This little guy showed up on my property on Friday and I guess we're keeping him. My 17 pound part Maine Coon isn't very pleased, so we're going to have to work out some kitty politics. He's a bit malnourished and was covered in fleas. We've been to the vet, got shots, a check-up and de-fleaed. He's obviously a cast-off...I live in a very rural area on 5 acres, he didn't just wander up, so I'm saying he's a gift from the old gods and new. Now, I need a name. My big cat is named Hemingway for all of her extra toes...I've always wanted a black cat to name after my on screen handle, but he looks more like a Ser Pounce. (BookSer Pounce was black and Balerion was probably his pappa) However, I know that kittens grow up and he may grow into the Black Dread. He's currently watching me type this sitting on my shoulder, so I think he's curious about what you think too. What do you all think? Balerion or Ser Pounce?  |

Gotta go with Balerion. Ser Pounce is cute for a kitten, but Balerion is a cooler name.

And taking on Hemingway...he's not one bit afraid of anything. They can 'fight' for hours. Note the hairless strip on his tail. It was injured when I got him, but it is healing nicely and the fur is starting to grow back. He's more than doubled in weight. (be sure to enlarge this pic...it is hilarious)  |
