I felt like they made Viserion's death all about Dany's feelings for Jon. It's like she didn't get to mourn him. They did. But think of it from this angle ... Daenerys is always acting so righteous and Queenly, like she has to internalize all her emotions and soldier on to save her people. With Jon there, surviving and waking to see her by his side, she's finally able to let down her guard and be vulnerable. She shows her emotion there, to him. She won't show it to anyone else. She mourned for Viserion and was confused by the outpouring of love from Jon who held her hand firm and didn't let her go. She has never had someone be that open and giving before. Jon was letting her mourn but showing her he had fallen in love with her. That's a lot to take in - that's why she got flustered and left at the end. I know you're not a Jonerys shipper, but Daenerys did mourn Viserion there. She told Jon she can't have any children and they were her children. She's asking Jon, indirectly there, if he's willing to get involved with her knowing that. And he is. Just wallow in the love-story. Just give in. Oh and a peeve I had from BotB is that Jon and Sansa showed little emotion for Rickon's death too so I think we're even there. At least we saw Daenerys cry! Her voice when she calls them her children. I nearly broke into tears. That was genuine emotion.

Somewhere in those crypts, Ned is crying. Somebody get Ghost to get their asses in gear. Oh wait, he's been missing for 14 episodes. I don't think we're going to see Ghost at all this season.

I did love how the dragons were just snoozing on the lawn when Dany goes out to save the Seven. It helps bring Viserion's loss into sharp focus. Dany's children have been harmed, and Momma Dragon is going to be pissed. Oh how it will rip her heart out and then ignite a slow fire inside when she sees him forced to do the NK's bidding. Daenerys is always acting so righteous and Queenly, like she has to internalize all her emotions and soldier on to save her people. With Jon there, surviving and waking to see her by his side, she's finally able to let down her guard and be vulnerable. This. Even when Drogo died, she didn't show the others her grief. She's always been strong, putting on a brave face. Jon understands that inability to let your feelings show. He's had to hid his emotions his entire life.

I don't want rain on people's parades around here, but I just hate the whole Winterfell arc. I mean "all of it", especially after Jon left. Somewhere in those crypts, Ned is crying. Somebody get Ghost to get their asses in gear. Oh wait, he's been missing for 14 episodes. Ned would be furious with Sansa and Arya. But yeah, I really hope that we see Ghost in 801 if Jon arrives back in Winterfell then because that would be the last homecoming before the great war hits them. As for the WF arc, I think the whole "When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives" is one of the themes in the finale with LF being executed.

That was easily one of the best episodes of the series, a prevalent theme this season. Every scene North of the Wall left me on the edge of my seat wanting more. The only scenes that really dragged were the Winterfell scenes, and even those, I enjoyed Arya toying with Sansa, I don't think she ever meant her any real harm, just was seeing where her loyalties lied. The death of Viserion was tragic, my heart broke when the other dragons cried out in pain as well, and Jon and Dany, it's coming and I can't wait! The looks the two exchanged, it's the real deal!

In about 4 or 5 months, we'll have the blu-ray deleted scene of Jon saying good-bye to Ghost I would imagine. I'm guessing they cut the scene because they felt it would take away the dramatic effect of Jon/Drogon meeting. We'll see.

And I thought episode 2 was generous with unlikely character interactions! Oh boy! Last episode they all realised that they were all almost-enemies, and now they realise what they have in common with each other - it was really satisfying to watch! I would never have foreseen Tormund and the Hound talking about Brienne Also this episode has given me a love for Beric Dondarrion that I never expected to have. Richard Dormer has been criminally underused.

Quick observation: Do you guys remember in ADWD when Drogon came into Daznak’s Pit to get Dany and he gets speared. Both he and Dany cry out as one.
Can the crying of the Drogon and Rhaegal be a physical manifestation of Dany (and their) inner pain?
Drogon would certainly be feeling what his mother is feeling.

DB just called Benjen "Coldhands" That Behind the Episode did the same thing the show did - brushed over Viserion's death and put Jonerys at the forefront.
