6. Some good stuff (Cersei), some bad (dragon riding), some poorly thought out/depicted (Theon rescue), the majority average/forgettable/necessary set up stuff. Rest of the season is set up nicely now though

I give it a 7. Some things worked for me and some things didn't. It was a little more choppy than I remember and I felt some things were left out.

8 is a good solid number.
Good, but it really established very little that wasn't already there. Lots of reunions which was cool.
Euron finally gave Cersei a finger in the bum (I assume) and lost Yara. It's Euron so I just laugh and try not to put too much into it.
I really hate the northern stuff. I hate that Sansa is (still) being really bitchy with Jon despite the fact he clearly made the right choice in siding with Danaerys. I don't get Sansa and Arya's characters at all. Last season they spent so long getting played by Littlefinger before being saved by Bran, and now Arya is like "Sansa is the smartest person I know!" and not so subtly telling Jon not betray his family. I don't get the Stark kids at all. Although Bran was used a lot better in his appearances this episode than he was most of the last season, so that's a step up.
The scene at Last Hearth was great, and my boy Dolorous Edd is back! (btw, when I type "my boy" into my phone's keyboard, the next suggestion is "Dolorous")
A solid opener.

7 solid episode, I took issue with some repetative narration and some false dilemmas used to create more drama than is needed. I don't like the new opening and didn't see a reason to waste money changing one of the most iconic openings in history.

I was going back and forth between an 8 and a 9, and ultimately went with a 9, because there were just so many scenes that I loved in this premiere. We got to see Jon have an emotional reunion with Arya (which was PERFECT), We got to see Jon riding Rhaegal, and some lovely scenes between Jon and Daenerys (we've seldom seen Dany look that unreservedly happy. She's so in love).
We got to Jon learning the truth about his parentage, and Arya reuniting with both the Hound and Gendry, with clear romantic tension in the latter (I also thought I picked up hints of a new love theme during those scenes ... shouts to Ramin Djawadi). Then there was Jaime and Bran seeing one another for the first time since Season 1, a rather terrifying sequence involving Tormund, Beric, Edd, and the reanimated corpse of poor Ned Umber (RIP), a devastating sequence involving Sam, Dany, and Jorah (GREAT acting from John Bradley there), an awesome opening sequence mirroring The King’s Arrival in Season 1 (loved hearing that score come back), a beautiful scene between Theon and Yara, and so much more! All the scenes in King’s Landing were good as well! Lena Headey, in particular, killed it (loved just how annoyed Cersei was about the lack of elephants).
There's definitely a element of post-premiere glow involved here, because I'm so damn happy to have this show back in my life. But after three viewings, I'm still delighted by everything I've seen. We're off to a fine start!

It wasn’t bad but it felt wooden and stifled, hopefully it’s the weakest episode of the season

The Northern story line has been relatively weak after S6. What concerns me is that our cunning characters don't have anything to do. Tyrion is wasted and so is Varys. The reunions were okay but am I the only one who thinks that they are beginning to be a bit repetitive? The Dragonriding scene was a bit too Disney for my taste, but all in all a very average episode. 7/10.

Got around to finally write the review after rewatching the episode.
I liked it. It's not perfect, but it's far from terrible as it's way better than half of season 7.
Cons: - The transitions between scenes are very rush. I have a hard time explaining this, but like each scene jump to another very quick that it doesn't give some time to breath. The Greyjoy scene in particular. I loved the Greyjoys and I enjoyed Theon's and Yara's chemistry, but I wasn't expecting the scene to be this anti-climatic. - Dislike the Jon and Dany's scenes riding on the dragons. What's the point of this? It's out of place and It's so bizarre that this happened right after Bran told them they have no time to waste - but let's have fun riding on the dragons.
Pros: - The reunions between the characters are well-done and I'm glad they didn't leave most out with few exceptions (coughGhostcough). Tyrion and Sansa, Jon with Arya and Bran, Arya with Gendry and Sandor, Sam and Jon. Sam and Jon, and Bran and Jaime scenes are my favorite from this episode. - I enjoyed the scenes with the Northerners. I know a lot of people have issues with this given how quick they behaved toward Jon, but I do enjoyed this storyline. It highlighted that not everyone is going to be on Jon and Dany's side despite their good intentions.
Side note: Great jump scare with Ned Umber. That one got me.
8/10
