Looking at this thread reminds me the huge amount of great scenes the show has last season. And there are more not even mentioned yet: Kinvara freaking out Varys, Jon executing the mutineers, Arya serving Freypies, Euron killing Balon, Mel revealing her true form, Septon Ray's speech...

1. Trial by Wildfire - Hands down the best scene of the entire show alongside the Red Wedding for me. A piece of visual and aural poetry, with the ceremoniousness and religiousness of the old world slowly giving way to something sinister, subterranean. Cersei turns into a general before our eyes. Her reaction as she watches the blast is not only one of sweet release but also shock at her own individual power. It's the most triumphantly amoral and wicked moment the show has ever given us. 2. Melisandre's reveal - Could have been a scene from a great silent movie from the 20s (sans color). Podeswa works his magic and it's glorious. The direction and Carice's performance are pure Gothic melancholy, and the reveal is masterfully done. There's pride in her decrepitude. To this day, I still think about this scene. There's a mystery to it no matter how many times you watch it. 3. Cersei's crowning - The antithesis of the Walk of Shame. It's everyone else who is shamed as Cersei walks her way to the Throne. Thus ends the most cathartic of character arcs on this show. Cersei has removed herself from the judgment of gods and men (literally incinerated both); has shed her humanity in the process. And there's only herself left. Perfection 4. Hold the Door - Not just an immensely emotional moment, but a clever one. The idea of being paralyzed by the knowledge of one's fate is genius. And yet, as young Hodor loses it, old Hodor does what he gotta do. There's a special resonance to this scene, especially in an episode that dealt almost exclusively with the issue of the personal vs. the general picture. 5. Dinner from Hell - Classic GOT but better. This is a scene that's darkly funny, emotionally charged and poetic at the same time. As hateful as Randyll Tarly may be, I felt a sort of pity for him. You see the full might of the aristocracy in all its painterly glory, but there's a dark hole in there (a literal dark hole in the background, conveyed by the cinematography). Randyll Tarly doesn't know it, but his world has stopped making any sense - his honor, his codes, his legacy. The subtext elevates this into a great scene and not just a pointless "Sam's father is an asshole" demonstration. 6. Fall of Riverrun - This entire sequence, from Edmure and Jaime's conversation to the surrendering of Riverrun and Jaime's last glimpse of Brienne, is perfect. A story of defeat and compromise told by all sides. Another instance of the old world colliding with the new. Tobias Menzies is spectacular here. 7. Arya playing Cersei - Not literally playing her, of course, but putting herself in her place, imagining what it would be like to be in her shoes. Absolutely magical moment, the most effective of all the acting troupe bits. She uses her experiences to feel empathy (and curiosity) for others. Essie Davis is a priceless addition to the season. 8. Tommen sends Cersei to her death - This episode 8 scene was already masterful when it first aired, but seen after the episode 10 throne room developments, it's even better. It's the last and most brutal shaming of Cersei, surrendered to the lions by her own son. The way she keeps avoiding eye contact with everyone in the room suggests the ongoing effects of the Walk of Shame, before her metamorphosis in the finale. Brilliant scene. 9. Jon Snow executes the mutineers - Possibly the saddest scene of the season. There's a sense of utter waste here, that all these years of honor, codes and loyalties have meant shit. Another pointless execution: the last. It's the perfect moment for Jon to finally forsake the Night's Watch. Too bad that the rest of the season couldn't live up to the promise of this scene regarding Jon's development. 10. Balon meets Euron - A stunning visual marvel. Patrick Malahide gives a blistering performance in his last few moments, and Pilou has the lunacy of someone who fashions himself a god. Magnetic to watch. HONORABLE MENTIONS 11. High Sparrow converts Tommen to his cause - Episode 3 scene, with Jonathan Pryce at his unadulterated best. 12. Melisandre's banishment - More stunning acting by Carice van Houten. This time she stands up for herself. Davos' recrimination wakes her up from her slumber. 13. Kinvara tests Varys - Gorgeously lit scene. Only time I was hooked by an Essos scene (not counting Braavos). 14. King in the North - Triumphant moment, not without its eeriness. The North is somewhat back to its old ways, but it has new visitors.... 15. Cersei runs to Myrcella - Great beginning to that whole plot. Her worry about purity and putrefaction comes to a magnificent end in the finale.

Really hard - every time I think I've got my list thought out, I read another post which reminds me of yet another scene I'd forgotten! 1. Theon helping Sansa with the words when Brienne pledged her sword to Sansa (and the scene alcasinoroyale showed above) 2. Dany naming Tyrion Hand of the Queen 3. Drogon and Meereen/Slavers Battle, Viserion & Rhaegal's prison break 4. Bran & Meera's escape and rescue by Benjen 5. Promise Me, Ned (and the way they cut away from the baby's face into Jon's face) 6. Every Lyanna Mormont scene 7. Arya serving Frey Pie 8. Dany and fleet sailing for Westeros 9. Wildfire blowing up the Sept 10.Jon made KITN And . . . the looks exchanged between Jaime and Cersei as she sat the IT, Olenna in Dorne, barristanwhitebeard 's "Brienne, Tormund and Edd's eloquent gazes at CB", @roose's "Mace Tyrell's epic speech [plus seeing him with the long plume in his helmet], seeing The Hound again, seeing the Blackfish again,
