ignore them. But these two take the bait every time. It's like Midnight Run if De Niro and Grodin ended up boning.

Ladies and gentleman, the jazz stylings of Ramsay Bolton. And Theon says, "Thank you" as "Hank you."

I think she showed Stannis winning a great victory in the North and he assumed that was the victory which would bind the Northerners to him. Obviously wrong. I think Robb and Talisa married in front of the 7 because of where they were at the time. No weirwood trees left in the Riverlands. I wondered about the Red God thing myself, wondering if they were two sides of the same religion. I think I'll do some research and see what we come up with.
