Yep, this could really be a game-changer in the theory-crafting about Jon. If he's essentially the same as Beric, then he's slowly draining vitality and is something similar to Benjen or Coldhands etc. He very specifically told Melisandre not to bring him back so I don't see Jon being like Beric at all that way... no return from the dead numerous times. But what life he has left in him may not last. I think GRRM will use the warging trick to set Jon apart from Beric and LSH. His soul will flee to Ghost, therefore he will never be truly dead. So he won't be a "fire wight". That's my guess, anyway. Personally, I hate that theory (though it is what I expect to happen in the book) since it's really awkward and needlessly complicated. That's why I think the show deleted the warging aspect and had Jon truly die. They also seem to have deleted the "fire wight" business. Jon remains 100% human and normal as far as we can tell. As to the deletion of LSH, I'm beginning to think she will truly be important in the novels and GRRM isn't lying about it. Beric being a significant figure in seasons 7 and 8 is odd as hell and seems to point to this. Warging may ensure that he won't have the soul of a fire wight, but it certainly won't ensure that he won't have the body of a fire wight. His body ends up as dead meat that has to be restarted in an unnatural manner independently of what happens to his soul. So, in theory he could end up mentally more or less alright, but with a creepy and badly functioning body that scares and disgusts everyone he encounters. My own long-time pet crack theory has been that the magic and ice of the Wall will help to preserve his bodily remains in such a way that the effects of Mel's magic won't be as shattering as in the case of Beric or Cat, but I'm aware it's crack, so...

Hadn't thought about it like that, but you're right. Would have been interesting if Kit had played with Jon's physicality a little, post-resurrection.

What new locations do you all think we're going to get in the opening credits? Now they don't have to show any of the Essosi locations so they have more locations to show. Oldtown, Highgarden, and Casterly Rock most likely? KL and Dragonstone will get their sigils changed I assume. that's going to be the first excitement of s7, not seeing stupid essos on the map again.

We've discussed, and theorized, our hearts out for more than a year and it's going to be amazing!!!

I just read a comment saying that Littlefinger in the North will be about as effective as Ned was in the South, which I found really interesting. Whilst LF is obviously a far more versatile, adaptable guy than Ned ever was, it's a fairly perceptive parallel that provides some nice circularity, and if correct proves that whilst Ned was too rigid to survive in a snake pit where the grasping of power is everything, his character would have been very well suited to a place and a time where leadership, honesty and collective strength were the most valuable assets. This is not the time for underhand tactics, or scheming, or manipulation, and I can't imagine it will go well for LF when everybody else is concerned with surviving the winter.
The location of central importance has moved north, which I think LF has been able to foresee, but I'm not sure he'll be able to get past everything he learned growing up and then living in King's Landing, and the more upfront, honest Northern folk will se right through it. Of course Sansa has a bit of the same in her having grown up through tragedy in King's Landing with LF as her only real mentor, but she still has the North in her too. The more I think about it the more excited I am to see that conflict play out. Sansa could have some great stuff this season.

That's a pretty interesting comparison and I think works well as a sort of parallel between the two.
