I start cheering as soon as Dany faces the slavers and tells them her reign, far from ending, has just begun. Drogon flying to the top of the pyramid then landing right beside Dany in all his "huge-ness", Rhaegal and Viserion breaking free of the dungeon in a ball of fire, the horde of Dothrakis charging the SOTH and whooping like cowboys, it's just too magnificent. Tyrion got to give Theon a little shit, and I always, always love seeing Tyrion, but by and large seeing the four of them agree that they all had terrible fathers and hearing Dany say that they're going to leave the world better than they found it - go, Team Targaryen! Her first alliance with a Westerosi family!
Liked the bonding scene with Davos and Thormund before the battle, and feel so vindicated when Davos finds the little stag he carved for Shireen. Didn't notice the significance last year when Davos was telling Torrmund beforehand that Stannis had demons, but that insight enabled him to focus the blame on Mel without starting to hate Stannis. And the sobering moments: Sansa saying if they lose, she's not going back to Ramsey alive, Jon telling Mel not to bring him back if he's killed. And seeing those poor Wildlings, armed with nothing but crude implements, standing behind Jon and Tormund, ready to go into battle nonetheless.
Couldn't watch much of the Battle itself from the time Ramsey came out with Rickon, all the way up to the time when the Knights of the Vale arrived. Too bloody, too violent, and even though I knew the ultimate outcome, it was just too hard to watch such a slaughter. I did get a huge lump in my several times, though, and I don't remember doing that first watch last year. Once was when Rickon started out and John jumped on his horse to race towards him, and then again after Rickon was killed and John, falling right into the trap, raced toward Ramsey. Those Starks. I thought of Stannis telling Jon it was his honor that got Ned killed. Also teary when Wun Wun was killed (I kept hearing him say "Snow" when Jon went to the Wildings for help), and again when the Stark banners were lowered over the walls of WF.
Loved Sansa's words to Ramsey at the end, especially the twist that the dogs were loyal, "now they're starving" - the first time Ramsey realized he was truly doomed. Fat Walda and baby Roose vindicated.
Such changes in Jon and Sansa both, even within this season itself. And with Sansa, this is really the first time - after Joff and all that she endured in KL, after all of her family members who were murdered, then all that she endured from Ramsey - first time that she was able to 'get even', to 'take back'. For Jon, too, but I think the difference is that Sansa has gone through all that she did virtually alone. Of course, Jon hasn't had an easy time of it either, especially being assassinated, but . . . he had friends beside him, even at the end when he was murdered.

I. Adore. This. Episode.
From Dany and Drogon knocking over the Masters' guard, to counting every delicious thwack to Ramsey's face (21!) this episode is truly outstanding.
Tyrion and Dany, with Tyrion reminding her of what her father intended to do and that, "burn the loyal and the traitors" isn't an effective form of government. That scene on top of the pyramid reminds us of what a great Hand, Tyrion is going to be and Drogon calling to his brothers gets me every time.
And that Battle. It didn't win all those awards for no reason. I find myself holding my breath when I watch that scene and as I am claustrophobic it makes me light headed. Part of me believes Sansa didn't tell Jon about the KotV because she wasn't sure when they would arrive. Thankfully, in television-land, they arrive just in time and we get Jon and Ramsey's final throw-down.
I love that Sansa gets the last word with Ramsey. Other than Joffry, I can't think of anyone whose death I enjoyed more (that sounds weird, but you know what I mean).

Amazing episode. I've rewatched this and 6x10 more times than the rest of the season and am glad I focused more on the others in the re-watch project because the grande finale of this season really tends to overshadow the rest and it was just a kickass season front to back.
I've got more to say about certain scenes but up too late tonight to summarize properly. I'll catch this up tomorrow!

I don't think there is a weak scene in this episode. The events are epic, great, exciting and just amazing but at the same time the acting is spot on. It has me in tears. The masters coming in thinking they're in charge Idiots. Drogon is beautiful, a winged miracle. I love how Tyrion still looks so mesmerized by him. Jon is so Ned Of course he suggest a duel wit Ramsay, of course he would only put himself on the line if he had the choice. And of course he runs for Rickon, he would run and try to save him no matter what That boy could not be more Stark. Sansa is right, they'll never get Rickon back but he would not be Jon Snow if he didn't try anyway. He's also so Aragorn, it kills me. Ramsay can have his twenty good men, we have Jon Snow. We also have Peter Baelish, the hero that was promised and the army he stole. I love the conversation between Davos and Tormund about their kings. It's unbelievable just how many wonderful characters this show has and how well they've been cast. There's one difference between the books and the show that I really love how the show does and that is moving plots along quickly Yara and Theon just show up in the throne room with Dany and Tyrion and it works just fine. No need for a long set up, no need for a scene in between after Yara and Theon left the Iron islands.. It just works like that and I love how it starts with Tyrion roasting Theon, nice callback. As for the battle itself, I love how it's so different from Hardhome. It's shot and edited in a totally different way, very claustrophobic at times. It's a good thing they were allowed to take their time and build the battle, have those quiet moments as well and create desperation. And to choreograph everything. Every award, every praise it got - it deserved. And more. The amount of detail still amazes me, maybe more with every re-watch. Ramsay's face when he realizes Jon is still alive Poor Wun Wun, he was a champion.

I think what is great with Dany and Tyrion's scene is that they didn't portray Tyrion as a failure who needs Dany to save him. Many things that he has done in stabilizing Meereen were acknowledged by her. They are real team.

Easily one of the all time best episodes of the series, not a bad scene throughout. From Dany raising up to finally end slavery in Essos, to the prebattle meetings with Jon and Ramsey, I love that scene, Jon trying to end it just the two of them, a call back to the first season with Jaime and Robb after the battle at the Whispering Wood. The battle itself was heartbreaking and amazing all at the same time, I do believe if Jon hadn't seen Sansa, he would have beaten Ramsey to death. I could honestly watch this and 6x10 on repeat, such great storytelling.

So first time I watched this with my eyes and jaw wide open, so taken aback by the whole thing. This time I tried watching it with a more critical eye, and... I can't do it. This episode is just too damn good for me to be able to criticise without getting into tiny nitpicks. I know battle episodes aren't everyone's thing, but that's certainly not my view. This easily tops Blackwater, Watchers, and Hardhome for me. And I mean both parts - the 'battle' (if you could even call it that) at Meereen is my favourite Dany material since Astapor; maybe even as far back as the dragons hatching.
One interesting little thing I noticed: Rickon is going to be buried next to his father, which means Ned's bones actually arrived in the show! Of all the tiny little things I want in the future books, it's Ned's bones being back in Winterfell. It's overdue!

Yes I thought this was a really nice little extra touch and I do hope we'll see a statue for Ned in the crypt.
