All the ones that Nezzer mentioned above, plus I thought that last scene with Jon/Dany was very well done, bittersweet indeed. I also thought the scene after that with Drogon was good. Both were handled as well as they could have been.

Absolute favorite was that shot of Dany with Drogon behing her, spreading his wings. That will make a great gif.

Absolute favorite was that shot of Dany with Drogon behing her, spreading his wings. That will make a great gif. I was about to post about that because it really caught my breath there at the start but I forgot it for a bit with all the other stuff to absorb and try to understand what came after that. It was a really 'angel of death' kind of symbolic shot. It's just hard to make that fit Daenerys for me. Not enough time for me to adjust to that turn to the dark side to appreciate all the symbolism of it yet. My favorite scenes: 1. Arya sailing off west of Westeros with the dire wolf on her sails and happy. I'm glad at least one of my favorite characters got a good ending. 2. Jon riding north of the wall next to Tormund and all the wildlings. That really helped me cope A LOT with my misery and sadness over him killing Dany. 3. Drogon burning the Iron Throne (even though the flame effects seemed a bit off) I loved that scene and him gingerly picking up Dany and flying away. 4. Tyrion getting a little of his groove back (several scenes) and his nervousness adjusting the chairs just before the first council meeting. That was cute. 5. The montage of all the three Starks putting on their best clothes to face the future. That dress for Sansa was unbelievably beautiful and didn't get enough screentime for all the hard work I'm sure Clapton and her team put into making it.

The scene between Jon and Tyrion. It completely carried the Dany twist for me and gave meaning to it. Well done.

5. The montage of all the new 'leaders of Westeros' putting on their best clothes to face the future. That cloak for Bran was unbelievably beautiful and didn't get enough screentime for all the hard work I'm sure Clapton and her team put into making it. Sansa looked regal as hell too. Yeah, I need to do another rewatch just to note things like that - it was only in this forum today that I saw the fish clasps on the collar of Edmure's coat. Sansa's gown, those weirwood leaves, the entire thing gorgeous. We actually saw this last season, but I love the outfit they gave Arya - 'bout time she'd gotten a good one after those many seasons with the same clothes! I also need to do another rewatch just to especially note Djawadi's music, in fact need to do that for the entire season. Some unbelievable parts of 8.5 really stood out, for instance, but I lost sight of that b/c there was so much else happening so quickly. In spite of everything, I think all of the showmakers put their best into this last season. I'm looking forward to the "Looking Back", or whatever it's called, coming up this Sunday. And as much as anything else, the remarkable closeness among all the actors throughout these last 9 years touches my heart almost as much as Martin's characters themselves do.

1. Jon and Dany in the throne room, and Drogon destroying the Iron Throne - I was incredibly invested in Jon and Dany together, especially after last season. I didn't want it to end this way for them, even though I always feared that it would. I wanted them to rule together. I wanted them to have a child and be happy. But if it had to end in tragedy for these two lovers, then it ended in heartrendingly poetic fashion. The way that the entire sequence was staged - from the direction, the writing, the cinematography, the performances - all of it was beautiful. Emilia was on another level, as she's been all season, and Kit made me feel every ounce of Jon's pain - you could tell just how much it destroyed him to do this, how he was looking for any ounce of light that Dany might give him so that he could spare her life ... and she gave him none. And Drogon's anguish was beautifully rendered as well. That final shot of Drogon carrying Dany's body away and vanishing into the mist will haunt me forever. I teared up both times I've seen it so far. It will not be the last.
2. Jon and Tyrion's conversation - Both conversations they shared were outstanding, but the first one especially. I loved how much time that scene was given to breathe, for every line to land, for the camera to linger on every little expression gracing Peter and Kit's faces. More than any other scene in the episode, that scene needed to work, and for me it 1000% did. "Sometimes duty is the death of love", indeed.
3. A Time for Wolves - The closing montage with Sansa, Arya, and Jon - Game of Thrones has seldom if ever done montages, but as they say ... you save your best for last. Sansa as Queen in the North (so well-earned and My God, her costume was GORGEOUS), Arya sailing west of Westeros, Jon returning to the Real North with Tormund and Ghost with the first signs of spring peeking through the snow. After all of the death and horror, I needed a moment of true catharsis, and this sequence delivered that in spades. It began with the Starks. It ended with the Starks. This was always, above all else, their story. A Time for Wolves, indeed.
4. Brienne writes Jaime's Kingsguard entry - One of the scenes that I was most hoping to see. Jaime and Brienne were another couple doomed to tragedy, but Brienne's final gesture was a true act of love. She will always remember the best of who Jaime was, and now thanks to her, future generations will as well. "Died protecting his queen" - just perfect.
5. Dany's victory speech - David and Dan directed the hell out of this entire episode, but this sequence was especially gorgeous. Several people have already shouted out the incredible shot of the dragon wings unfolding behind Dany, but every frame of that scene was like a painting come to life. And Dany's speech was awesome in the classical sense of the word - impressive and terrifying. I found myself thinking of The Lord of the Rings again, specifically Galadriel's words to Frodo about what would happen if she ever took the Ring (or in this story, the Iron Throne): "In place of a Dark Lord, you would have a Queen ... not dark, but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the sea! Stronger than the foundations of the earth! All shall love me and despair." I've thought about that parallel before when Dany burned the Tarlys last season, but this was the full embodiment of that idea. It was amazing to behold.
Honorable Mentions: -Tyrion breaks down after finding Jaime and Cersei's bodies (Peter Dinklage will win his fourth Emmy for this, and deservingly so). -The Starks say farewell (definite echoes of the Grey Havens there. The Lord of the Rings allusions were numerous and all beautifully rendered throughout the entire episode) -The choosing of Bran the Broken as King in the Dragonpit (Great speech from Tyrion. Also, the sequence was quite funny, from the Lords laughing at Sam's suggestion of a true democracy, to Sansa's iconic shutting down of Edmure: "Uncle, please sit.". The most savage burn in the entire show? Quite possibly). -The final Small Council scene (alas, we will never learn the punchline to Tyrion's "I once brought a jackass and a honeycomb into a brothel". Truly, nothing could be more bittersweet ... ). -Jon petting Ghost, and getting a nuzzle in return. Good boy. Also, everyone can lay this issue to rest now.

I expect I'll be doing multiple rewatches, only two so far. I did notice the shot of Tyrion and GW's distinct un-unsullied appearance on first watch but missed the water bottles. Guess they'll take out the water bottles eventually like they did the coffee cup, too.

I do look forward to the documentary and am hoping we will get a good amount of interview with Michele Clapton on how she created all these amazing costumes. Cersei's gowns were absolutely gorgeous as well. I did edit my post, however - as I didn't realize until re-watching that the red weirwood leaves were part of Sansa's gown, not Bran's cloak or whatever I thought it was - I was emotional at that time so I thought he was in the montage. I guess his sigil is the raven, but I think the weirwood would have worked as well but it was so gorgeous on Sansa's costume too.

I did see the ones on Sansa's gown but didn't notice anything in particular about Bran's cloak, so I'll have to go back to see if there's anything weirwood related there. There should be. I did think that black leather final outfit of Dany's was quite sharp, and I guess meant to be apropos to the end game as well.
