Sansa on the Iron Throne is not something I want either. Sansa as Queen in the North on the other hand, fully embracing her Northern heritage ... yeah, gimme that. Well, THAT I want too. Sansa as QitN would be great. But I always assumed the seven kingdoms would be united once again in the end... This, so much. Her slow progression back towards her Northern roots was one of my favourite parts of her story in the books, and the #1 reason why I want her to be the Stark in Winterfell at the end. I can relate to that kind of progression on so many levels it's not funny. It would be poetic, for the Stark least connected to the North at the start to be the one ruling it at the end. I think QitN is unlikely, as GRRM has made his opinions on secession very clear with Brexit, and to be honest I think an independent North would go against the message of unity the books/show are pushing. But I can dream.

My true name is Davina, Queen of Scots!

I think what Dany saw in her HoTU dreams is going to come true. The iron throne will be destroyed, after the war for dawn. That's not to say a new capital won't be established. I see no one on the throne as of yet. Yeah this is my mindset too. Maybe not literally destroyed, but just that people see the throne isn't relevant in comparison to the real threat, and it's forgotten. Yeh, the vacant throne room without out a roof and snow inside is the future i see of KL. I think Oldtown is a good choice for the capitol, furthest from the wall, and unlikely to be totally destroyed during the wars. I think it's possible that the geography of Westeros itself will change though so anything is possible.

If Iron Throne is still standing at the end. Reluctant King Jon Snow.
Besides quite a few hints in the book pinting to it, if leaks are true about who he really is, that should seal the deal. You don't introduce such a thing without using it. Dany would be obvious but most of all to me she's not meant to rule but save, conquer. On the show constant birthright and I will rule seems to to be the exact opposite. Same as being barren.
Or maybe both of them dies like Rhaegar and Lyanna. Egh tragic mindset.

What about the option for both? I think they will rule together. What about the option for both? I think they will rule together. My word! GRRM loves his complementary duality. Behind every great Targaryen king there was a strong queen - be it Rhaenys and Visenya, Mariah Martell, or Betha Blackwood. And of course, the greatest of them all - Jaehaerys and Alysanne - were equal in everything but name. The early Targaryen queens - Visenya, Rhaenys, and Alysanne - could have sat on the Iron Throne in place of their husband. GRRM introduced the idea of early Targaryens on Dragonstone co-ruling the island together, and again with Aegon III and Jaehaera (before Jaehaera was killed and replaced by a queen that was less symbolically and dynastically important). I'm fairly certain GRRM believes that the optimal state is when there are both a strong king and a strong queen that rule together. One is not enough, you need two so they can advise and balance each other. I envy your optimism. Both of you. To me it's heading and I've been prepared for ti for some time. One of them or both are going down. Not something I want or wish for for obvious reason but hints and foreshadowing even might say not the strongest - but it could very well go this way. I understand the concept of duality. Show is going on and on and on about Daenerys not being able to have children of her own, Daenerys I will rule and how is this her birthright. We know that Jon is who he is and when they hammer this notion to us, it likely goes the opposite direction. Especially third fire she must light for love, I think it's bound to inolve her and Jon - I guess not for good.

The Iron Throne is a major symbol of evil in this narrative. If Dany/Jon/Sansa are crowned king or queen of Westeros, they'll have to sit somewhere else. There's already a throne at Dragonstone...

Especially third fire she must light for love, I think it's bound to inolve her and Jon - I guess not for good. Well, what you say is something what I've already heard a thousand times. Frankly, I simply don't find it all that likely that Dany will die because in HotU she turned away from Drogo and Rhaego, just like she turned away from the Iron Throne. The part with the IT clearly foreshadows that she will eventually prefer to leave the game of thrones to go to fight the WW, so why should not her leaving Drogo and Rhaego not foreshadow that she doesn't die? But hey, maybe she could pull a Saera, and not rule, but live. The statistics say though that Jon would face great odds of becoming a mediocre or downright shitty king though. I guess that would indeed make the whole thing much less cliche. Let's wait and see.
