Re: Tywin building the rock. He was speaking metaphorically. Tytos Lannister was a dumbass, he was a blonde Robert Baratheon. Tywin reclaimed the Lannister's fearsome reputation. He, figuratively, rebuilt the House from the group up, after his father led them into a downward spiral. they did make it super confusing though because IIRC tyrion said he was put in charge of "building" the sewers or something or i was just too busy wondering why the ladders looked so shitty to pay attention to what he was saying i thought i was the only one who noticed how weird the ladders looked lol. I think Tyrion was just out in charge of their maintance, so he had his own little secret door installed for his hoes. I think CR as a whole just kind of had no personality. I get budget and CGI, so like I'm not mad about it, it just felt like of basic. It was just a castle on a cliff lol.

I disagree with a lot of Ser Creighton's gripes with the episode, but let's be fair, he still gave it a 7. Hardly Rant and Raver level hate with people giving it 1s and 2s. oh no i'm not talking about him. i disagree with some of the stuff he said too but he gave valid reasons for disliking them. some other people i've encountered in other places are just whiny about it and i am glad they are not here with us

I was slightly underwhelmed by Casterly Rock tbh, but really have any of the castles on the show lived up to how you pictured them, or have seen in artwork? I'd say S7 Dragonstone has been the best yet. It's the surrounding areas and locations that really standout in the show like Dubrovnik as KL.

I'd say S7 Dragonstone has been the best yet. It's the surrounding areas and locations that really standout in the show like Dubrovnik as KL. I saw S1-3 before reading, so I'll admit a lot of what I picture in my head comes from the show. However, we had never seen CR and such when I started reading, so I had a lot more imagination haha. I had never really given a fuck about Horn Hill, so I was surprised by how much I loved that castle. Stokeworth was on screen for like a second, and it just looked like a generic castle. Highgarden seemed basically how I pictured it, we really only saw that one far out shot, and then a very tight walking shot and Olenna's room, so I don't have much to judge. Dragonstone is PERFECT though. I wish it was creepier, but it's still just amazing to me. I think I'm just a salty Lannister fanboi. The Rock has been hyped up as super wealthy and extravagant and also kind of cold and sinister, so I was looking forward to it. And it was just white castle with some red banners lol.

Did not care for Brans scenes, though Sophie did a good job., Bran went to far to the I am not a person I am. Three eyed Raven edge. Bloodraven was a tree but he still acted human. Bran is fighting for the living, so act alive. I could understand him being distant or putting on a more human act while his distance is an underlying nature. But spare me the monotone crap, your fighting the zombies not becoming one. It was bugging me when Arya was doing it, but when she found out about Jon she imediatly changed. Bran should be glad to be home and hugged by his sister, . Yeah I think I agree. Brans complete detachment felt a little out of nowhere to me. Hope he's not like that the rest of the way.

I gave it a seven, there were parts I liked and parts I didn't, I also know this is not the high bar for the season. So I can't really say that was better and give it the same score. Tyrion, Dany, Jon, Sam, Jorah, Jaime and Olena all had good moments. I though two thirds of the episode was great. I thought the Cersei scenes were okay, but Euron ruins any scene he is in. Horrible casting, no plot, he is mostly a plot device who is trying to act like he is crazy by bugging his eyes out and sticking out his Tounge. Not vested in the character, little development and horrid casting. I'll also give shout out to the Mel and Varys scene thought it was well done. Did not care for Brans scenes, though Sophie did a good job. I think Kit has handled character change the best it's subtle but it's there, Bran went to far to the I am not a person I am. Bran should be glad to be home and hugged by his sister, yes the end may be coming so try enjoying the moment. some little things bugged me as well, Tywin built Casterly Rock? That's not even cannon on the show. Battles? What battles? Iron Bank and slavery? A ot of good, some blah, some bad. I could of given it a 10 just for Jon and Dany, but I am not that guy, you gotta be perfect to get a 10 and this was far from perfect. Though Jon and Dany heavily twisted my arm, I'll let it snap before I lie to myself. I don't think he was Tyrion was in charge of building the sewers. He says that as well. Tyrion built the secret entrance and room. See I thought the same thing at first until he says he didn't build the sewers he had me do it and in the process he gave himself the secret enter acne and room. I thought it wierd one sounds metephorical and then we see he is speeding literally. Because really did build the sewers secret entrance and all. He built up from near ruin, he built the army and he built Casterly Rock as we know it. Apperantly Tywin did a lot of work. Not impressed with the rock either, it's suppose to be ancient and a rock.Tyrion was also being punny, he didn't build the sewers that was beneath him. Get it beneath him.

I also liked what they did with Braavos and Oldtown in the show.

It didn't seem like much effort was put into Casterly Rock. Only explanation could be that it has been largely abandoned in anticipation of this invasion and even the food provisions have been cleared so that the invaders can't stay there for long. One glaring plothole regarding Casterly Rock in this episode. Jamie mentions that he has fond memories of his childhood from there. So clearly Lannisters were living there before Tyrion was born. Within the same episode, Tyrion says that he was put in charge of building (not maintaining) sewer lines at the Rock. So does that mean Lannisters were shitting gold before that and did not need sewer lines?? 💩💩💩

I took the talk of Tywin building up CR "as we know it" to mean that he either rebuilt much of the castle (perhaps it had fallen into disrepair under Tytos's mismanagement) or he simply commissioned that more castle be built and in doing so, made Tyrion add sewage systems to those additions.

I thought so too but then the castle we saw clearly looked old. It seemed unlikely that it has been rebuilt, renovated or restructured in the last 10-20 years.

This all looks a bit inconsistent, that's all. Jamie's line about fond memories makes sense because it is their ancestral home and it looked appropriately aged. But Tyrion's line should have been that he was asked to maintain or repair the sewer lines and not built them. Then it would have all come together.

I thought it was a little weird that Horn Hill looks bigger than Highgarden. It's clear they put more effort into the first one.

I had never really given a fuck about Horn Hill, so I was surprised by how much I loved that castle. Horn Hill was way more impressive than Casterly Rock. That's just wrong! I liked the outside visuals of Casterly Rock. I wasn't expecting the exaggerated look from art I posted prior to the episode, but from the rooftop where Grey Worm looked down into the courtyard, it was rather bland looking with white walls and drab rooftops. I guess we really did over-psyche ourselves for it to be an opulent castle befitting Lannisters!
