Yep, you guys already said it. Memes replaced fair criticism and people (on reddit) are not only intellectually dishonest but actually proud of it.
As for Lena's acting: I rewatched the season recently and she does more in 5 minutes than other actors in 3 episodes. Her micro expressions and body control are incredible. Yes, I wanted more of that. But no, she did not just sip wine and stare out of a window. She deserves the nomination for 8x05.

Having challenging scenes does not mean they were well acted. Imo Kit is and always has been a terrible actor, showing all the range of a teaspoon. Others obviously disagree. I mean fine, but if we talk about Emmys he was nominated for S6, so I don't see why his S8 nomination would be surprise. If Academy liked his work on S6, why would S8 be exception? He had two battles this year and more challenging scenes. And when it comes to Lena, I already said what I think. Screentime isnt't everything. She was better than Robin Wright.

Majority of people that whine about GoT nominations online didn't even watch any other Emmy nominated show. I wonder how many GoT haters watched Pose or Killing Eve?

If anyone cares GOT got 13 nominations at Gold Derby Awards, the most this year. Nomination for drama series, Emilia, Kit, Lena, Maisie, Alfie, Nikolaj, Peter, Gwendoline and Carice are nominated. The Long Night and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms for best episodes and nomination for best ensamble.

Emmy episode submissions don't mean quite as much as they used to for actors because the winners are now chosen by the entire voting body instead of a select panel. That being said, I think that most of the actors chose their best possible showcase. Peter and Kit owned the finale. Lena did wonderful work in "The Bells", as did Nikolaj (I can see the argument for "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms", but I loved Nikolaj's performance in "The Bells" - his final scene, in particular). And while Emilia was outstanding throughout the entire season, "The Last of the Starks" probably is her most complete showcase for the full range of her talents - her scene with Jon in particular. I think that her performance in "The Bells" is her absolute best work of the season, if not the series - but I am sympathetic to the idea that she (very intentionally) isn't on screen in the last half of the episode as Dany 'becomes' the dragon.
At first glance I would think Maisie should submit "The Long Night", as she's featured throughout and it culminates in her big moment when she slays the Night King. However, I do think "The Bells" might be an equally strong showcase as Arya's escape from King's Landing forms one of the key emotional throughlines of the latter half of the episode, and Maisie is spectacular. Her final scene of the episode, in particular, has wrecked me every time I watched it.
The script for the finale is now up on the Emmy website as well. I always love getting a chance to read Game of Thrones scripts, so I look forward to pouring over this one. People on other websites (like a certain toxic hellhole I won't mention by name) who are complaining about the in-jokes and casual tone that certain scene are written in apparently don't understand - or, more likely, are willfully ignoring in their ongoing quest to paint D&D as the collective devil - that scripts are not meant to be read as stand-alone pieces of literature. Above all else, they're meant to serve as guides for the actors and the directors, not the gospel truth of an inviolable sacred text. David and Dan have always written their scripts this way (excepting the premiere, which by necessity contains more detailed descriptions as they try to build the world and sell the show), and what's important is that those working on the show understand what they're trying to convey. Those working on the show now have 8 seasons worth of trust and rapport established with Benioff and Weiss, and they understand how to work with them to take those intentions and build the final product that we see on screen. And if they happen to enjoy a laugh or two at the read-through about Jon and Sansa's lack of geography skills (which is obviously not meant to be taken seriously), then so be it. The process is easy to second-guess and the final results are fair to critique but overall, I'd say it's worked out pretty damn well for everyone involved.

Maisie did submit The Long Night. I think it's now claer that actors want to submit the entire season so their entire work can be seen. That's why Sophie submitted Winterfell IMO.

I read the script and there is less jokes than in their previous submission. I can only remember one or two jokes in the entire script. But since these people are so bitter and angry all the time I see why jokes are so offensive to them.
Scenes when Tyrion walks through KL streets or when he is in ruined Tower of Hand are nicely written even if you read them as prose. Or Daenerys in front of the Iron Throne.
There was interesting callback to Orson's scene from S4 with Bran, that was cut. Also Yara voted for Bran because Theon died to protect him. Edmure voted for him because he expects some influence on court through his nephew. Tyrion now just wants everything to be right, that's why he is arranging chairs. In S3 he did it to troll Cersei. Now he wants to put things in order. Jon is not sure he can forgive Sansa for betraying him. Drogon destroyed Iron Thron randomly. He did not do it to save the world from it. It was happy accident.

10 wins at the Creative Arts Emmys last night for Game of Thrones Season 8, bringing the total number of wins for the series to a truly jaw-dropping 57, far more than any other scripted series in TV history. And they'll have the chance to add at least 7 more next Sunday at the Primetime ceremony. I'd consider the show a heavy favorite to win three of those - Drama Series, Directing (likely for Miguel Sapochnik and The Long Night), and Peter Dinklage in Supporting Actor (even with Nikolaj and Alfie as competition). But they'll have a strong chance to win Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Supporting Actress, and Writing as well! Here's a nice summary of all the Emmys that GOT has won to date over the course of its run. www.goldderby.com/article/2019/game-of-thrones-extends-emmy-record-creative-arts-awards-every-category-news/Incidentally, "The Long Night" picked up 5 trophies by itself, one short of the record of 6 for any single scripted episode. It will have three chances to equal or best the record with Miguel Sapochnik in Directing, Maisie Williams in Supporting Actress (since she chose that as her submission episode), and Alfie Allen in Supporting Actor (ditto). With Sapochnik as the favorite in Director, I have to believe that it's likely to pull that feat off.

Didn't watch the Emmys because I'm not invested in enough shows these days. Made some pizzas instead and watched TCM. But it's always great to see Thrones get the top prize.

Overall, I’m very happy. Game of Thrones wins 12 Emmys for its final season, tying its own record, and bringing its total for the entire run of the series to 59. Also, with this victory, #GameOfThrones joins Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law, The West Wing, and Mad Men as the only four-time winners of Outstanding Drama Series in Emmys history. A well-deserved honor!
Yes, I would have LOVED to see another actor win alongside Peter Dinklage (especially one of the actresses). But I had a feeling that the four Game of Thrones supporting actresses would split votes in that category. I’m happy for Julia, who I loved on The Americans (haven’t seen Ozark), but this is a bittersweet pill to swallow. Love to Lena, Maisie, Sophie, and Gwen! Thank you for everything!
Speaking of Supporting Actor, I would have loved to see Nikolaj or Alfie win … but Season 8 was absolutely one of Peter Dinklage’s very best seasons on Game of Thrones, so I wholeheartedly embrace Peter’s victory.
I'm sorry to see Kit and Emilia come up short, especially given Kit’s recent personal struggles and Emilia delivering her best-ever work this season. But I’ll never forget the performances that they poured their hearts and souls into.
I’d have loved to see the show win writing as well. Thank you David and Dan – you were brilliant, and I’m forever grateful for everything you did in writing and creating this magnificent show.
In the end, Game of Thrones won the awards I thought it would – except Directing. I’m sure that vote-splitting came into play there as well, but that was absurd. Miguel was robbed. What he achieved with The Long Night was absolutely unparalleled.
I tend to get very invested in these award shows, so I’ll revel in these victories, but ultimately, the memories are what matter. Whether they have a trophy to show for it or not, everyone involved in the production of the final season should be tremendously proud of their achievement!

Glad D&D didn’t win anything for writing or directing. I would have never been able to take the Emmys seriously again.
