Solo was very mediocre for me. It was fun enough, but I don't even think I'll buy this one on DVD.
Alden wasn't good and he and Emilia had no chemistry together. In fact, the only new character that interested me at all was L3 and she died after 15 minutes of being introduced.
Chewy was the heart for me. I felt nothing seeing AldenHan sit in the Falcon for the first time, but I felt it for Chewy.
I can't even get excited about the Maul tease because I have no interest in seeing Qi'ra ever again.

I actually liked what they did with Qi’ra’s character a lot. She turned out to be much more interesting than what I thought she’d be.

I liked it, I thought it was fun, a bit disjointed at times but that stems from the director switch, and you can easily tell Ron Howard's work. Wish he had directed the whole thing. Anyway I liked it, thought it was worth the money. I don't agree about a cash grab, because almost every movie is made for money. I like exploring different aspects of the universe and history.
Another thing I thought was unfair was the constant Alden isn't Ford. Yeah duh, no he isn't Indian Solo, Fords a legend in Hollywood, thought Alden was Charasmatic, funny, and had a nice delivery. Glover could of done with more time. But I didn't go in expecting Alden to be Ford, cause he isn't, nobody is. Doesn't mean he didn't do a good job trying to fill the shoes of friggin Indian Solo. Ford was a a blockbuster machine for near 3 decades, and basically created two of the coolest movie characters of all time.
While the comparison is natural the expectation is to much. Had this movie come out with Ford in the 80's nobody would of said boo about him getting his own movie. Unfortunatly he was to busy doing Raiders of the damn lost Ark where he became yet another iconic character. It's like a young up and coming comic following Robin Williams, you do the best you can and hope the audience doesn't expect you to be him. I think they should given it a later release date, Star Wars, Black Panther, Infinity War, Deadpool, they crowded the market to much. I also agree it was under marketed. I like the fact they went with a bunch of young up and comers, great cast.
I also think it got clipped by the first real summer weather we have seen in the Midwest. We hardly had a spring we had snow a few weeks back. Then 90's for Memorial Day, everyone was out and about after a dark, crappy cold spring. Everyone I saw it with really enjoyed, maybe that's the popcorn and candy talking, but it seemed a lot people were laughing and enjoying the ride. Maybe word of mouth gives it a boost.

She got so little development outside a love interest that when she busted out those ninja movies I was like "where TF did that come from now?"

My brother and I played the shit out of that game on PlayStation back in the day.

The Last Jedi might be the last Stars Wars movie I ever see. Cannot believe what they did with Luke Skywalker. I understand they need to move on to new characters but good God they didn't need to discard Luke like that. I was expecting Luke to be unbelievable powerful at this point. But we got nothing. So he can create force holograms, Great!!!! I didn't care for a lot of the movie decisions. Like killing Snoke (so much for an all powerful force user) and force Leia flying through space but whatever as long as I got a kick ass going out in a blaze of glory Luke scene I would have been happy, but that didn't happen.
Luke didn't even use his lightsaber once. I expected him to take out that entire army of stormtroopers at the end while sacrificing himself in the process. I would have been so cool for Luke to lift up one of those Walkers with the force and smash it into anther one.
No interest in Solo at all. If they do a Kenobi movie and bring back Ewan I will watch it if it is done correctly. I had heard of a Yoda origin story maybe happening. That has the potential to be awesome but I just don't have faith in Disney anymore. But maybe they have learned a lesson. Hopefully, they will bring in some different directors will some notches on their belt. Like Riley Scott or Christopher Nolan.

Luke’s death was one of the most beautiful things Star Wars has ever done. Far more powerful than watching him lose a duel to Kylo Ren, or be gunned down by a bunch of random First Order troops. He got the most special and unique death we’ve ever seen in the entire story and people still bitch and moan. FML.

