This is one of my favorite episodes ever. The rise of religious dissent everywhere, the first appearance of the very un-GOT-like High Sparrow, Volantis, Sansa's return to Winterfell and that unforgettable look she gives Roose.... all of it was amazing.

What I find fascinating about D&D's writing is that they are able to put so much content in just one episode. In these 60 episodes there were moments when it felt that some scenes were rushed, but for the vast majority of the episodes they had a great sense of pacing and momentum.
With this epsiode only they were able to cover Tommen's wedding with Margaery, to show their relationship, to show her manipulating him, to show his relationship with his mother starting to crumble, then they showed a peak of rivalry between Cersei and Margaery and then they showed the rise of High Sparrow and Cersei schemes with LF.
At the same time they gave a great character moment for Brienne and developed her relationship with Pod, Sansa arrived at Winterfell, she met the Boltons, we saw LF's schemes with the Boltons, Arya made the first big step in her training, Jon had a major development as LC, we found out some things about Volantis, about Dany's reputations among slaves and other people in Essos, we find out about red priests being interested in her, we had good character moments with Tyrion while he was suffering from his traumas from the past, and then an important plot development when Jorah kidnapped him.
And everything in just one episode where nothing felt rushed.
Amazing.

It's hard for me to re-watch the scene where LF "sells" his plan about marrying a Bolton to Sansa because it is so ridiculously stupid. I can't get over it. lol i couldn't agree more holy shit. i just want LF to choke on the show so badly because of how fucking stupid this plan was

man all this book cersei hate makes me sad lol. i love her chapters a lot. and i actually think that Lena does a fantastic job when the writing leans towards Book Cersei. Blackwater, 501 flashback, 507, 508, 510 are all episodes in which we get Book Cersei and they are some of the very best epieosdes for Cersei imo.
i love show cersei a lot too but y'all are sleeping on book cersei

Envie ! Not only did I not connect Dany's execution scene last episode with Jon's this one, I never would have gotten that "look them in the eye" aspect - that makes all the difference in the world. Ah, Ned. I have always loved Stannis's lines to Jon, though: "You're as stubborn as your father - and as honorable . . . I didn't mean it as a compliment. Honor is what got your father killed." Another thing you said that I'd never quite gotten before - have always loved the Brienne and Pod moment, with Brienne becoming 'real', but I never connected that in telling that story she realized that was how she'd been treating Pod. That's why these rewatches are so fun! Each of us sees something a little different we didn't see before and we can fill up pages and pages with all the amazing little hints, symbolism and parallels. It's always amazing to me when someone finds another little gem I didn't catch. The writers of the show are really good at these sorts of obscure references that later on seem so obvious when we realize the connections they're making. I could fill up a very long essay ( moiaf already has for me though!) of all the parallels between Jon and Dany leading up to the coming season yet people still try to deny there's any obvious connection. By this time if anyone's still denying it, they're just trying too damn hard. Brienne's opening up to Podrick and telling him the story of how she was bullied by suitors and Renly came to her rescue was a very sweet moment in the show and gave Brienne a lot more life and backstory for fans to really connect with her character. Gwen has done such a fantastic job with the character I know she identifies with every word Brienne said in that story because she *is* a living example of how being a woman who does not fit the 'normal' expectations of beauty and strength is actually amazingly strong and beautiful. I love her to bits!

I like her chapters, but in the books I just can't see her as the main human villain. I don't know why, maybe because we saw her thought process, and while interesting she doesn't seem threatening enough, but I never felt in the books that she can play that role of the last human antagonist.

Frankly speaking I don't see her as the last human antagonist on the show either. Obviously she's a villain but I think she has too much of her own story to just serve as an antagonist for the starks and dany. I think show cersei is one of the few characters that has the same spirit as her book chatacter. It's just that since we get cersei's inner monologue in the books. Her rage just feels a lot more visceral to me. I guess I just wish that more people could appreciate her like I do. It sucks that TWOW is taking so long because I want to read her chapters so badly. 6.10 was great but I want too see it all happen from cersei's POV which we will in the books. I didn't care for the high sparrow and tyrell scenes in season 6

Well, yes in the show she is almost a protagonist, almost antiheroine.

I love this episode. Well-paced, atmospheric, Mylod's debut, great moments all around, Pryce enters the scene...so much to be said for it. I may get a tad effusive.

"She's certainly very pretty. Like a doll. She smiles quite a lot. You think she's intelligent? I can't quite tell. Not that it matters." Cersei's just the best.

Sophie's great in the Moat Cailin scene. And Gillen is pretty good too, which is a rarity for him post-s1.

Stannis questioning the wisdom of Michael Corleone (even though in this instance he was proven right)...I mean, come on, bub. Michael Corleone knows his shit. And he died eating an orange on a lawn chair as an old timer. So he fared better than you in the end.

And then we get Faye as the Waif. Who actually in the end looks like this. Beautifully subverting her show-characterization.

LOL at Nathalie's reactions to Faye's dramatic humor in that giant gif konradsmith ... almost like she's not quite sure what to make of her haha.
