A lot of people are pointing out whether the dead in the crypts are going to be resurrect since they keep showing the crypt scenes including in the teaser. I think we're getting some very heavy foreshadowing here that it's very possible they do. The crypts are right near The Godswood and who's going to be sitting out there in the Godswood? So I imagine we're going to get a solo Night King coming for Bran and possibly raising the dead beneath in the crypts. This will be absolutely terrifying since that's where all the women and children are. I don't even want to consider the possibility of a hundred undead Mothers and children coming up out of there if they're killed and re-animated. I want to believe they're rescued... ugh. Also, it's worth mentioning the lyrics of the Jenny of Oldstones song could be foreshadowing something more: "High in the halls of the kings who are gone, Jenny would dance with her ghosts ..."
But while the lyrics are "haunting" (har har) and beautiful, there's an even deeper clue buried in there. I had to go digging for this, because I barely remembered it from the books, but the old woods witch who asked Arya to sing the Jenny of Oldstones song for her and also claimed The Prince Who Was Promised would come from Aerys and Rhaella's line ... which means Jon and Daenerys, of course. But there's even more! The song was supposedly, possibly written by Rhaegar Targaryen himself and is a song of how Duncan Targaryen married Jenny of Oldstones instead of the Baratheon woman he was betrothed to and set aside his crown for her. This, of course, echoes Rhaegar's own path in many ways. There's just tons of symbolism in their choice of using that song. It's ... Epic. *EDIT: So I finish my big essay here, and lo and behold, an email says HBO uploaded a new video (not the previously uploaded inside the episode or ep 3 promo I had already gotten) ... and what's this? A lyric video made special for the Jenny of Oldstones song?? Yeah guys... they're hitting us over the head with this one.

If that's the case, imagine wright Brandon and Rickard Stark. Also Rickon wasn't burned either. Sam needs to get Gilly and Little Sam out of there.

I'm sure Bran isn't the only thing he wants. Maybe but it's not like the Three eyed Raven is volunteering any information. You would think with the NK on the move this guy would be spilling the beans. Hey guys probably should of said this sooner but the NK is after me and he marked me and can always find me. Hey buddy how did you stop him last time? That info might be useful. Any info really. He has come for the Three eyed Raven before, many times with many Three eyed Ravens. He wants an endless night, he wants to erase this world. I think he will go after anything that threatens his plan but I get the feeling that's about it.

Ok, just finished my re-watch and I have a better understanding of that scene where Theon's return interrupts the tense heart-to-heart Dany and Sansa were having in the library.
So Dany asks Theon why he's not with his sister. He looks at Sansa and says "I want to fight for Winterfell, Lady Sansa. If you'll have me" - Sansa rushes to hug him and Daenerys has a shocked look. I didn't understand this look the first time watching.
I think it's this: Daenerys realizes at that moment how close this family really is and that they are able to forgive one another even after great betrayal, which is not something she's ever known or seen.
Theon's loyalty is to Sansa and Winterfell even though he's sworn to Daenerys.
I think (hope) this scene is about teaching Daenerys the power of forgiveness. And... acceptance. She will have to forgive Jaime and accept Jon. It's a powerful moment that's really subtle, but that's how I interpreted it.

Also, I just watched it three times (!) and I also thought upon first watch that Dany was pissed about what Jon told her and that at the end of the episode, she was glaring at Jon and storming off. I think not! Dany was shocked when Jon told her, of course she was, and one of her first reactions was anger, but she didn't react nearly as angrily as Jon did when Sam told him. Anger covers fear and this reveal is scary in many ways for each of them, even though it has (and will more so, I think) good aspects as well. And at the end of the episode - duh - can't believe I didn't pick up at first that it was a look of "OK, here we go" and their going off together.

i saw the dany reaction to theonsa as confusion bc she has no idea what those two have been through together. it's not like he would have ever been forgiven and/or accepted without that.

