Just to update you guys on my dad he passed away on December 21st. He went quickly but atleast he is in a better place. No more pain, no more suffering. Sorry I know this isn't the forum for this convo just wanted to give y'all an update and thank you for the kind words of support. I'm so sorry to hear that. My deepest condolences to you and your family. Just to update you guys on my dad he passed away on December 21st. He went quickly but atleast he is in a better place. No more pain, no more suffering. Sorry I know this isn't the forum for this convo just wanted to give y'all an update and thank you for the kind words of support. My condolences. The harder part in watching someone fighting illness is always their suffering and pain. Eventually dying is both a release and a relief for them and us.This is so true. You almost feel guilty but you can help it.

Been awhile since the Jon/Dany feels have come back around for me - but I found this on reddit and had to share. A beautiful live rendition of "Truth" done at KCRW: (Ramin Djawadi is a God among mortals in the realm of modern-day classical music)

I heard it a couple of months ago when it first came out. I really like the more upbeat (uplifting) tone this rendition has in comparison to the version we heard at the end of season 7.

Oh wow - thank you for sharing this. This arrangement has hope - urgency - deliberate-ness! Total crescendo of the story - I could even see this as the final scene song in the entire series with the interwoven GOT theme into it at the end). Just GORGEOUS!!! I've got chills.....

First of all I don't even think that Jon and Dany ruling 7 kingdoms together would be the ideal scenario for them. Jon doesn't want the iron throne or to rule the kingdoms, he said that he didn't even understand why anybody would want to live in KL and it's not a secret that he doesn't really enjoy ruling, it's a burden to him. And there are signs that in the end Dany can decide that it's not the thing that she really wants either, imho. Daario told her that she was not someone who would enjoy sitting on a throne and ruling. And when she arrived in Dragonstone, she said "it doesn't feel like home". I think these are important. Perhaps they hint that although Dany had this dream of getting the iron throne and being the queen of 7 kingdoms, it was only because she wanted the thing that was taken from her, and she never really thought if that was the thing that would make her truly happy. So perhaps neither Dany nor Jon will want to sit on thrones and rule 7 kingdoms in the end. These are all good points and possible bits of foreshadowing that in the end, it's not really what you thought you wanted but what you left behind that mattered. No one puts this in more perfect perspective than Sansa, when returning to Winterfell and realizing that she had always been worrying about leaving there and what she wanted and not what she had when she was there with her family. This is, essentially, the lesson every young person learns as they strike out into the world, rebelling against their parents and believing they will have a better life chasing their dreams. For some, those dreams come true, but for many others they realize that wasn't what they really needed after all - just want they wanted. Jon wanted to belong and be important in his own right, not always the bastard, the one looked down upon. He wanted to fight and prove himself important ... until he found out that didn't really matter at all. His leadership arc with The Night's Watch was a journey of self-discovery the same as Daenerys would learn over time in trying to be righteous and free the slaves and rule in Essos. Their motivations were different, but the end outcome was similar ... both believed so strongly in their self-conviction that they failed to achieve what they thought they wanted though what they needed was right there in front of them all along. I thoroughly believe this is, like many coming-of-age stories, a tale of self-discovery and finding an identity. The Iron Throne is simply a device, a backdrop from which the 'game' is being played out around them and funnily enough, neither Jon or Daenerys either one was directly involved with the politics and game that was playing out all this time. Both were removed from it their entire lives. The irony here is that the ending we think we want isn't the ending we need. I don't think the iron throne is the ending at all for either Jon or Daenerys.

Both were removed from it their entire lives. The irony here is that the ending we think we want isn't the ending we need. I don't think the iron throne is the ending at all for either Jon or Daenerys. Yeah it very much is a coming of age story, even Martin says so, it's one of the reason the kids are kids in the books. It's the transition of a one generatin to another. It's one of the reasons I feel a lot of the kids will make it. It's hard to have a generational shift if they are all dead. Identity is a huge part of all the characters, Sansa am I am Stark? Arya Am I a stark, who am I going to be? No one or someone? Jon even before the watch all the back to his first chapter, who am I? I am not a stark. Bran I am the three eyed Raven, but am I still bran? Even for the more mature characters like Jamie and Cersei they both go through large transformations becoming who they are. It's always the journey. They all have figure it out, and destiny tends to play its hand as well in Martin's world. He tends to like to break the characters down and rebuild them, stronger, more developed. Jon at the Wall, what is the watch. It erases your past, it takes away your name, it also gives you no future. You are a black brother, you serve period, no lands, wife, children. Your identity is the watch, it's not till he leaves the watch that he becomes who he will be. Arya was the same. So was Sansa, they all lost their name and past and who they were at som point. In the case of Destiny, which plays its hand in the books, Jon is kind of like a leaf on the wind, fate has pushed him in certain directions. Dany is like the wind a driver and an acting agent of change. One this for certain destiny has brought them together for a reason. It's not an easy path for eaither really, nor has it ever been. If you look at Visarys characters like him tended to fall by the way side, they could not adapt, they could not move forward, they were trapped in the past. Dany on the other hand did not know her past, not really, she never really experienced the Targaryen dynasty. It's not till the end of thrones that she makes a choice about her destiny, she decides who she wants to be, and the pyre burns away the past and she is reborn in the fire. She is a key driver to destiny and the generational transition an agent of change. She too is searching for her home and her identity, where she belongs. A throne is not a kingdom, a kingdom is its people. There is no secret that ruling is no joy, heavy weigh's the head that wears the crown. The only people who enjoy ruling are those that abuse the power for themselves like Joff. We don't get it as much on the show as we do the books with Danys own POV, which in her case her chapters tend to be very internalized and there is a much better understanding of her motivations and conflicts. Then of course you got the Bran's of the world, Bran basically got fucked. First I am going to toss you out a window and cripple a child, then I am going to send you on a shitty journey, then I am going to take your identity and leave someone else in its place. Oh and Hodor? Yeah that's on you pal. Meera got it pretty bad too on the show but at least she is still Meera. Hodor is one of the great examples of Destiny. His fate was o hold a door closed for a few seconds. But what an important door.

Emilia did a recent interview talking about how they were looking at tall thin blonde actresses to play Daenerys, don't think this is the first time shes mentioned this. Anyway I don't remember Daenerys being described as tall but I do remember her being described as thin. I'm glad she got the part because I can't imagine a tall actress towering over Kit lol. Kit & Emilia compliment each other height & looks wise. Can't see it any other way.
