Here some great moments from the show. I love the music in this scene, seeing it live is really breathtaking. The moment the portraits come to life around 1:30. And this is the best scene in the show, no contest. The song is great, the lyrics are brilliant, and it's legit creepy as hell. And I fucking love the costumes!

I'm obsessed with the Hamilton soundtrack. If only I had the funds to go and see it but I think I'll have to wait for when it makes its way to Boston. It's really hard to get tickets for Hamilton on Broadway anyway, it's sold out pretty much for forever. Some people are selling their tickets for like ten, twenty times the price they originally paid for them (we're talking like thousands of dollars for one ticket that has the face value of maybe 300 at the most). It's kind of ridiculous. It's going on US tour soon, hope you get the chance to see it! (not sure if you can already pre-order tickets, though) I really want to see it too, and I hope it comes to Germany at some point. If not, I'll try to see the West End production that opens in November this year. I hope you get to see it and can tell us all about it. I checked and Hamilton will not come to Boston until 2018. It'll probably be here in the Spring, it's a long wait. I don't know why they don't come to Boston first, we are right next door to New York.

So I just saw Tanz der Vampire ... for the second time in three weeks. What a bloody brilliant show. The cast was more or less the same as last time, with just a few exceptions. I'm IN LOVE with the guy who played Alfred tonight. His name is Tom van der Ven. He is so small, but he's got an amazing voice, his face is incredibly expressive and his comedic timing is perfect. This character is the reason why I love the name Alfred so much. He is by far the most likeable character in that show. Alfred is the best. Currently in a hotel room.

Ok this is not theatre, but I don't wanna post this in the TV thread. Basil, I hope you don't mind. This is basically a Glee reunion (Darren Criss, Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist were all in Glee). AND at the same time a crossover with Smash (Jeremy Jordan). AND a literal crossover between Supergirl and The Flash. Mind blown.

I just bought tickets to go see Wicked over the summer and I'm very exited. The tickets were very expensive but I hear it's excellent. I'm very much looking forward to it.

Oh boy, a video of Lauri Brons as Christine! I saw her twice in Hamburg, she was absolutely fabulous. Also Nicky Wuchinger as Raoul! <3

As much as I dislike the Broadway production of this show, this scene is actually really good. And the reason why it is so good is that it is one of the very few scenes that is faithful to the original German production. They didn't change anything, they didn't add unnecessary comedic elements that weren't already there. It's brilliant. Also Max von Essen is a wonderful, beautiful Alfred. I'm melting at his voice. This is from the Broadway production as well. Just listen to the music, it's sooo fucking good. Especially, especially the Prayer part towards the end (it starts around 9:20 in the video, seriously ... just listen to it ). Watching and listening to this live is an incredibly powerful experience. Who in their right mind would turn a show that has that kind of music into a stupid comedy?

A little bit of Phantom trivia. Today: the Chandelier Crash. In the original production, it's a very slow decline, the chandelier is not really crashing as much as it is gracefully decending onto the stage. It looks kind of lame if you are only watching a video of it, but if you are actually there, it is still super impressive and dare I say chill inducing. Especially if you're sitting directly beneath it, which I have several times. And then it silently goes back up during intermission, which looks like this. And then we have the Las Vegas production, which is suuuuper cool. The chandelier is free falling onto the audience for a few seconds and right before it crashes (presumably killing everyone sitting beneath it), the room goes pitch black and you only hear dramatic crashing sounds. You can actually hear people in the audience scream as it goes down, it's amazing. When the lights go back on, the chandelier is back on the ceiling. In reality, it obviously doesn't ever reach the ground, it stops midair and ascends back to it's original position while the lights are still off ... but imagine being there and having that thing come towards you, and then everything going dark. This is what it looks like without the light going out: The tour production is interesting, because it doesn't actually always feature a crash, it really depends on the theatre. Sometimes, the chandelier just starts emitting lots of sparks, but doesn't move an inch, sometimes it falls, which looks like this. I kind of like it, because it's fast and the backdrop falls apart as well, which is cool.