It could be confusion mixed with shock that Theon is deeply loyal to Sansa and the Starks. There may be more layers here to be revealed with that but I do believe it's a start to Daenerys understanding the deep connection the Starks have and where she can (hopefully) carve a place to belong. I very much want to see Daenerys drop the iron throne pretense she's been carrying all this time and finally understand that people do things for love over honor and for loyalty over blood rights. There's so many lessons people like Theon and Sansa could teach Daenerys.

As Jon said the only reason I am not killing you is what you did for Sansa. Arya and Jon don't have the connection or shared experience that Sansa and Theon do. Still when Theon spoke with Jon later, Jon showed an unusual amount of kindness to him. Part of that was he could see first hand what a wreck Theon had become and he took some pitty on him. Jon and Arya are not close with him though they trust him enough, at least Jon does, Arya's the mean one in the bunch, who knows how she feels about, but she was at the Twins so my guess is not good.

Just some odds and ends:
* Way back in S1 when the wildling had a knife to Bran's throat, it was Theon's arrow that perfectly killed the wildling without his having a chance to slip Bran's throat - Robb really jumped on Theon for that - perhaps rightly so, but it was a great shot. Theon's def great with a bow. * Tormund's story of how he got his name and why he's so strong (Har!) * Is Heartsbane a Great Sword? It looked huge. * Anxious to see how the Dothraki do in this battle; I've absolutely loved them before, but I'm afraid they won't fare well with the AotD
I also searched but couldn't find who it was that posted that the scene of Sam, Little Sam, and Gilly in the bed together reminded them of the old couple in bed together when the Titanic was sinking - brilliant comparison, whoever that was

Why hasn't Jon told Daenerys about her other relative Aemon? I think she would be thrilled to know about him and he knew about her and wanted to see her. Still holding out for that convo but I'm not optimistic anymore.

Loved it. The knighting of Brienne was an incredibly moving scene. It felt like the culmination of Brienne's storyline, and to have it done by someone she respects and admires was really powerful to me. Beautiful bit of acting by Gwendoline Christie, her smile was so precious. I was basically sobbing during that entire scene. Sansa and Theon hugging made me tear up a bit, too. Never felt any romantic energy between them until now, but I'm kind of into it. The Arya / Gendry sex scene made me feel a bit uncomfortable though, ngl. Maybe it's just me, but despite Maisie being in her 20s, in my mind, Arya is still a kid. I was not ready for this. This whole episode gave me major Helm's Deep vibes, just that feeling of impending doom with very little hope for victory or survival. And it really felt like they set up a bunch of characters to die in the next episode, particularly Jorah, Grey Worm, Tormund, Theon ... and maybe even Brienne. Lyanna Mormont wishing Jorah "good fortune", and Sam's wanting to see him when "it's through" ... yeah, thanks for the death sentence, you two. And also, they kept repeating like a million times how everyone was gonna be safe in the crypts ... yeah, I don't think the crypts will be that safe. I feel like something super fucked up is gonna take place down there. I kind of want them to be done with the Night's King storyline by the end of next episode, and the last three episodes of the show to deal with Cersei and the politics of what happens after, mainly in regard to Jon's claim to the Iron Throne versus Dany's. That would be a pretty Game of Thrones thing to do, imo. Absolutely fantastic episode overall. I really appreciate that it had so many scenes between characters just talking and reminiscing about the past, those have always been some of my favourite moments in Game of Thrones. This episode really allowed the relationships between characters to breathe, which made them feel more real and more human.

Upset might be a better word than anger, that's a hell of an info dump. And the look is Jon gives her the nod and then it's go time. Neither knows if they are coming back. I think we get a little more talking between them next episode as the wait above the cliff for Davos to signal them. Not sure why they need Davos to signal them they are on a cliff overlooking the battle, I am sure they can see what's going down. You know what hit me, everyone is in armor, Tyrion is in plate and Sansa has armor, is someone going to put the damn queen in some fucking armor as she is an arrow magnet? How many damn seasons has this not occured to anyone. Last season they talked about all the arrows and not one person said, hey how about some armor. She has a set in the books and thinks about getting a better set.
