I hate to say it but the Jon/Arya reunion was a tad underwhelming for me. Didn’t have as much of an emotional impact as Jon/Sansa. Probably because the lack of music until the last few seconds. It was a nice scene, and gorgeously shot, but it didn’t live up to what I built in my head all these years. I figured it wouldn’t though.
Arya/Sandor otoh was great.

Oh - at the risk of being a complainer (because there were many great things about the episode), I was also rather chapped at Sansa and the way she treated Tyrion when they met. (If I don't get blasted for criticizing Dany, I'm sure I'll be burned at the stake for criticizing Sansa for that, but, really ...) Will have to say I like everything else about Sansa these days - just didn't think Tyrion deserved that at all. Her fleeing the Purple Wedding really left him in a horrible place - not that it was her fault, and not that I blame her for leaving, but I can't believe she couldn't put herself in Tyrion's shoes and see what the repercussions were for him.) Yeah, I have to say I was also kinda disappointed at her reaction to that. Not only because it was a shitty thing to do for Tyrion but also because it led her to so much trouble. Not sure staying in KL would have been any better but she could've adressed that fleeing got them both into shit and not just snark yeah, but did you die on Tyrion.

Still, why was Jon looking at Drogon and Drogon at him while he was kissing Dany? That seemed odd. You must be new to this fandom. It’s been long established that Jon would get Drogon. But in all seriousness, I just took it as Drogon watching out for his mom.

The scene between Bran and Jaime is amazing lol
Now that Dany's team is at the North, I'm really hoping for a scene between Sansa and Tyrion.

Wow. I'm still processing this. What a fucking rollercoaster ride for an opening episode. As others said, that little Ned Umber scene was horrific and really freaked me out. They definitely went for the shock value there. That spiral ... I hope we find out what it means aside from the spiral standing stones where The Night King was created ... For someone who hyped Jon riding a dragon before this season, I am going to say I now am not sure how I felt about it being comic relief. I guess that's better than being super serious and the writers explained they felt having it anchor us back to Jon/Dany as a couple with the dragons there was important. I agree. And what a beautiful place they went... sort of a Ygritte/Jon moment there "Let's stay here forever..." I also don't know how I feel about the way they had Sam tell Jon immediately after finding out about his Father and Brother being executed by Daenerys. That was really hard to take and a tough reunion for Jon and Sam. I am just as gut punched as Sam over that whole thing. What a shit way to find out something like that... Well, at least we got a great reunion in Arya and Jon ... Man, this episode just had me up and down the whole time. I cried, I laughed, I was horrified, I was nervous and upset for some (like Sam)... wow. Need more time to process.

I thought it was a very good first episode.
They tried to squeeze in everything they could.
Ned Umber was easy to spot, before he starts moving you could see those eyes. Seems to imply the NK is after a child. UnBran is not a child.
Bran came off as creepy to me. Was it horrible timing when he told Sam to tell Jon or did he plan it?
Told you about Sam and Dany. That's going to be tough to resolve, Sam may have to die or Dany. Martin wouldn't kill Dany for Sam though. I also don't think he would create this sub plot. So it may resolve if Dany Saves Gilly or something. Still Sam's Dickon bond is total bullshit, hasn't been mentioned by Sam ever. I recall Jon talking about his family. And I know exactly what Sam said about his family.
Jon I have executed people before. Sam, but not everyone. Dude there were hundreds of people there and dip shit basiclly jumped into the fire. Now Sam speaks of treason, He's gonna make a hell of a s'more.
Bran was waiting for Jaime, all Night? Whatever it was an interesting moment, though as Bran said he isn't Bran.
Euron dialed it back some for the better. When he was mellowed out he seemed normal then he would jump into overacting.
Yara Theon, was okay.
Arya had a better reunion with Gendry who she flirted with. Arya felt much more humanized. Arya Jon was good, I get why he showed her Long law, those two sort of shared the same likes and dislikes growing up.
Dragon ride was cheesy it could of done without Jon's comedic moments. Glad it didn't go to over the top though.
Sansa is totally barbed. Big picture girl, big picture.
Lady Mormont go fuck yourself.
Peter was on point.
Cersei is glad the wall was breached, that's the Cersei I like.
I didn't like the new opening either. It's to tightly focused.
All in all a strong start but it was a bit underwhelming for me. A lot of build up so it seems natural.

m’s line about not giving up a crown for her people was complete bs. She spent the better part of the story doing just that. And Sam knows it. He had a scene with Maester Aemon where they discussed Daenerys. I guess you're right, really. I think I'm just sour that she burned Sam's father and brother, just b/c Sam's so, well, so Sam and so good, and it was hard for me to see the impact that news had on him. I'll get over my little Dany grudge, I'm sure.

The umber boy - chilling! When he came to 'life', or came undead... Really, really uneasy about Arya and Jon, though a little encouraged with that last scene btw Jon and Sansa - think they'll work it out because of what they've already gone thru recently with each other Theon/Yara - done perfectly! Cersei - I was shocked she let Euron in, but that last scene, about putting a prince inside her....ah, that's her 'cover' for already being pregnant with Jaime's A little impatient with the Jon/Daenerys thing. I mean, Bran told them right away that the wall had been breached, that there was no time. Thought the call back to Ygritte and Jon in the cave (Dany, "We could stay here 1,000 year") was corny. I mean, please ... Liked Arya/Gendry encounter ... a little disappointed w/ Arya/Sandor encounter, but maybe it would have been unrealistic otherwise So sorry for Sam -- anxious to see how Jon's learning of his real identity begins to sit with him. Sam's just golden, and confronting Jon so appropriately. Would you have executed them as prisoners if you'd been king (and we know John wouldn't, not in those circumstances), and would you give up your crown if you were Daenerys? I know I'll get killed for saying this, but there're just a whole lot of things I don't like about Daenerys, never have. (OK, I'm bracing for being lambasted...) Jamie/Bran at end! What a way to end the episode. Sam’s line about not giving up a crown for her people was complete bs. She spent the better part of the story doing just that. And Sam knows it. He had a scene with Maester Aemon where they discussed Daenerys. I called BS on this new sub plot before the shit aired. Sam knows it, he complimented her on it. Jon knows it to remember his talk with Missy. They chose her. Though Jon is to upset to really talk and so is Sam. Which makes me wonder what the fuck UnBran is playing at.

I really loved that Arya rose to Sansa's defense with Jon. "She's the smartest person I know." I don't understand Jon's reluctance to at least listen to what she has to say. Although, one minor thing that bugged me - I'm getting a little whiplash with Assassian Arya and Giggly Affectionate Arya. I'd like to find a happy medium. I would have liked a Ghost reunion - at this point, do we even remember the last time Jon saw him? We took some giant steps forward in the storylines but it didn't feel too rushed. How long does it usually take HBO to get this (and the after the episode spot) up on HBO Go? (EDIT: LOL, nevermind - alcasinoroyale is stealthier than Arya! lol)
