Feast in the great hall, toasts and everyone laughing, Daenerys wearing a new dress in her house colors...could we be witnessing a wedding? Some people have speculating it could be their wedding feast. It is tradition in Westeros for brides to wear their House colors at their weddings. Dany has not worn her House colors before so it seems like a special occasion.

MaesteressAlso, don’t forget this masterpiece by Ramin Djawadi. It’s the new version of “Truth” that contains the lullaby in the middle for the Jonerys baby. It’s also interesting to note how it waves the main theme of the series into the song.

Feast in the great hall, toasts and everyone laughing, Daenerys wearing a new dress in her house colors...could we be witnessing a wedding? Wedding feast? Uhm, I said it before but Jon has no value to Dany to marry her at this point. Later? Sure that could/should happen depending on events unfolding. Could be wrong but the celebration of their victory against the dead seems more than enough occasion.

I'm so afraid Dany's rage at Cersei and her own insecurities are going to end badly for our two lovebirds...but I'm going to cling to things like this to remind me how much I loved their love story!

And that's exactly what happened. They went for rage. I'm very heartbroken and trying to sort it all out in my head. My posts are all over the place. Loving and praising some bits and scenes where the acting was phenomenal, and hating other bits that just did not make sense. But like you, I'm trying to cling to the love they should have had. It's sad that all along I couldn't imagine them together or how it would work out but kept hoping somehow it would anyway. I guess I should have realized my gut instinct was telling me years ago they weren't going to work out.

That was my attempt to try to soften the blow I knew was coming without obviously giving away any spoilers.....I've had almost two weeks to come to terms with this and while I'm in a much better place than several days ago, I'm just heartbroken for both Jon and Dany individually. And even the actors who play them. Emilia is clearly not happy things went this way - she's been fairly vocal about not liking where Dany's story went that I'm actually surprised HBO didn't sit her down and tell her to shssh.. I was writing it up to she (emilia) didn't like the incest thing and couldn't get past it. Boy was I off.
I just can't see how the two of them come back from this. Jon was horrified. He already had become afraid of her. Now he's lost respect for her. How would they get past this? It makes me so so so so sad. And mad. Jon was standing there, telling her she wasn't alone and that he loved her and he just wanted her to be queen and she still couldn't see it. Now I'm terrified she is going to kill Jon (or the other Starks), and if that happens, I'll never forgive this story, I don't care who wrote it.
And I'm also tremendously irritated at a show that focused so much on strong, amazing female leads only to fall right back into the "women in power are just bitches or crazy" mindset.
And like you Envie, I've clung to R+L=J for SOOOOO long....as a crucial, central piece of this puzzle and now I'm really not sure what the point of it is. I cannot see Jon wanting anything to do with ruling at this point, even if its what everyone else wants.
UGH, I am SOOO happy I can finally talk about it out loud and not sob quietly to myself!! It's been the worst couple of weeks ever.

And like you Envie, I've clung to R+L=J for SOOOOO long....as a crucial, central piece of this puzzle and now I'm really not sure what the point of it is. I cannot see Jon wanting anything to do with ruling at this point, even if its what everyone else wants. One of these days I'll go back a few years and pull out some of my posts before the big R+L=J reveal so I can reflect on that journey which for me, was really the apex of the story at that point in Season 6. Season 7 gave the final confirmation of his legitimacy but by then it really didn't matter anymore, he was a ruler in his own right as a bastard. I just wanted the personal satisfaction of having finally witnessed his identity. Jon then going on to ally with Daenerys was the ending I had hoped for. I remember telling a few folks here that I wasn't seeing how a romance between them would work out but I was willing to ship them anyway because they were ice and fire coming together to change the world so I was onboard with that regardless. And now all those hopes are crushed in just a few episodes of the final season. It seems really cruel to be honest, more for those who were super in love with Jon/Dany being in love. I just always felt some trepidation about how they could be together, so perhaps I was subconsciously holding back too much hope for that? I don't know now, still processing the shock of this and trying to come to terms with the fact that there's just no way to repair it now. The goose is cooked. You can't undo this damage and Jon has to make a terrible choice now of what to do. I'm unsullied still, but even I can narrow it down to just a few options and none of those are good outcomes. I am brokenhearted for Daenerys most of all, but also for Jon, who I have hung all my hopes on as the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna and one of the main reasons I fell in love with the story over 20 years ago when I first started getting the suspicion that this "Jon Snow" character wasn't who he was being described as in the books. I started connecting the dots, like many others did, and I started to fall in love with the tragic story of his true identity and where that would lead the story considering the war of five kings was the main focus at the time. I waited many years to see it come to it's fruition and now I'm just so sad that the tragedy has passed from Jon to Daenerys. Really. Just shaken up about it.

How terribly wrong we were. I guess, I've should've seen it coming but it's star-crossed lovers as if I ever saw a one. It'll happen in the books too so at least I'm prepared by now. I suppose Jon will get a lot darker, ruthless in the books post-resurrection but not enough to stand by her thorough burning King's Landing. That is a major no for Jon as it should be for any human being. Envie Still disappointed the wy R+L=J panned out and what it served for. I hope books go into much bigger depth in this than dumbing it down to just what we got. I understand that to some degree considering time restraints. Jon's identity has barely been touched upon on the show in regards to this.

Sigh. I kinda just want to bury myself somewhere in this thread and try to recapture the magical ship-ness of Jonerys. Could have been the love story of a lifetime. Cry.
I've accepted the way things have gone for them, and while I don't object fully, I long for what could have been.

Sigh. I kinda just want to bury myself somewhere in this thread and try to recapture the magical ship-ness of Jonerys. Could have been the love story of a lifetime. Cry. I've accepted the way things have gone for them, and while I don't object fully, I long for what could have been. As painful as this is, I am wondering if this wasn't Mr. Martin's objective all along. To give us a tragedy/love story within the frame of a much larger picture that was distorted by a thousand different threads all blending together into a large tapestry. In the end, if you destroy some of it, the threads may still be there in their individual colors and you can remember how beautiful it was. It's taken me a few days to really digest my feelings on the ending and come to terms with why I was always conflicted on my feelings for Daenerys as an indvidual character. I've gone back and read some of my earliest posts here and elsewhere on it and always felt like I wasn't being completely honest with myself because I always claimed the Targaryen banner anywhere I had the chance, but wasn't really behind Dany's conquest 100%. It felt contradictory within myself, and yet here we are - the most controversial and contradictory ending ever about her and that realization sort of hit me. I think I may have had a gut feeling I denied that she wasn't the best choice for a ruler but I kept trying to fit her square peg into a round hole, so to speak. More than anything, it was Jon's sad story that intrigued me most of all in regards to all things Targaryen. I thought he would find happiness with Daenerys somehow, and in the end, find it within himself to rule despite not really wanting it. I had hopes, like others in our group, that together, they would overcome the obstacles and defeat both the Night King and Cersei together. Well, technically, they *did* that and the irony is not lost on me. It was the aftermath of how it was done that shocked me and was so upsetting. Perhaps the show writers never meant to make it more clear that Dany might decide on tyranny in the end. Maybe they really just wanted it to be a shock. I don't think that's how it's going to play out in GRRM's version. I think we will get a whole lot more explanation for it in Winds of Winter, and I do think he's going to finish it. His most recent blog post on the ending of the series and his writing has encouraged me to continue my love for it beyond this tragic ending for the Jon/Dany relationship. The bittersweet part, for me, is seeing Jon go beyond the wall again. He's already lost Ygritte, and now Dany. I hope his heart does not freeze over up there and he can find some future happiness with the freefolk.
