7. A lot of good scenes and lines, but the plot is all over the place and the timeline (my beloved gripe) is ridiculous with people and ravens going from here to there and everywhere.
I can't help but be disappointed by this episode in general. It's a big one hour tease that lead to a cliffhanger. The name was intentionally and pointlessly misleading. They wrote both the Tarly's off in such a way that it seemed as though the characters were brought into the show with no understanding of what they would be used for and so they had to quickly write them off. It should of been clear when they had them make no attempt to reclaim Heartsbane. They had no purpose other then to pad out the Lannister cast. We got some good scenes, but they didn't really mean too much. The scene with Gendry, while awesome, was magnificently bad in the sense that if Joffrey, or Cersei were offering a reward for/hunting Roberts bastards, they wouldn't notice a prime suspect in Gendry hiding in the same place he used to live when they know his description well enough to send Gold Cloaks across the Crownlands in search of him, yet they would recall a dwarf they used to be searching for? The scene with the Brotherhood was probably the best, or the scene with Arya and Sansa because it's developing on their relationship. Sansa is a part of the world that she grew up around, of intrigue and she kind of revels in it, whereas Arya despises that. It works, whereas the Gendry stuff was too contrived. It was convenient writing. The possibility of a Lannister/Targaryen treaty is something I really hope doesn't happen. There is no need to drag out Cersei and Jaime's plotline anymore. It feels like it is at its climax already. Cersei is basically madqueen, and Jaime knows it. They run the risk of overcooking it. The Maesters are very flat in their reaction to the White Walkers. There whole commentary on the Northermers been dumb also seems too forced. It's as though conflict is being generated for conflicts sake, rather than to further the story. There were other ways to have Sam leave the citadel. The are some moments, but it was a weak episode in most aspects and definitely the worst of the series so far.

I'm going with a strong 8 out of 10
Minus points for Dickon being an idiot and no Ghost.
Otherwise a good bridging episode from last week's barbecue to next week's hunt.
I'm glad that Jamie didn't cut his brother in two when he say him, but the look on Jamie's face when Cersei tells him to never betray her again. Oh, and Jon's arm shaking as he reached out to pet Drogon - priceless.

The fact that there's a 3 and a 10 in the same poll. I feel as though people are rating it on a single scene (or lack of) rather than the episode as a whole.

(this is also ignoring the fact that the search for tyrion was far more recent than the search for baratheon bastards was)

Oh I loved it, an easy 9. I don't really have a lot of complaints, I felt it was packed and exciting, I loved the character reunions, loved a lot of the humor in this episode, loved the (not so) subtle looks and hints. Man. I knew watching it this episode would get a lot of (undeserved) hate, for me though it stood right up there with others we've seen this season.

8. It was a good episode but Hill is still the weakest writer on the show. I always feel like he needs few lines to better explain characters' motivations.
We needed more lines at that meeting at Dragnstone and more lines from Gendry to explain his motivation now.
D&D and Cogman were able to sell things this season I thought were strange from the leaks, and Hill failed to completely sell something that made perfect sense to me, like for example white hunt.

I was caught between a 7 and an 8. For me, it was the weakest of the season so far. I think the content overload, Hill's writing, and the characters moving all over the map will leave the fandom more divided on this one, but it's almost inevitable when you only have 7 episodes. The next two will definitely make up for this one though.

Well some people expected that the whole season will be like this. We know that the next 2 episodes are extra large, so nothing will be rushed there.

(this is also ignoring the fact that the search for tyrion was far more recent than the search for baratheon bastards was) Gendry has been back in Kings Landing in the show for four or three seasons, with at least some time while Joffrey was still alive as well. It's not like Tyrion, who just so happened to pass by some guards. Not to mention he was living from what we can tell in near enough the exact same place. Its always been my biggest gripe with them sending him back to King's Landing. It always seemed like an easy out to the Gendry plotline and it felt a little too cheap. Davos just goes there and two seconds later Gendry is on board with going along with him. It was a little too rushed for my tastes. I get that sometimes you need to look past that, but if I'm gonna give an opinion on the entire episode, to me, it sticks out a little too much.

They need to brush aside certain things and line then up for the future. But it just feels like they could've handled it more smoothly.

I gave it a 9. I've been handing out 10's left and right for the past few weeks, and this episode wasn't as earth-shaking as the last two, so we'll leave some room for next week's sure-to-be phenomenal showcase. But I still loved every second of it!
“Eastwatch” will most likely inevitably be labeled a piecemover episode by those expecting blood and action, especially after last week. I was expecting this, but I've been pleasantly surprised how many people are responding so enthusiastically. Of course, I haven't truly made the rounds yet.
Jon. Tormund. Jorah. Beric. Thoros. GENDRY. Sandor. I’ll follow that crew into battle and frozen hell every day of the year! Last heroes, one and all.
The looks that Dany was giving Jon in this episode are accelerating my unabashed descent into a full-blown Jonerys shipper. I’m aware of where I currently stand. I refuse to apologize.
Seeing Jaime and Tyrion interact again was fantastic. The reveal that Cersei is pregnant with Jaime’s child is an interesting complication. I’m eager to see where it goes.
And Gilly! My girl Gilly! Sam may not have heard that bombshell you dropped, but I did. A wildling woman that everyone overlooks is responsible for perhaps the most critical reveal in the show’s history. Shireen’s lessons paid off!
One final note: seeing Eastwatch-by-the-Sea in the opening credits was an awesome surprise. I didn’t think we would get that!

Speaking of Eastwatch the scene of Bran's Ravens was gorgeous.
