Luke’s death was one of the most beautiful things Star Wars has ever done. I agree. But except Vader's, every other death scene in Star Wars wasn't that powerful IMO. Yoda's, Obi-Wan's, Han Solo's,... I disagree. Yoda’s final talk with Luke was amazing... there is another SkywalkerHan’s death absolutely gutted me (no pun intended). Especially Chewie’s reaction to it. So it was powerful to me at least. And then of course we had Order 66, which was done extremely well, imo. John Williams music alone during that scene fucks me up.

You honestly think I (or anyone who’s into Star Wars) isn’t aware of Hamill’s initial disappointment over Luke’s arc? Like seriously? So to answer your question “those apples” taste old and stale. Btw he’s changed his tune quite bit over time depending on what interview you watch. Ofc the rabid fans will claim Disney is somehow forcing him to bite his tongue now. And just because he played the part doesn’t mean he knows what’s best for the story. Harrison Ford wanted Han Solo to die in RotJ. Actors don’t always get what they want for their characters. To me, Rian Johnson was brave enough to take risks, and push the boundaries of what we’ve seen in Star Wars before, and I applaud him for it. TFA got shit on for ripping off ANH, and then TLJ gets shit on for stepping too far outside the box. I just wish all the whiners like you who swear they’re done with Star Wars would actually stick to their word. But I know that’s not going to happen. Just like the people that still hate watch GoT after 7 years and feel the need to keep telling everyone who enjoy it how awful it really is. No. completely wrong. Mark hasn't changed his tune. There are interviews where he does say "it is not my story anymore". He has gone silent with his criticism but that is just because he has said his peace. There are no interviews where he praises The Last Jedi. That is just a fact. God Mark waited 30 years for this. Feel bad for the guy. It was just a bad bad idea for Disney not to have a plan for the three movies instead of the relay race thing they got going. JJ does the first. Then Rian. Then the first third director quits because he found out what they did to Luke. So now JJ is back. Same disfunction with Solo. First director fired so they bring to Ron Howard salvage what he can. I loved The Force Awakening. Rogue One was awesome. I'll catch Solo in TNT someday.

lmao wtf trevorrow didn't quit because of luke's story, he was let go because jurassic world sucked Uhhhhh no. That is not correct. Trevorrow left for Creative Differences. He wanted Luke and Snoke alive in 9 so they could have a crazy force battle. Never saw Jurassic World but it made tons of money. The excuse that was later used by Disney was his movie "The Book of Henry". Glad I could clear up Disney's BS for you. lol

Maybe I missed something but why would it matter what Hamill think anyway? Is his opinion somehow sacrosanct?

Not that insightful, as both Yoda and Obi-Wan both gave up and went into hiding after their failures. Mark has walked back a lot of the comments he's made regarding his differences with Rian. But at the end of the day it's like atargbyanothername says, Marl's opinion is not relevant. He's not part of the Lucasfilm Story Group, those who worked with George for years and are now working with Disney. They know the story best.
On a side note you can see a lot of elements regarding Kylo Ben and Rey in The Last Jedi that appeared in the animated film Strange Magic, which is based on a story by Lucas. There are a lot of new elements but in the end I believe that this trilogy is headed more or less in the same direction Lucas would have taken it.

I say good riddance because even if Jurassic World has made money it's still an awful film.
Here's Treveorrow's interpretation of Star Wars:

Maybe I missed something but why would it matter what Hamill think anyway? Is his opinion somehow sacrosanct? It's cool with the actors agree with you on something but it doesn't change anything. Like you or me they are just giving their opinion. I would be more concerned if we were hearing dissent from the Lucasfilm Story Group.