He got the most special and unique death we’ve ever seen in the entire story and people still bitch and moan. FML. Mark Hamill agrees with me. How those apples taste? Fading into nothing was weak. I bet they are trying to find some plot point to reverse that. Or they better make him the most incredible force ghost ever seen!!!!! Luke being gunned down by the a bunch of stormtroopers who are known what missing the broad side of the barn is not what I had in mind or losing to a far less experienced force user like Kylo. A showdown with Snoke would have been nice. Or anything other than a freaking force hologram. That guy who plays Kylo is hell of a good actor though. He has a bright future. Ex-military guy too which just makes him ever cooler. Don't see to many thespians in the armed forces. The Last Jedi made tons of money but pretty much it was just living off the franchise's legacy. Turning such an iconic character into a cranky hermit when he was in his youth the most optimistic character in the universe just doesn't make sense. They just threw Luke away for nothing. There are very very few characters that are on Luke level in all genres. James Bond, Superman, Batman and we get see those guys in some form every few years. Such a waste and it most likely can't be fixed. They were tons of other stuff that just didn't work. Like the opening scene which I guess was supposed to be funny. But the biggest flop by a mile was the way they wasted Luke's return. He technically didn't even use a lightsaber in combat. God what a waste. Oh ya milking the nipple of that alien thing. WTF was that. I have tried to block that from memory. Anyway this has been debated everywhere on Earth. It was so bad in my mind that I just avoided talking about it until now. Too depressing. Cobra Kai anyone??!!!???!!! Is there a thread for that? I loved it and I thought it was going to suck but it was surprising well done.

He got the most special and unique death we’ve ever seen in the entire story and people still bitch and moan. FML. I absolutely agree. I honestly don't think there could have been a more appropriate ending for Luke. I mean, just the visual callback to A New Hope, Luke finally at peace while watching the twin sunset like he did so many years ago on Tatooine, with the Force theme playing in the background, it was one of the most powerful moments in all of Star Wars for me. What a beautiful bit of acting by Mark Hamill, too. I honestly can't wrap my head around how anyone can watch that scene and wish that Luke had gone out in some senseless blaze of glory instead. To me, that scene was what Star Wars has always been all about: hope. I think after The Force Awakens, people had these unrealistic expectations that Luke would come back full force and start to kick ass immediately, but that's not really who Luke is. He's always been a very flawed, very naive character. The audience, as well as the characters in the story, were expecting the legendary hero Luke Skywalker to show up and save the day, but Rian Johnson gave us the flawed human Luke Skywalker instead. Just an old man filled with sorrow, regret and self-hatred, and I think that was a brilliant decision that made for way more impacting and meaningful storytelling. Despite all that, despite our frustration with Luke, in the end Rian Johnson found a way to redeem him. He gave him the chance to not only save what was left of the rebellion, but also to inspire the legend and once again bring a spark of hope back to the Galaxy. After that, Luke became one with the Force ... peacefully and with a renewed sense of purpose. I fucking loved The Last Jedi.

You honestly think I (or anyone who’s into Star Wars) isn’t aware of Hamill’s initial disappointment over Luke’s arc? Like seriously? So to answer your question “those apples” taste old and stale. Btw he’s changed his tune quite bit over time depending on what interview you watch. Ofc the rabid fans will claim Disney is somehow forcing him to bite his tongue now. And just because he played the part doesn’t mean he knows what’s best for the story. Harrison Ford wanted Han Solo to die in RotJ. Actors don’t always get what they want for their characters. To me, Rian Johnson was brave enough to take risks, and push the boundaries of what we’ve seen in Star Wars before, and I applaud him for it. TFA got shit on for ripping off ANH, and then TLJ gets shit on for stepping too far outside the box. I just wish all the whiners like you who swear they’re done with Star Wars would actually stick to their word. But I know that’s not going to happen. Just like the people that still hate watch GoT after 7 years and feel the need to keep telling everyone who enjoy it how awful it really is.

Luke’s death was one of the most beautiful things Star Wars has ever done. I agree. But except Vader's, every other death scene in Star Wars wasn't that powerful IMO. Yoda's, Obi-Wan's, Han Solo's,...

For me, the movie just didn't sell that fall out with Ben Solo as something so traumatic for Luke.
