Always late to the party -- sorry! Just watched it tonight, and love what's already been posted about it. I don't think I ever went back to rewatch any of S5 or S6, so this will be a great catch-up for me. The scene with Jaime and Cersei struck me on a couple of points. I remember so vividly Cersei telling Joffrey in S1 that 'the enemy' was 'anyone who isn't us', but I don't remember hearing that same thing from Jaime. But here, Jaime: "What he built, he built for us . . They're going to try to take it away." Cersei: "They?" Jaime: "All of them out there - our enemies. As soon as they see the stones in his eyes, they'll start tearing us apart." Paranoid, much? But I guess it's really Foresigntful, much? Another thing with that scene - when it opened, looking down on Tywin from above, what really jumped out at me were the big bright, bright blue eyes painted on the stones -- a very subtle foreshadowing of the ultimate War to Come with the WW? And lastly, I thought the irony was priceless when Cersei ridiculed Jaime for being "a man of action", doing whatever occurred to him, " no matter the consequences." When the KL scene opened with Cersei walking up the steps of the Sept, I thought it set up a nice parallel for her walking down those steps later, naked and with shorn hair. Like everyone else, I loved the Maggie the Frog scene - so excellently played by Cersei and Maggie! The number 3 (wishes) recalled for me the HOTU where there were so many 3's in Dany's vision. I've always missed the inclusion of the valonqar prophecy, too, but I like what Lady Sansa's Direwolf said about that: I wondered then, and I do again now, if D&D left the valonqar out to attempt to keep Cersei's murderer a secret until time. There are so many candidates. Kevin Lannister is such a weaker character in the show than he is in the books - I noticed that tonight but don't think I've thought about it before (that's how 'absent' he is in the show, I guess, case in point). For most of the KL folks tonight (Kevin, Lancel, Margaery, Loras), all I could think about was the last episode of S6. I even got a little jolt when I saw Lancel without the sign of the HS carved into his forehead. It was like going 'way, 'way back in time ... so much happens between 5x01 and 6x10. So good to see Ser Barristan alive again! When Dany was angrily ordering that whoever killed White Rat be hunted down and killed, the look on his face spoke volumes as he simply gave a slight nod and said, "Your Grace" before turning and leaving, i.e., "you're really making a big mistake here, Lady, but OK, whatever you say..." And so very sad about White Rat. Couldn't miss that ride up the lift with Jon and Melisandre, with her looking at Jon so seductively and asking if he were a virgin, and Jon looking totally uncomfortable and freaked out by her. I thought all the Jon scenes, and Stannis, and the Mance scenes were all so, so great. So, all the wars to come - *High Sparrow v. Cersei and the part Margaery and Loras would play in that; *Westeros v. WW; *Sons of the Harpy v. Dany and Company, and I'm gonna say also with *Sansa v. Ramsey. So sad watching Sansa ride into that trap, thinking that she was safe with LF. I thought it was a great episode, and that the ending with Jon shooting Mance was not only a "Yay!" moment, but also a beautiful, succinct way of setting up Jon, Stannis, the Wildlings, their essential characters, and all that is to come with them.

I remember being a bit annoyed that Roger Allam hadn't come back as Illyrio. Not that I care about the Illyrio character unduly, but when you have someone like Allam in your show, you should try and get him back. Now if they include him by the end of the show this will be forgiven. But they were in the guy's manse, I'd have liked to meet him. Even if it would've stepped on the toes of the whole Peter-Conleth double act.

I haven't even got to 504 yet and I'm already pissed that Jon would even consider rejecting Mel. Mourning Ygritte would only be an acceptable excuse if she were also played by Carice van Houten. Goshdarned curly-headed weenie-boy.
