I'd personally love a prequel with Robert's Rebellion. I know we've got the flashbacks and visions, but it would be fun to see the beginning of it all.

We'll probably get the ending of two GRRM stories from HBO. It'll be Dunk & Egg, and they'll complete the series before he gets all the novellas done.

I'm really praying for Robert's rebellion. Dunk and Egg is not that interesting to interest the large audiences.

I'm really praying for Robert's rebellion. Dunk and Egg is not that interesting to interest the large audiences. I couldn't disagree more. We already know what happened in RR. It also would feel too connected to GoT, imo. On the other hand, Dunk & Egg being told in novella format lends itself perfectly to episodic tv. And it's completely different characters (except for Bloodraven & Maester Aemon-who's only been mentioned anyway), but still set in the same world, with familiar places and houses.

Perhaps it's too close. I agree with your points about Dunk & Egg, but is the plot interesting enough? Would be people enjoy it as much? I enjoyed it as a more of a fairy tale spinoff, maybe it might work like that.

I'm completely over RR, a bunch of assholes messed around with a bunch of other assholes and in the end most people got screwed. The end.

Personally, I'd love to see the story taken much further back in time to Aegon's conquer of Westeros. It would be in-line with the popularity of shows like Vikings for an older, rougher time period in Westeros. Tons of political intrigue and battles. All of the familiar places viewers have heard about from history are in play... Harrenhal is being built, the Houses are forming allegiances. Essos is in play and the Targaryens are just coming to power in Westeros. Three dragons, three Targaryens - would be a nice throwback I think. We'd meet the first of the Baratheons too who were allied/friends with Aegon at the time. Lots of great stuff in there to see how the beginning of Westeros under the Targaryens began.

I've said this before but I want an anthology series with every season telling a different story with a different cast of characters. This way they could do all sorts of things.

“There’s always going be an urge — the characters who maybe will survive — there’s always going to be this temptation to keep doing it; to do the spin-off show or do the sequel show and everything. And I think HBO might well do one.” -D&Dwww.inquisitr.com/4056357/game-of-thrones-cast-spin-off-showrunners/First we've heard of a sequel series, hmmm. This is a spoiler that not everybody dies.

Ooh, nice catch! I didn't pick up on that they said sequel. Nice to know that not everyone dies and now I'm curious as to what a sequel would look like.

We'd meet the first of the Baratheons too who were allied/friends with Aegon at the time. Lots of great stuff in there to see how the beginning of Westeros under the Targaryens began. I agree. I'd love to see Nymeria's coming, the Durrandons and the Hoares fighting over the Trident, etc. If not that, I'd be a fan of the adaptation of the Blackfyre rebellion with Bloodraven as the protagonists maybe? Unfortunately, the Three-Eyed Crow from GoT was never called Bloodraven, so it wouldn't be very neat. Or maybe Baelor Breakspear? His death would be a shocker, and having a PoC protagonist would undoubtedly please some of the critics. Dunk and Egg could/would still pop up in the background. The problem with adaption of the Dunk&Egg stories is that Egg and (to a lesser extent) Dunk would have to be aged up like every two episodes. That would take audience out of the story. I know I hate recasting, even if it is necessary. Or they would have to start the series with a young adult Egg instead of kid Egg, but I'm not much fond of the idea tbh. They would have to significantly age up Dunk as well, since teenage/adoscelent royal prince wouldn't have anything to learn from an adoscelent peasant. If the series started with a 30something Dunk, I wouldn't like it much either. It would take a lot from Dunk's charm if we didn't get to meet him as an awkward, overgrown virginal teenager that believes he is stupid. Wow, thinking about what D&E stories would be like, I realized that something similar has been done in The Knight's Tale with Heath Ledger. James Purefoy starring as Baelor Breakspear, LOL.
