Unfortunately I don’t think Mel and Cersei will meet.

I still wanna see what she was doing in Volantis 😭 I do too but I don't think Ania Bukstein filmed anything for s8. She was pregnant for a lot of the shoot. Plus she posted something recently on her instagram that at least seemed like she wasn't coming back. I hope I'm wrong of course but I haven't been able to find any indication of her return. It would be great to see her and Mel conversing though. To what extent is Mel beholden to her? Just how old is Kinvara? Etcetera etcetera. Unfortunately I don’t think Mel and Cersei will meet. Carice could be lying but since she's said this in a few interviews now, she probably isn't. I don't think it's really her style to toy with the press the way some others in the cast do.

I feel like they should show Volantis, because if she doesn’t go there to do something, the writers shouldn’t have bothered sending her there. What’s the saying: Chekov’s Gun? But I think it’ll just be an excuse to get her out of the way for a couple episodes.

I think someone losing a baby paralleled with someone successfully having one is kind of shitty no matter who the characters involved are. Same if both of them end up dying in childbirth or something like that. I think someone losing a baby paralleled with someone successfully having one is kind of shitty no matter who the characters involved are. it's def something the series would pull tho. Oh i absolutely agree with both of these statements, i was just wondering

Maybe Winterfell helps with the burning Winterfell. Can’t she put out fires? She said she could have helped at Blackwater.

www.huffingtonpost.ca/entry/carice-van-houten-melisandre-game-of-thrones_n_5cb63b0ee4b0ffefe3b875abI've seen some speculation regarding this interview that Melisandre might be waiting for Jon and Dany in Dragonstone in ep. 804. Then could take part in the 805 battle. If she were to go to WF as a lot of us theorized where she'd have to face Jon and Davos's threat on her life. But if she's in Dragonstone, they have no right to kill her. Plus she could explain whichever prophecy drew her to bring Dany and Jon together, potentially regarding their prospective child. I like this. Reintroduce her in episode 4 with an army of red priests or something. Then hopefully she lives until the end of episode 5 or the beginning of 6. Winterfell battle is already stacked as it is, they should save the best for last!

I agree that they should leave Melisandre for the second half of the season. A lot of characters will die by the end of e3 so this gives her more space.

I never thought her going to Winterfell made a lot of sense in speculation because she was banished/exiled from the north by Jon Snow and I don't think she would violate that order. She seemed resigned to her fate when we last saw her speaking to Varys. Having her return for the second half seems more interesting for her character's story arc finale.

Melisandre is a character who has ALMOST been involved in a number of actual battles but never ends up being present. Saving her fighting contributions for the last possible minute in the climax of the entire series (and presumably having her die there too as per her own prediction) is a really great storytelling choice. You finally get to bring a full-blown sorceress off the bench in the late innings and I am here for it.

Her filming schedule aligns with a lot of the WF battle, but we know that she was filming KL scenes at Magheramorne Quarry in March and April as well so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

It's been a while (a whole year, jesus), so can someone remind me why we're so sure that Winterfell burns down? Was it the set photos where there were large flames? Have we entertained the possibility at all that it doesn't burn? The trailer shots of the battle all have the same sort of orange-y hue, but it doesn't look like the castle is actually burning down, so I'm wondering if it is nothing more than a lighting choice or something.

I posted this in the leakbowl thread but honestly it can be posted here too. imgur.com/gallery/h0CwY98The Nikolaj bts interview was taken place in a red keep chamber room it seems like. Considering this is the paint hall this could have no relation to what he filmed but still it's interesting . I do believe Jaime will make it back to KL.

Yeah, the stuff shot in the Belfast interiors are often shot on different sets than the actual ones the actor's working on, simply because of how many different sets they have in the Paint Hall and Banbridge etc. But there's no way they'd fly actors into Spain and costume them just to fake out the people watching these featurettes.
