About Varys: I keep thinking about Dany's interrogation/confrontation with Varys last season when she pointed out how fickle his allegiances were in the past. I'm trying to remember exactly what she said before she got to the "If you ever ... I'll have my dragons burn you" part. Was it that if he thought she was making mistakes or becoming a bad ruler that he should come to her and tell her what he was thinking? I'm fuzzy on that. But (1) he's been so uncharacteristically quiet these last two seasons, and (2) aside from vouching for Dany, the main reveal we got from Kinvara was that she knew what the voice in the flame had said to Varys and whose voice it was. For the series to emphasize that, as they had several seasons before when Varys showed Tyrion the sorcerer responsible that he'd finally captured, it's got to lead to a significant event that's still to play out. I I have this sneaky feeling that Varys or Sansa might use Jon's parentage and complicate things. Varys is well we know what he can do and if he thinks Dany is too emotional as he showed in season 7 that his alliance could shift if he thinks it benefits smallfolk. Also in the books supports fAegon. It would be a way of following up on the books but in a different format. From the promo, it seems Northerners like Dany and Sansa is still to some extent against her. She might try to use Jon's heritage if she ever learns about it as a way of earning independent North because she knows Jon would agree to it. Jon would never use his parentage but others might want to.

It's not Alys or Sarra Could just be a North/Vale extra. it's a northern girl, judging by the collar, but yeah the actress's insta seems to confirm alys got an offscreen death like her father. (I'd seen this screencapped questioned on tumblr already but it was from someone who thought euron was sansa in the throne room shot in the trailer, so...) Nice detective work

For the series to emphasize that, as they had several seasons before when Varys showed Tyrion the sorcerer responsible that he'd finally captured, it's got to lead to a significant event that's still to play out. I wouldn't hold your breath on that, maybe Varys mentions it. I figure he sort of acts like Mel does in episode 5. Has some plot device that may help but fail, like the tunnels or Little birds. Then dies after doing something to help. My guess is he gets his moment Winterfell and the battle with the WW is to Mel what KL and the battle there is to Varys. He is tied to KL and Cersei is his NK.I agree. Varys left King's Landing with Tyrion, so his fate is tied to Tyrion and House Lannister moreso than Daenerys. I've seen some suggestions that perhaps he betrays Dany and she burns him alive, as she threatened to do. While that would definitely support his response "I would expect nothing less from the Mother of dragons..." (Is he hinting here she could be the same as her Father?), I sincerely hope that's not the outcome because I still stand by my belief (and many here in this group) that Dany is not going to be a mad queen like her father was the mad king. While she does have some of the hot-headed tendencies. I think she listens to her counselors. She has listened to them so far in Season 8 (Jorah, for example, suggesting she make amends with Tyrion and Sansa) so I do not see her suddenly deciding to ignore all that or refuse to cooperate with her 'contenders' like Jon, or her advisors like Varys and Tyrion. I think your guess is a good one. Mel's final battle played out in Winterfell against Death and she stepped off the planet on her own terms. Varys represents the smallfolk and what is just for the people, so his battle is with Cersei and will play out in King's Landing.

I Daenerys: Swear this to me, Varys. If you ever think I’m failing the people, you won’t conspire behind my back. You’ll look me in the eye, as you have done today, and you’ll tell me how I am failing them. Thank you!!!

I did read one other little tidbit of speculation last night that I hadn't thought about before, stemming from the night before the BoW when Tyrion pulled up a chair and had a long chat with Bran. Someone posited that Bran might have told Tyrion about Jon's real identity (thinking that he, Bran, might not survive and that someone else needed to know perhaps?). But for whatever reason, that he might have told Tyrion about Jon and that Tyrion, with this knowledge, might shift away from Dany to Jon, although, granted, we have no way of knowing if there will be any sort of schism btw Dany and Jon. Not proposing that this is true, just that it's an interesting possibility that I hadn't thought about before. And it makes me wonder about the implications for same. ETA: This could figure in to what Envie has pointed out above:

Conleth did an interview recently (with Carice) where he went on about Varys' connection to the red priestesses again. I have no idea what this could mean but I'm guessing we'll know soon enough.

This is a very interesting idea that will cause further drama for sure if true. Again, as I have mentioned in my Shakespeare/Kit discussion - this stuff is all going to come to a head tonight. We're in for quite a ride, we better buckle in!
